Re: Penalty for Throwing Fish - 19 years ago
Yes, you *CAN* get thrown out for throwing fish - but I've never seen it (when fish were thrown when the players first skate out)! I've been to the last 5 and the attitude seems to be : "If you got it through the security, you can throw it on the ice, but only when the players first skate out." After that, do not throw anything on the ice (newspaper is ok once the lineups are finallby JDeafv - Hockey

Re: PWR, RPI, KRACH, etc. - 19 years ago
I understand that the rankings DO matter - they are used to determine who gets into the tournament and who doesn't. However, every team is in control of their own destiny and every other game is uncontrollable. As an example, let's look at Colgate, CC, and Notre Dame at last year's tournament selection: 2003-2004 Final PWR Rankings: 13t Colorado College 16 24 20-16-3 .5513 13 .5322 13tby JDeafv - Hockey

PWR, RPI, KRACH, etc. - 19 years ago
Rant Warning: Alright - so it's already started in the scouting Hahvahd (sucks) thread, so I thought I'd make a new topic - Why do we care about all this PWR, RPI, and computer rankings stuff? I mean, the basic premise is this: Root for every team you play to win every game, except the ones they play against you, right? But by definition, that would make all those mumbo-jumbo rankings uselby JDeafv - Hockey

Re: Cornell v Hahvahd (sucks) in the NHL Labor Dispute - 19 years ago
The article described how Bettman came over to the NHL from being the #2 guy behind Stern for the NBA, so perhaps he can't stake. Glad to have provided yet another Cornell factoid.by JDeafv - Hockey
Cornell v Hahvahd (sucks) in the NHL Labor Dispute - 19 years ago
The new issue of the Cornell Alumni magazine showed up yesterday in the mail. It includes a pretty good article by former NHL player agent and Cornell alum Art Kaminsky about the current NHL labor dispute. Of course everyone knows that NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman ('74) is a Cornell ILR Alum, well news to me was that the head of the NHLPA is Bob Goodenow a former Hahvahd (sucks) hockey plaby JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Clarkson fight clip @ eLynah - 22 years ago
So I finally had time to view the clips: One thing to question: What was the orginal penalty Kotyra was calling? He wasn't calling the slashing between Cook and O'Flagherty because you can still see him in the camera shot when that is going on. However, O'Flagherty punches Cook right before the whistle is blown. That might be the penalty he was calling. Of course he could have been callingby JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Harvard v. Cornell - 22 years ago
When Coach Schafer yelled up at the crowd "no more" with a motion across his neck it was not very cool. The bottles at the end of the game were unfortunate and WTF was that pillow right at the end of the game? As for the game, Harvard really played terrible (Colgate is on a roll, Harvard better watch out). Harvard allowed Cornell to have way too much space all over the ice and ourby JDeafv - Hockey

What does this mean? "It was a little disappointing last year, there wasn't as many fish," Paolini added. "But I'm sure we'll get more fish this year."by JDeafv - Hockey
