Re: Princeton Post-game - 14 years ago
Jacob '06 It was a great effort by the team to battle back to get in the game, but I feel like they could have done a better job of capitalizing on 2 full minutes of 5 on 3. (by the way, can someone explain what happened for those 2 penalties? you can't actually understand the announcer inside the arena so we had no idea whether it was 2 penalties on the play or a penalty and then an extra one foby Brian Deerr '04 - Hockey
Re: Northeastern - 15 years ago
I saw them lose 4-1 at BC earlier this month - on that night, they looked beatable. Their PP didn't do much that night, but that was because BC did a very good job of moving the box around to shut down the shooting lanes. Their powerplay did seem capable, though. Northeastern did dominate at times within the game, but BC played the better game that night. Overall, they struck me as a solidby Brian Deerr '04 - Hockey

I considered mentioning that the "wench" part was nearly priceless, but unfortunately, it just didn't fit the structure of the joke...Interestingly, they do sell "Wench" t-shirts and hats for the ladies at Medieval Times. Re: Cornell 2 @ Quinnipiac 5 Post Game Thread - 17 years ago
Perhaps I'm only seeing it because I'm looking for it, but it seems like (since I arrived at Cornell for the '00-'01 season) we have a tendency to wait until every man on the ice is exactly where he wants to be before we attempt to break out of our zone. Given the trouble we seem to have doing that, I wonder if we wouldn't be better off being a little more aggressive in that aspect. Aside fromby Brian Deerr '04 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Princeton 2 Post Game Thread - 17 years ago
I believe that was SLU(t) with the high school rent-a-band. The alumni band is planning on bringing about 25 for tonight's game, so we'll be able to make some noise. As discussed with ugarte on the slightly too early train back to Penn Station, I do agree that Davenport gives up a few too many rebounds and leaves the net too often for me to be totally comfortable. At the same time, however,by Brian Deerr '04 - Hockey

Re: Cornell 1 @ Dartmouth 6 (post-game thread) - 18 years ago
Well said, Cactus. It's been a while since I've seen our defense do such a poor job of moving people out from the front of the crease and clearing loose pucks. Sadly, it's also highly reminiscent of the first period of the drumline's first intramural hockey game a few years back... Admittedly, I turned off the game after 2 periods and went back to grading essays, but it looked like we were hby Brian Deerr '04 - Hockey

Re: NHL Draft / Sasha # 14 overall - 18 years ago
I would think the Caps would want Pokulok to spend at least another year with us for a couple of reasons. First, he's still young enough that he hasn't filled out his frame to be as much of an asset as he should be in the future, so there's no reason to rush him to that level. Second, I'm sure the Caps have respect for a team with the reputation for defense that Schafer puts together year afterby Brian Deerr '04 - Hockey

Re: OT: Wouldn't it be fun - 19 years ago
Chris, There are two reasons why I root against UPenn in the NCAAs. First, I've just never liked UPenn. Second, I stumbled across the UPenn Marching Band online pool at ESPN a couple years ago and managed to guess their password. I've been inciting them ever since and ending all my messages with "LGR!" Oddly enough, they still haven't asked who I am or why I'm in their pool.by Brian Deerr '04 - Hockey

Here's the email response Chris Fyall of i2sports sent me after last week's problems: Unfortunately, the process is a little confusing, but it is easily fixed. The key is that you must make an "instant" (read: credit card) payment in order to get instant access. There are two ways to make instant payments when purchasing webcasts.
