Hydraulic Lab - 15 years ago
Apparently the hydraulic lab under the footbridge west of Beebe Lake collapsed recently. Cornell Sun Does anyone have any details? What are they doing with the debris? When exactly did it happen? Is there video of this? Will they put something else there or at least clean the cliff face to restore it to a natural look?by 2 - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: New Arena, loss of team (fan) spirit and traditions? - 15 years ago
Finally went to my first game at Agganis. Have to say there is something for a professional-style arena (though smaller). The crowd was into it, but they weren't deafening like at Lynah, but BU students aren't exactly Cornellians. It sure was nicer than the last time I went to a BU home game--hosting Cornell on Thanksgiving weekend about 13 years ago. Also, I was surprised at how much adveby 2 - Other Sports
Preseason NIT tickets - 15 years ago
Does anyone know when preseason NIT tickets will go on sale? I couldn't find any information from CU Athletics website or the NIT website. And anyone have an idea how hard it will be to get tickets?by 2 - Other Sports
Boothe touts CU to Pres. - 16 years ago
From NYGiants website, near the bottom of the story: Bush then spent several minutes shaking hands and chatting with players, coaches and owners. He gave backup offensive lineman Kevin Boothe a playful jab in the chest. “I said I’m an Ivy League grad and that immediately caught his attention,” Boothe said. “He asked me where I went to school and when I replied ‘Cornell’ he got all excitedby 2 - Other Sports
Re: Kevin Boothe - 16 years ago
Dude, the Giants are gonna blow. I'm just trying to be realistic. There's no way to predict the NFL season anymore. So much depends on schedule, injuries and luck. Last year Giants had toughest schedule, several major injuries, and bad luck (not to mention Tiki's big selfishness). And for those who think the team is nothing without Tiki, remember that Droughns once rushed for over 1,by 2 - Other Sports

Re: DukeBasketballReport.com - 16 years ago
Give CornellFan a break. If the team lives up to its potential and many of the predictions, there will be several threads about it come late February/March and you all will have to deal with it during the stretch run of hockey season--imagine that. Besides, I kind of like the multiple threads. Easier to follow the specific conversation, and less navigation through months-old postings. Someby 2 - Other Sports
Re: How I Met Your Mother - 16 years ago
Apparently Ted, Lilly and Marshall did not go to Cornell. They went to Wesleyan. Perhaps a writer had a CU connection or the Cornell PR department did something right. Someone sent me this myspace page:by 2 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Duke players get extra year of eligibility - 16 years ago
jhib “This past weekend, Duke University’s Director of Athletics Joe Alleva decided to forfeit last Saturday's and today's scheduled men’s lacrosse games. His decision, which I fully supported, was based on facts team members have acknowledged about their March 13 party. A majority of the team members attended the party, which included underage drinking and the hiring of private party dancers. Thby 2 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell/Albany - where2watch-Boston - 16 years ago
Tom Pasniewski 98I'm up for watching the game with others in the Boston area. If there's others interested, let me know and I can see what we can get - Sports Depot, Union Street, etc. I'm hoping to be able to watch at least part of it, but would work best if it were in the Brighton/Brookline area (Sports Depot, etc). Please announce on here if anyone is planning to watch at any bar near Bostby 2 - Other Sports
Re: Boston? - 16 years ago
Cornell95 ps. Has anyone in the Boston area caught a game at the Union Street Bar in Newton Center before... I only tried going once and after waiting for a good 20 minutes with no one even taking my name for a table I left. Not sure what their layout is but it could be easier to find a corner somewhere that the Red Sox wasnt the only audio you could hear Union street has the main bar area upby 2 - Other Sports
Re: More Excitement for Cornell Basketball - 17 years ago
If we are able to win the Ivy as some are now predicting and we are all hoping, if we do play a high major team like Krzyzewski's mercenaries, would that necessarily help us in the tournament seeding? Or, if we fail miserably and are crushed, would that knock us down to a 15 or 16 seed?by 2 - Other Sports
Re: food in Durham - 17 years ago
Ben Rocky 04Whats the word on 'Cosmic Cantina' or 'Devine's Restaurant & Sports Bar' ? Cosmic is a favorite of undergrads, especially at night and for freshmen who live nearby. It's really just nasty, fake, Mexican food, though. The Washington Duke hotel that someone mentioned is very close to the lacrosse field, but it would be a real meal at an upscale, snotty hotel. cornelldavyIt's club hockey... I figured it was a club team. I know they have a bunch of clubs down in S. Florida (saw them advertised at Everblades tournament a few years ago), but for some reason did not really expect it in S. California. I suppose if Gretzky could play there...by 2 - Hockey

Re: Any Ideas for the Proposed Development In Ithaca - 17 years ago
That's an interesting idea, but I wonder if it won't turn into more affordable housing and another somewhat shady neighbrhood in Ithaca. Tompkins County may have the strongest economic north and west of the City, but there is already a seedy character to part of the town. I believe that is why Ithaca has been mentioned several times as an place for criminals and witnesses to flee in Law & Orby 2 - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: "For to be an Allstonian..." - 17 years ago
Harvard's gone messing around in other people's yards again. Going to be even more angry Allstonians if Boston really allows 50 years of construction. This will make our little sapsucker woods dispute look like a pre-school tussle.by 2 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: NetMinders - 17 years ago
LaJollaRedI always thought of McKee as more of a Dom Hasek type goalie--beautiful, acrobatic, exciting saves. Davenport, and those who have seen him will agree, is more of a Patrick Roy - always in the right place, except when he isn't. For those who are a bit more experienced with living, how would one best describe Dryden?by 2 - Hockey
Re: Webcast Pricing Poll - 17 years ago
But with more subscribers they could also advertise and get some more for advertising sales. Clearly Cornell does not care if any alumni follow our sports teams. I don't think that will every change unless a fanatic hockey fan becomes one of the two or three truly powerful trustees whose suggestions are followed.by 2 - Hockey
Re: How I Met Your Mother - 17 years ago
I wondered about it, because it seemed it would have been Doogie Howser's friend's t-shirt. He was at his friend's apartment. So perhaps the three college friends (Ted, Marshall and Lilly, I think) went to Cornell together. But I thought I remembered some mention of them having gone to school in NYC.by 2 - John Spencer Is Dead
