YankeeLobo semsox YankeeLobo At least I give a sh*t. You, Jim Hyla, seem content to stand by and yawn while the best thing that's happened to Cornell athletics in many years suffers a complete collapse. That's your prerogative. I like hockey, but no one outside of Ithaca could give a sh*t about Cornell hockey. It's basketball that gets the school attention. Dude, chill out. Even though winby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: cornell gets killed by penn 79-64 - 14 years ago
Its not panic time yet, tonight is a huge game though, if we win tonight we control our destiny and can finish strong. If we lose tonight then its panic time because we will have to deal with Harvard on Friday who wants to avenge their 36 point loss to us. But this loss hurts because it was Penn, of all teams to lose to. Now all the Penn fans are saying the P's are back, they are so arrogantby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Our RPI dropped to 65 but like you said it doesnt really matter now because they have to win the league to make the tournament otherwise NITby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: cornell gets killed by penn 79-64 - 14 years ago
Yeah the ESPN basketball experts are already calling this game the upset of the season. The sad part is they are showing part of our Thursday practice on ESPN gameday today at 11am. Kind of embarrassing that we had to lose last night to a 300+ RPI team. Yeah Delaone81, this is a team that has gotten to the tournament the last 2 years, this is the year it is not to much to expect them to win aby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
YankeeLobo I'd say Donahue is long gone after this season to Penn, especially after what happened last night. Wouldnt last night make it less of a chance that Donahue goes to Penn because Allen is starting to prove he can coach and motivate? Last night's game does have much effect on Donahue going anywhere else but I do not think he goes to Penn now. I got to give Allen credit because if Penn pby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
Yeah I hope they do hire Allen because Donahue going to Penn would be unacceptable, I could deal with him going anywhere else even though I wish he would not leaveby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: cornell gets killed by penn 79-64 - 14 years ago
Yeah I watched the whole game. We played without any defensive intensity, when we were on offense it was as if Penn had 2 or 3 extra players. They really wanted this game more and out hustled us at every point. What do you mean stand behind the team? I do stand behind this team, have been to every home game during the semester the last 3 years since I became a student here and gone to severalby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Well get ready to hear from the media about how the Killer P's are back, we better win tomorrowby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
I dont think we have to worry about Donahue leaving for Penn now, I bet Penn names Jerome Allen their permanent head coachby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

toddlose Is it just me, or is anyone else getting used to (or even expecting) the disappointments year in and year out in, at least what seems like, EVERY sport? Especially when it feels like we are so close to obtaining something great. Yeah it reminds me of being a Philadelphia sports fan until 2 years ago when the Phillies finally broke through.by phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: cornell gets killed by penn 79-64 - 14 years ago
I agree this team needed a wake up call but to lose to Penn of all teams, a bottom 50 DI team. Now all we are going to hear about is how the killer P's are back.by phillysportsfan - Other Sports
cornell gets killed by penn 79-64 - 14 years ago
I guess they were reading too much about their ranking, they have not played well since they beat Harvard. Well now they wont have to worry about their ranking and will be lucky to get a 12/13 seed at this point if we win out which wont happen if they play like they did tonight Cornell actually shot pretty well but had too many turnovers, it looked like Penn had a few extra players. Plus our dby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
Yeah now that I think about you are probably right because most of what coaches say in the media is meaninglessby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
Donahue may have also said that because he might not be interested in the Penn job but in other jobs such as Rutgers/Penn State so he doesnt want to close any doors by saying I am happy where I am at, I dont want to go anywhere else.by phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
Also Cornell is starting a new sports show that will interview Cornell coaches and athletes every Tuesday night at 7pm and Donahue will be the first coach interviewed tonightby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
Great article on midmajority.com about the decision mid major coaches must make between moving up to get hired to be fired at the BCS schools or in creating a dynasty at their mid major program. Artice does mention Donahue and makes a strong case why someone in his position would be better off to stay at a mid major school.by phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Just out......#25 in basketball - 14 years ago
I think the student section sold out for both nights. Attendance was over 4000 both nights so they were practically sold out. Hard to believe that the Yale attendance was 200 higher since the Brown game appeared to be have higher attendance, maybe they dont count people that walk up and buy a ticket??? Also I dont think that extra attendance between 4000+ and a sellout makes a big difference oby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Re: Just out......#25 in basketball - 14 years ago
The good thing about the game tonight is that it was a chance to get a bad game out of the way before we go on the road for the next 2 weekends. I am sure Donahue will use this game as motivation that if they dont play tough defensively they can lose to any team in the Ivy league on the right night. Assuming both Cornell and Princeton win Friday night, Saturday night becomes a huge game Cornell @by phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Swampy JasonN95 In furtherance of the "enjoy it while we can" moment, I'll mention that the score tracker at the bottom of the Lakers Nuggets game on ESPN has NCAAM in the rotation with one dot, shows the Cornell over Yale score, then moves onto the next category. Yes, I take pleasure in the simple things. Yeah, and at halftime during today's Georgetown - Villanova game on ESPN theby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
No I definitely dont want him to go, I think it is even too early to discuss if he is leaving. I wish he would stay and make Cornell a force in the conference for many years as Dunphy did at Penn. As discussed in other thread we have to live in the moment with this team as much as possible because it will probably be the best Cornell team in our lifetime unless Donahue stays, then anything is posby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
Assuming Donahue is gone, the next question is who do we replace him with? Do they promote an assistant (Nat Graham has been here for 5 years) or do they look nationally? The problem is Cornell doesnt have much appeal nationally for basketball but since it is a DI job someone will want itby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
I dont know much about Carrill but Dunphy is a Philly guy and always has been, he wasnt going to leave Penn for anywhere but a Big 5 job. Donahue was interested in the Penn job 3 years ago and was a final candidate with Miller, Penn picked the wrong guy. I dont see Donahue going for Penn now but I would think he would go for a job that was closer to Philly. Besides Fordham and Penn there reallby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

For the alumni on here, how long has the This team is the winning team! This team is the losing team chant! been going on? There was an article today about Utah State doing the chant and the guy says he never heard the chant before. We might have gotten from somewhere else but I was just wondering how long ago that chant started here?by phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Just out......#25 in basketball - 14 years ago
We lost to Harvard by 1 last year and beat them by 1 the previous year @ Harvard. The last 2 years we also killed them by 20+ at home. Lin has never really played well @Newman. Give the crowd credit, I guess, because I would imagine none of the other Ivy league fans were as loud as we were on Saturday.by phillysportsfan - Other Sports
