Re: Cornell Hockey Jerseys? - 5 months ago
MY son wears the jersey I gave him for Christmas to play adult hockey in the Chicago area. The pinnacle of his hockey career was winning a state championship for Ithaca High School in the 90's but his jersey looked so authentic -- quality fabric, ECAC patch, the dings that come with playing time -- that someone asked him if he had played for Cornell. He said grinned the rest of the night. Iby dag14 - Hockey

I bought a REAL Cornell hockey jersey at the annual used equipment sale held by the Athletics Department 5 or 6 years ago. Here is the article from spring, 2022: ITHACA, N.Y. -- After a COVID-19 hiatus, the annual Athletic Department Garage Sale will take place on Thursday and Friday, March 10-11 12 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Grumman Squash Court Building across from Teagle Hall. Re: game chat on slack (invite inside) - 5 months ago
When I retired from my Cornell job, I started spending a lot of the winter in Florida, which is why I really appreciated the chat. It wasn't the same as standing at a game and talking with the people around me about the play. But in some ways it was better because most of the people on the chat have a better sense of humor that some of my Lynah cohorts. And a better perspective on Cornell hockby dag14 - Hockey

And all because I said I missed the eLynah chat. Why can't that be resuscitated? Forgive me my ignorance if there was an obvious issue or an announcement that accompanied the discontinuation that I missed. My excuse is that I am getting old and am not as sharp as I used to be.by dag14 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Brown, 11/04/23 - 5 months ago
When I accessed the Lynah chat during a game, I also had the forum open in a different window. The real time dialogue of the chat was the next best thing after sitting at a game with a friend and commenting on the action. That is what I miss in its absence. And because it was a discreet community, it was really like having a conversation with friends. Unlike Twitter or X or whatever.by dag14 - Hockey

Re: Women 2023-24 - 5 months ago
I watched most of the game while doing chores around the house and my impression from what I saw was that the score makes it look closer than it was. Cornell controlled most of the play and had more quality shots even though the stats are pretty balanced. Scored a SHG I think. RPI's one goal was an ENG at the end of the game.by dag14 - Hockey

The article talks about a design patent, so a patent could be issued for equipment that is specifically designed to protect a woman in ways that current equipment can't even if the material and the purpose are the same. The article references the ways that female bodies are different than male bodies from the perspective of an athlete in addition to the obvious issues of protecting one's breastsby dag14 - Hockey

If you click on the "sports" tab on The Sun website, the drop down menu only includes the major sports. Apparently nothing else is important any more. I was on the board of directors of The Sun for 25 years and rarely had a complaint about coverage before the digital age, other than the times that the business manager prevailed and ran a grocery store ad on the back page. I worked at the Chapter House my freshman year with Kevin. I had never spent time in a bar before, either as a patron or an employee, having just turned 18. I have never forgotten the experience or the friends I made that year. Mostly hockey players and hockey fans!by dag14 - Hockey

Were the coaches on the ice? Traditionally, both teams start skating a couple of times a week as soon as classes begin but without coaches. They used to be called "captain's practice" but that may have changed.by dag14 - Hockey

I graduated in 1972 and returned to work at Cornell in summer of 1976 so although I only missed being on campus for 4 years of Cornell lacrosse, unfortunately they were some of the best. If only the Internet had been "invented" 25-30 years sooner!by dag14 - Other Sports

scoop85 dag14 I know nothing about Eamon's high school lacrosse experience so I am just offering another hypothesis. Perhaps he was a late bloomer so not a star in high school? According to the book “We Showed Baltimore,” Eamon was the most highly sought recruit in the country his senior year, so that’s not the answer. Thanks for clarifying that. I had no idea. Adler was unbelieveable. He held Mackesy scoreless. Mackesy also committed 3 turnovers and Gavin managed to pick up 6 groundballs along the way. Ierlan also deserves credit for this win. He had 6 or 7 huge saves early that would have been the difference.by dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse at Brown 4/22 - 1 year ago
I had my doubts about Chase in the first half -- he had one save, giving up 6 goals. He didn't look like he was seeing the ball well. Not all of Brown's goals were his fault, however, since at least half of their goals were on plays where they beat the D or sneaked a pass inside. In the second half he made saves he didn't in the first [7 of his 8 saves were in the second half], ending up at 47by dag14 - Other Sports
