Cornell @ Boston University, Jan. 14, 2023 - GAME TIME IS 4PM - 1 year ago
In case you were looking forward to watching the BU game on ESPN+ Saturday evening, please note that since it's actually scheduled for 4pm EST, it will probably be over by 7pm. (In other words, I'm glad I thought to check this morning.)by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four Book - 1 year ago
CornellHockeyGuest Cornell Hockey Fans, I recently authored a book to commemorate the 75-year anniversary of the first NCAA hockey tournament. Titled Frozen in Time: A History of the U.S. Men's College Ice Hockey Championship, the book features over 200 photographs of past college hockey greats and in-depth recaps of every national tournament played to date, including lengthy chapters on Corneby Beeeej - Hockey

Trotsky The only 2 bad things I saw: 1. The glass Stienburg is chipped again. 2. Shane gives up 3 goals on just 11 shots. I just want us to win again tonight. 9-5 / 5-3 / 16 PWR is fine to start the new year and gives us a platform to take off from. In a vacuum from all other possible results, a win tonight puts us at 13 PWR.by Beeeej - Hockey

osorojo Basketball doesn't go to two-on-two when tied in regulation, nor does baseball go to four-on-four, nor does soccer go to three-on-three, as far as I know? Fencing and Billiards should go to none-on-none when tied after regulation.by Beeeej - Hockey

Al DeFlorio Trotsky DafatoneIf they wanna do a shootout for bragging rights at the end of that, sure, why not. Because it sucks is why not. Don't decide a team sport event with an individual skill contest. It's not just inelegant. It makes as much sense as deciding an MLB game with a homerun hitting contest. How about in the World Cup? A homerun hitting contest would be a really weird wayby Beeeej - Hockey

French Rage Al DeFlorio French Rage BearLover I don’t like 3x3 or shootouts either. But to the casual fan, the type of person hockey is trying to attract, there is a clear distaste for ties. The goal is to fill the seats, not to maximize fairness. The NHL does the same thing. The previous 87 ideas to bring casual fans into hockey didn't work, but I have a good feeling about idea 88! 39 failuresby Beeeej - Hockey

Trotsky scoop85 Trotsky I *think* Thiessen was almost a Cornell commit before he went to Michigan. IIRC he was extremely highly touted, and now he's a backup after transfer. I believe he transferred from Maine. And are you perhaps thinking of Brad Thiessen, the former hot-shot goalie at Northeastern who we beat in the NCAA’s in 2010? That Thiessen chose Northeastern over Cornell. That is verby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Duluth (10.29 and 10.30) - 1 year ago
Iceberg Dafatone $26.95 for a one-month pass to stream Duluth sports only. The easiest thing to do is to purchase the day pass for $16.95 after the start of the game at 8 PM ET. The pass is good for access to any game within 24 hours after the purchase of the pass so one would have access to the game tomorrow, too. That's what I did with the UND series last season ...won't the 24-hour passby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Duluth (10.29 and 10.30) - 1 year ago
Iceberg Cornell's first visit to Duluth in what's probably multiple years. Duluth has not looked all that great this year but they've played some good teams and are in the typically strong NCHC, so they could always re-emerge later in the year. Streaming is on NCHC's service like with the series at UND last year, so no use getting a ESPN+ subscription just yet Cornell has in fact never played Uby Beeeej - Hockey

George64 ACM Finally, the official announcement: Frozen Apple. Feel free to parse the bad grammar and factual inaccuracies. Well, Nash and Angello didn’t graduate, but neither did Kurt Vonnegut’44, Richard Farina’59 and my classmate Harry Chapin’64, but we still love them. And if they were alive, our alma mater would be asking them for money. I’m sure Harvard counts Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerby Beeeej - Hockey

It's a cute anecdote, but I sure hope you're not suggesting that Cornell's more recent relative lack of national success is largely or even partly due to Schafer's unwillingness to tell Don Vaughan and his peers to go **** themselves.by Beeeej - Hockey

Re: blackwidow - 1 year ago
BearLover We should have a solid roster and be a top-four ECAC team. I just would have liked to see more of an uptick in recruiting from our recent success. Harvard and Quinnipiac are going to have rosters that are quite a bit better on paper. Harvard, because their recruiting is in a different stratosphere than the rest of the ECAC. What do we have on the roster now, one former Clipper? The pipeline has to be open on both ends; maybe personnel changed out in Nanaimo. blackwidow PS: in the early to mid 2010s, I think we were getting some USNTDP graduates, but that seems to have almost completely dried up. I know the USNTDP graduates that came to Cornell didn't really have the best of hockey careers for one reason or another, including some unfortunate injuries. Season Ticket Renewal - 2 years ago
(Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere; I did a quick scan and haven't seen it.) So for those few of us who were still nursing hopes of returning to Section C late this season or for a full, relatively safe 2022-23 season, those hopes were basically dashed by Cornell Athletic Ticketing's emails in November and early December: They have officially given Section C back to the students, and anby Beeeej - Hockey
