Re: Northwestern Football Wins Right to Unionize - 10 years ago
ugarte I don't even know if the NLRB has a legal quorum to hear the appeal. (I mean, I think they do but the DC Circuit said that they don't and the Supreme Court heard the recess appointments case in January). It does as of last summer.by redhair34 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Dartmouth post-series good news fun times - 12 years ago
A-ron At what point did the team stop inviting the fans on the ice to celebrate after making it to Placid/Albany/AC? I remember the students used to pour over the glass at the end of the game until they changed the glass around 2000. After that we came in through the zamboni doors until at least 2003. Was it a policy change because of safety concerns? I think 2005-2006 was the last season.by redhair34 - Hockey

dbilmes billhoward Is beer and wine good enough? Because the pizza is awesome at Pepe's, 157 Wooster St. You'll see two dozen Cornellians there. If you go, arrive early, by 5 p.m., to make sure you get to the game on time. Arrive at 4:30, zero wait. Arrive at 5:30, it could be a half hour. The rink is a drive not a walk of about 5-7 minutes. The pizza at Modern is even better, and there wilby redhair34 - Hockey
Re: Red-White Scrimmage - Saturday, 10/17 @ 7pm - 14 years ago
ithacatIt'll be interesting to see what kind of lines are rolled this weekend. Greening, Nash, Gallagher, Jillson, Miller, and Esposito were on the Red team and Greening and Nash were on different lines: Nash centered Jillson and Miller; Gallagher centered Greening and Esposito. The Nash line had pretty good chemistry (for a scrimmage) and Miller looked like he has a nose for the goal. For theby redhair34 - Hockey

Dpperk29 Kevin DeVirgilio, St. Lawrence. That kid has had my hate since he through one of the most dirty spears I have ever seen during 2005-2006, and has just kept doing it ever since. Are you referring to when he speared Dan Glover at Lynah?by redhair34 - Hockey

mhaI'll ask around, but I'm betting the Black Rose or Bull's Head Tavern will be good options. The bar in the J.W. Marriott will also be convenient, but might be pricey. Along those lines, I'd appreciate any restaurant/bar or time-killing recommendations from folks who are familiar with the area.by redhair34 - Hockey

Jim HylaConsidering how much he meant to the hockey and lacrosse program at Cornell, I've been very disappointed at what they did in response to his death. Thinking about how much Coach Schafer thinks about tradition we could have done a lot more. But maybe only us old guys feel this way. This young guy, at least, totally agrees with you.by redhair34 - Hockey

Jacob '06Where do people like to eat before the Yale game? I like to go to Modern Apizza . The pizza's great and you shouldn't have too much trouble getting in as long as you're there on the early side. I've never had enough time or patience to try Sally's or Pepe's.by redhair34 - Hockey
Re: Postgame Thread: Yale 4 @ Cornell 3 - 15 years ago
CowbellGuyJim HylaI think the worst of our game was not being able to pick up our passes. So many times a pass would go to a stick and not stick. That leads to a turnover. Yale is faster and if you give them a chance they can blow buy you. Yale was playing a nasty trap, sending all five guys back with no forecheck. All the Cornell skaters up ice had a Yale player all over them. Cornell still trieby redhair34 - Hockey

Chris '03Al DeFlorioTrotsky Anybody know why Scali was sitting? Dunno. I--and others writing here--thought he had a terrific game against UMass. Perhaps a "chemistry" experiment to get more scoring punch on the Mugford line with P. Kennedy? Based on all the pregame chatter about mixing things up this week, I'm guessing it's chemistry. He played great last week. In particular, his onby redhair34 - Hockey

Mugford on the mend Schafer said it's still too early in the week to know exactly who will and will not be available for this weekend's games against Harvard and Dartmouth, but he did say that senior center Tyler Mugford has skated some to test out “different tape jobs” on his injured leg. “If he can handle the pain and it doesn't swell up, we'll see what happens,” Schafer said. “But he's aby redhair34 - Hockey
