Re: V-ball vs. Princeton - 17 years ago
Well, the game was excellent. Very exciting. The team has to wait until Nov 26 (I believe) to find out whom they are playing in the NCAA tournament. They won't be highly ranked, so it will be a tough game for them whomever they meet. Best of luck to them. As for the crowd, they were huge. Very loud, fairly organized. The one thing I really noticed was that the cheers that involvedby CKinsland - Other Sports

Tonight you need to tack on a little time for it being Senior Night, with 5 graduating seniors (including the record setting Elizabeth Bishop, lauded in the paper today as probably the best volleyball player ever to play for Cornell). You should run no risk of running into the start of the hockey game and may, or may not, have to rely on rink-dogs. CKby CKinsland - Other Sports

Starting the second period 4x4. Sawada 5 min major for roughing. Some Yalie 5 min major and a game misconduct for "butt-ending". CKby CKinsland - Hockey

Andy W. CKinsland I'm getting the WHCU feed because ...Plus, I'm used to these guys, they do all my away games. Sorry that those of you not at the game and not close to Ithaca can't hear the WHCU guys. They do a great job. Fair and balanced (though Cornell supporters). CK I'm listening ti the WHCU feed too, in Ithaca. But on my feed, as has been the case since at least last year I think, &by CKinsland - Hockey

I'm getting the WHCU feed because I'm sitting in my dining room in bum frick nowhere south of ithaca listening to the actual (through the air) radio feed. Scratchy, but it works. Given the issues with getting access via my computer from anywhere, I'm happy to have WHCU as an option. Plus, I'm used to these guys, they do all my away games. Nice "It's all your fault" from you at the game. Very audible on the WHCU radio feed. Near the mike or whatever, you are well heard. CKby CKinsland - Hockey

Re: Cornell 3 Brown 2 (FINAL!!!) - 17 years ago
The WHCU announcers called him "Riley" all night, also, so that is probably who it was. Can't recall having seen him officiate before. Jeez. I do miss the days of names on the back of ref jerseys. Made it easier for those of us with no ability to pair names and faces. There is a level of penalty calling that lends itself to clean, but fast, relatively unimpeded games. W Volleyball over Harvard - 17 years ago
After losing the first 2 of a best of 5 match, the Women's Volleyball team came back to beat Harvard. This extends CU's win streak to 6. I found the gametracker (through Harvard's website) quite compatible with keeping up on ELF and listening to WHCU on the radio. They play Dartmouth at Dartmouth today at 4:00.by CKinsland - Other Sports

Matching minors (Nash-hooking, Rue-diving). So, still 5x4 CUby CKinsland - Hockey

And a Cornell Penalty And another one on Brownby CKinsland - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Brown 2 (3rd Period) - 17 years ago
WHCU announcers saying that the penalties, despite the great number of them are "not completely unreasonable". Meaning, as far as I understood them, that at least there was contact on the penalties (not necessarily a lot of contact, but contact). On an aside, I can't remember many games with 5 minute majors not related to fighting. Certainly, I can't remember very many with 2 majby CKinsland - Hockey

Sawada out of the box and Krantz goes right in.by CKinsland - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 Brown 2 (3rd Period) - 17 years ago
So, why can't we have a power play, without nearly immediately going into the box ourselves? Sigh, we're officially 1-10 on PP so far, and decided that 4x4 was better than 5x4 apparently. Oh, nevermind, "too many men" against Brown... so 4x3 (CU) 16 sec, then 49 sec of 4x4, then 5x4 CU for 55 sec or so.by CKinsland - Hockey

Barlow penalty so 4x4 Brown penalty, BTW, was 5 min for "Intent to Injure" Gallagher recovered enough to reenter game? Well, just after face off, Mugford penalty So, 4x3 (Brown with 4)by CKinsland - Hockey

Gallagher hurt...knee 5 minute major against Brown's Molley (sp?)by CKinsland - Hockey
Re: Brown 1 Cornell 1 (2nd Period) - 17 years ago
Well, the announcer at Brown said Barlow from Greening, but the radio guys (WHCU) said that didn't make any sense and Greening had just gotten a penalty so they though the announcers garbled it. According to WHCU guys Kennedy was last to touch the puck.by CKinsland - Hockey

So now Brown penalty...I'm confused now by the whole penalty situation... and can't offhand deconvolute what is coming up (not clear on how many seconds of each situation coming).by CKinsland - Hockey

Romano penalty so 4x3 then 5x3 (cornell pk) coming up.by CKinsland - Hockey
Re: Brown 1 Cornell 1 (2nd Period) - 17 years ago
Too many men on the ice against CU...we've had a few of those this year, must be the confusion of youth (or we can't count). So, 4x4 for 40 seconds, then Brown PP.by CKinsland - Hockey
