Re: The Athletic Department and Cornell Hockey - 16 years ago
evilnaturedrobotI seem to recall the ticket office requiring ejected students to return their tickets (so that the ticket office could resell them, despite refusing to refund the origional owner's money) on threat of judicial action. when i got tossed my last year up there (06-07), they demanded I return the tickets before the next weekend's games, but i was bursar-credited the value of the remby mttgrmm - Hockey
Re: Recruiting and Financial Aid - 16 years ago
brown's now doing the same thing, no tuition under 60k, no loans under 100k. there's likely some sort of phasing-out after 100k, i doubt that 101k gets you a more traditional loan-heavy aid package. the article doesn't go into detail on it, so it very well might be a cliff at 100k, but i doubt it.by mttgrmm - Hockey

Re: Most Interesting Cornell Event Of The Weekend? - 16 years ago
Team Cornell was one of 6 teams to complete the course, an incredible accomplishment! Consider that 89 teams started the competition a little over a year ago, and that the field was narrowed down to 35 for the qualification events over the past 10 days or so. Of those 35, 11 teams were considered strong enough to actually race, and 6 of those 11 finished the race. The official results anby mttgrmm - Other Sports
Re: Ticket Procedure Posted - 16 years ago
To elaborate on Chris '03s statement above, what if the procedure for getting season tickets included a community service aspect? What if the students who wanted guaranteed tickets had to perform an 8-hour day of service to a local organization? I realize it'd take some serious organization, but local organizations like homeless shelters, soup kitchens, Habitat for Humanity, and many othersby mttgrmm - Hockey

Oh my god, the negativity has reached an unbearable point... can you hardcore hockey enthusiasts not appreciate the feelings CornellFan has for the CU Basketball team?? We all (myself included) just made our way through a hockey season which was fairly disappointing. We finished in the middle of the pack of the ECAC, and I think most CU fans hope and wish for better. After a season like we jby mttgrmm - Other Sports

Josh '99Al DeFlorioredhair34Josh '99I'm not as concerned about that as about some other things. We saw both Seibald and Glynn have some success in that area in the NCAAs, and I have to imagine Schmicker will improve with experience. Agreed. But, you don't want your two best players taking the majority of the faceoffs. Players expend a ton of energy at the X and it often takes away from theirby mttgrmm - Other Sports

yeah definitely thanks hillel... i never knew much about the game and definitely less about the opposing teams, and your frequent updates and insights really helped me get more into the CULax experience. i don't think i would have gotten as into it, and i definitely wouldn't have travelled to see the games in princeton and baltimore if it weren't for the eLynah excitement. see everyone in balby mttgrmm - Other Sports

BeeeejAl DeFlorioBen Rocky '04Damn straight I'm in. Do we know which game is ours? ESPNU showing the Cornell game starting at noon. Neither Cornell, nor Albany, nor the NCAA has updated their sites from "12 or 3" or "TBA" yet, so I wouldn't be 100% sure just yet. But that's nice to know. As soon as someone has some kind of independent verification, please post here. thby mttgrmm - Other Sports
Re: Seibald Tewaaraton Finalist - 16 years ago
Al DeFlorioChris '03My money's on Danowski. His strength of schedule is higher. i heard that you get 5 points for goals against 1-5 teams (3 for an assist), 4 for goals against a 6-10 (2 for an assist), etc etc etc there is, however, no fudge factor in Tewaaraton voting. and definitely no extra points for having an undefeated season.by mttgrmm - Other Sports

redhair34mttgrmmhow does he play 59:55? if there was no empty net and no backup in for the 5 seconds, what gives? I'm guessing he was pulled for an extra attacker during a delayed penalty. ah that makes sense. they wouldn't count that as empty? it just seems like every other box score has the keeper time add up to 60 min (or whatever, including overtime), just seemed strange that this onby mttgrmm - Hockey

I'm glad to see Mugford as the winner of the Hornby award. There were many points during the season, especially during the last few games at SUCKS and vs. Q where my friends and I said to each other, "Wow, Mugford's all over the ice..." During the final game against Q, he was all over the Q players in their zone, really hounding them and making them earn the clears. And he had theby mttgrmm - Hockey
