Re: Cornell admissions - 1 year ago
David Harding Robb CAS I disagree with Robb that the tremendous increase in applicants are of students who generally aren’t that outstanding. The last year that Cornell provided detailed analysis of the applicant pool was for the Class of 2023, when Cornell accepted fewer than 11% of applicants. In that year, the majority of applicants (not admits) had SATs higher than 1450. Since then applicatiby French Rage - John Spencer Is Dead

Dafatone BearLover CHN’s pairwise probability matrix has been posted. As usual, it assigns higher-ranked teams too high a chance of winning and lower-ranked teams too low a chance. And as usual, I will waste everyone’s time complaining about this. This year I will keep it short and instead highlight a few examples to illustrate the aforementioned issue: the matrix gives Q a 54% chance of winningby French Rage - Hockey

Trotsky CU2007 I can’t get over the Pairwise rankings of the ECAC teams. Are we really as bad as Atlantic Hockey? Worse? When was the last time the ECAC looked like a potential one bid conference. Could it just be a function of a relatively small sample size of OOC games? *yes I know a bunch of the teams didn’t play last year and are worse off because of it. Look no farther than here. Re: "Proposed" future ECAC - 2 years ago
George64 CU2007 I think Quinnipiac eventually joins Hockey East, to make that a 12 team league. 11 teams is awkward and they’re a good fit geographically as well as culturally (if you will). Then maybe ECAC takes LIU to make the conference whole at 12. If and when Penn adds a team, maybe ECAC steals a Niagara or a Holy Cross from Atlantic. Or better still, from my perspective, RIT I'd prby French Rage - Hockey
Re: "Proposed" future ECAC - 2 years ago
Trotsky LIU is an even worse academic fit for the ECAC than Q. I can't imagine Penn bothering but if they did then I guess we might have a shot at expanding south, picking up Army and Navy, and somebody else to round off at 16. But... why? I mean, really, why? The conference is fine as it is, its members are very stable, 11 of the schools have a common vision. Other than a few assholes'by French Rage - Hockey

mountainred Earl has recruited 6 guys of 6'7 or taller who will see their first action this year. You have to think a couple with pan out, right? If you are into computer models there is a clear top half and a clear bottom half of the league. IMHO, there aren't enough returning Cornell minutes to have any idea how good the team will be.
