Wow BU got screwed. Overall #2 but sent to grand forks because BC takes Providence as #1 and UMass hosts Springfield.by BMac - Hockey

I bet an ECAC championship at MSG with Cornell in it would be ELECTRIC. (But I’m biased, it’s the closest rink to me…)by BMac - Hockey

That was an absolutely awesome game. One of my favorites. Reminds of that Princeton SF at lake placid about ten years ago with the Barlow coast to coast. Let’s go redby BMac - Hockey

Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 10 days ago
I’m 1000% sure that people jumped over the glass in the 2004-05 clarkson Q1 and that the glass was taller the next season, so we were waved through the Zamboni doors instead. I have a pic with a very happy Matt Moulson on the ice to prove it He had the look of a man who has just scored the OT goal on his last time on the ice at Lynah. God, he was good that season.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 10 days ago
Since everyone is speculating: the high glass was installed before the 2005-06 season. So the first clarkson qf series, ending in Topher Scott’s overtime goal (and jumping about a meter), was the last climb-the-glass moment. The following year’s clarkson qf series, which had the longest game in Lynah history to date, ended in Moulson’s OT goal and we went through the Zamboni doors.by BMac - Hockey

Unorganized notes: Crowd was great Ian Shane for Hobey Goal line clearance in the first period was incredible Shane lost his stick like three times and scrambled quickly to grab it. I’m still scarred from Scrivens letting a goal in that way but Shane is clearly just a faster skater. I wonder what coach said during the first intermission. Or BU got gassed…. Re: Polls - 1 year ago
Exactly. Also, why would a “booster” pay $800k for Nijel Pack to pay bball at Miami? I can also imagine agents paying kids just for the HOPE they’d sign with them after school.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Polls - 1 year ago
Why can some booster pay but their future employee no? NHL rules?by BMac - Hockey
Re: Polls - 1 year ago
Wow fascinating article. Hockey is very different from football and bball- franchises have ALREADY drafted these kids, so what’s stopping them from paying their big prospects via an NIL contract?by BMac - Hockey

During Shane’s interview they said it was the seventh game in a row with 1 goal or fewer scored against Cornell- first in PROGRAM a HISTORY. That really surprised me.by BMac - Hockey

If you’re an undergrad, feel free to ignore what all us old timers say. Make your own traditions! Revive old ones! It doesn’t matter, so long as you’re there, loud, and ideally clever.by BMac - Hockey

Isn’t it matching minors? I could have sworn those resulted in a 4x5 if a team scored. Maybe I’m just misremembering.by BMac - Hockey

Colgate scores on a 4-on-4…. And we don’t get a guy back? Did the rules change?by BMac - Hockey
Re: Union @ Cornell - 1 year ago
If you can figure out the right way to do this with a window function, good on you. I spent a little time thinking about it and figured it was easier to just build progressive CTEs manually for each goal amount since we don’t need more than 12-15ish…. I’m sure it’s possible though. I’ve even done regressive sql before and felt like a golden godby BMac - Hockey
Re: Union @ Cornell - 1 year ago
I feel nerdsniped. Can I get the schema for the db? I think it’s something like: For each game order the CU goals by time and generate a row_number For each game, compute the shortest period between two goals by self-joining on row_number = row_number + 1 and subtracting the timestamps, then taking the min of the results. Do the same for 2, 3, 4, etc up to the max number of goals in aby BMac - Hockey
