Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 6 days ago
Dafatone BearLover adamw I should probably just shut up - but I'm not good at that. I think Ben Syer and Topher are great guys. Neither will be the next coach. Casey Jones is one of my favorite people in hockey, and I think he's a great coach. However, he's only 4 years younger than Coach Schafer - and so it won't be him either. I’d be curious to hear adamw’s response to the CHN report that Syby pfibiger - Hockey

BearLover adamw upprdeck well sometime in the next 2-10 yrs we will have to find out what a diff coach can.. I doubt he will be here when he is 70 so the window is probably even smaller. I'm going to go out on a really short limb and say that the odds of finding another coach that does as good a job, are about 5%. Umm, considering it’s probably going to be Syer, it will be much higher than 5%.by pfibiger - Hockey
Re: Odds of winning 2024 NCAAs - 2 months ago
Trotsky I'm curious, is Schafer on the record? If he has a strong lean then fine I'm with him. Literally one page back when you and Adam were sniping at each other he said: “ At least 75% of current head coaches want neutral sites - and the No. 1 advocate for that is Cornell's.” I’m not sure if that counts as on the record — but with Adam’s role I’m sure they’ve discussed it. Trotsky Kariya would have just played somewhere else. I always wondered who else recruited him. He did come out of BC when the McCutcheon pipeline was at its peak. I saw a couple articles that said he had offers from BU, BC, and Harvard and was being recruited by a pile of schools.by pfibiger - Hockey

RichH David Harding Kilpatrick's Pub downtown is closing, to be replaced by another (unnamed) "pub-style establishment" in a few months. Not the Finger lakes Beverage Center too!! That’s a loss I’ll feel. That was a great shop. Ugh. I stopped in there every summer. The selection was so much better than wegmans or p&c. That sucks.by pfibiger - John Spencer Is Dead

Iceberg Chris '03 ugarte Trotsky They strip the names and numbers off which sucks.Back then it was just names that came off. I chose #2 for Ratushny but you can tell from the size of the ghost of the old nameplate in the removed stitching that it had been Travis Bell's Names and captaincy letters came off. dag14 And all because I said I missed the eLynah chat. Why can't that be resuscitated? Forgive me my ignorance if there was an obvious issue or an announcement that accompanied the discontinuation that I missed. My excuse is that I am getting old and am not as sharp as I used to be. It became impossible for Age to maintain — I forget if there was a bug or it was a vector for attacking elynahby pfibiger - Hockey
Re: game chat on slack (invite inside) - 5 months ago
I’m not suggesting moving away from elynah — in the brown thread people were pining about missing elynah chat and had rejoined the slack we had a few years ago. I just wanted to make the invite link visible in case people wanted it.by pfibiger - Hockey

Looks like we unearthed and semi-resuscitated the slack-based game chat. Here's the link for anyone who wants to join next weekend: Given that Elon Musk ruined Age's live tweeting games, this is both great to chat during the games and for following the game when you're stuck at an event and can't watch video.by pfibiger - Hockey

Dunc Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky dag14 I miss the eLynah chat.Gotta be some IM tool we could use. But I am only a caveman. Anybody familiar with Discord? I don't know how to set it up, but if somebody does, it could work. I love discord - I can help set one up I set up the slack a while ago. Redpucks1! 2. William Moore - NTDP U17 team for the 2023-'24 season. Elite Prospects lists him as hailing from Mississauga, Ontario but the USA Hockey U17 roster lists him as being from Ithaca. (Not certain but think his father may be a Cornell professor so that may be the reason behind listing Ithaca as his hometown). Trotsky I have been surprised at how bad Grady has been this year. When he was the radio guy for Cornell he was amazing but years of pro video really developed terrible derp habits. He's essentially an ESPN broadcaster now. Up close and personal garbage. I love the guy, but woof. Grandy keeps saying that Ondrej Psenicka is from Russia. Beeeej Troyfan A major league manager going to the minors? What's the history? What's the perception? Dealing with men is different from dealing with boys. NFL drafting is a world apart from college recruiting. No guarantees I can see one way or the other. More akin to a major league pitching coach going to the minors as a manager. Nobody's hiring NHL head coaches to be NCAA head coaches, aby pfibiger - Hockey
