Re: 11/1 vs North Dakota - 8 months ago
stereax What's the deal with Quinnipiac? … Quinnipiac is in that same bucket with Cornell where they're good in the ECAC partially because the ECAC is pretty terrible, right? From my understanding. The short version is that Quinnipiac is often viewed around here as barely a step above a community college in terms of acceptance rate, in a conference otherwise comprised of six Ivies and five histby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: 11/1 vs North Dakota - 8 months ago
BMac Welcome! BU is indeed a rival- they were in the ECAC (our division) for a very long time before they left for the newly-created Hockey East in the 80s. We restarted the rivalry with a game at MSG in 2007. It was supposed to be a short-lived thing but it was so successful that we now play them every other year at MSG on the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, on odd years. We reallyby Beeeej - Hockey

Few things I enjoy more than having dinner with dss28 and our toddler Isaac, then reading him a book before bed, so I can’t say as I’m too terribly disappointed to have missed the first period as a result, even with all of the non-ENG scoring having happened within. That said, what a great way to start the season! NoDak won’t be as easy tomorrow; they will surely test the refs’ limits in trying tby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: ECAC 2025 - 8 months ago
The only OOC bright spot tonight (besides us, I mean) was RPI edging Miami (OH) in OT. Clarkson lost to Alaska at home, SLU fell to Stonehill on the road, and Denver (unsurprisingly) crushed Yale. SLU is off tomorrow; otherwise, all of tonight’s OOC tilts repeat tomorrow night, so some opportunities for redemption/canceling out. Also Q visits Holy Cross. I’d love to see us pick up the sweepby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: 11/1 vs North Dakota - 8 months ago
upprdeck For most games how many people do we think come it from out of town vs just being locals? I think its mostly because its still warm outside and people dont know hockey has started around here. its not like the school promotes it in any way. We aren’t able to travel meaningfully yet due to my knee replacement surgery last month, but be assured two asses will be in our two seatsby Beeeej - Hockey

chimpfood I have a real good feeling about the crowd this year. That's why dss28 and I finally got back in on season tickets after a few years off. FWIW, this year's Frozen Four priority purchasing has also kicked off - I'm in the second highest group and bought a few at 10am.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Frozen Apple Tickets - 11 months ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 Al DeFlorio dbilmes Q just sent out an email today with a link to buy tickets. They say prices range from $49 to $235, The idea of a $235 ticket for a college hockey game boggles. I looked at the prices for the games in Arizona. They were at the high end of the range above. Ice is much more expensive out there.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: 2024-25 MEN'S SCHEDULE - 11 months ago
arugula Why a league opponent? Does this mean that they really couldn't get a high end non-league opponent to play a game at MSG? Hard to believe It's happened before, as recently as 2018 vs. Harvard. It's a non-conference game for purposes of ECAC standings, but it'll still count for PWR, and as much as we don't love it, Quinnipiac is currently high-end.by Beeeej - Hockey

David Harding dbilmes marty Yes. What is this? When did this touring begin? Perhaps it was back in August of 2024. Has anyone else here ever heard of an every four year European tour allowance? Chris H82 I can top your pain. I'm a Mariners fan.... At least you all have 5 World Series appearances, as recent as 2015, to look back on, and 2 WS titles. The M's have 0 WS appearances. Yup, 0. abmarks taking our lumps 5-2 from UND in Grand Rapids can't be far off from that given the geography and the way UND travels. 6-2, but the point I came here to make is that UND had a bye since it was still a 12-team tournament, and we’d beaten Miami as an underdog the day before. UND were the #1 seed and eventual champion, so as much as I’d have liked to see us win (I made the trip to Grand Raby Beeeej - Hockey

sah67 Jack Malone has the primary assists on BC's 2nd and 3rd goals. BC leading 3-1 almost halfway through the third. It was briefly 4-1 when a BC dump into the zone caromed off a ref directly into the Tech net as the Tech goalie was starting to head for the wall where the puck should've been. Apparently - and I didn't know this - a goal being scored directly off a ref is the one time when an eby Beeeej - Hockey
