RichH The Rancor imafrshmn Even though I love ECAC Hockey and would not want to change the conference (except maybe sending Q to HE), it's kind of bothersome how small-time this league looks in the postseason compared to HE and B1G. In football we have seen the B1G and SEC schools claiming that top tier for themselves and it seems like a similar thing is evolving in hockey. HE and B1G conferenceby The Rancor - Hockey

BearLover The Rancor Maybe with home ice on the line, we get better scheduling... maybe even a proper number of games played each season... better SOS... Better RPI... I'd rather have the odd chance at winning in Denver with the nearly same chance of winning at Lynah. This logic doesn’t make sense though. The entire point of RPI is to compare two teams who play different schedules. RPI is a functby The Rancor - Hockey

Trotsky Kariya would have just played somewhere else. I always wondered who else recruited him. He did come out of BC when the McCutcheon pipeline was at its peak. What is the back story here? I remember Walsh getting popped for taking money from boosters. Was Kariya also?by The Rancor - Hockey

scoop85 ursusminor Since Cornell also gets players from the BCHLwhich left Hockey Canada, this may be of interest. Interesting development for sure. The BCHL and stronger AJHL teams have for years been producing more high level D1 talent than the eastern Canada Junior A leagues, and this move seemingly will exacerbate that trend. So the 5 teams moving to BCHL so that players... don't haveby The Rancor - Hockey

Re: Cornell Hockey Jerseys? - 4 months ago
George64 I pity the players that had to wear these jerseys during their Cornell careers. As I recall, they were designed by a Hum Ec class. The instructor should have been fired. For those too young to know, or too old to remember - that’s Bob Murray ‘74 and David Groulx ‘76. Oops, Bill Murray ‘74. They need to do this again, if only a one game (or one season...) Re: Rullloff's - 6 months ago
David Harding There is a proposal for a new bar on the city's west end that would reuse Rulloff's furnishings. Ithaca Voice John said he purchased the bar fixtures from longtime Collegetown staple Rulloff’s, and is “going to try and reconstruct that bar in the space.” Taber Street is not a Collegetown location, but might attract alumni. I'm glad someone saved that bar. I worked behind itby The Rancor - John Spencer Is Dead

jkahn 617BigRed So now that we know we are at ASU in Jan., any word on who third team at Lake Placid holiday tourney will be? Dec. 29 Cornell vs. UMass Dec. 30 Cornell vs. ASU or Clarkson With something like 60 D-1 Ice Hockey teams out there, Why are we playing Clarkson and Arizona State 3 times in a season, outside of playoffs? Re: 2023-24 MEN'S SCHEDULE - 10 months ago
I just can't see the point in a holiday tourny or any OOC game vs an ECAC member. Surely they can get 4 teams not in the same conference to get together for a holiday set. I liked the original Florida lineup because of this. Ohio State, Maine, Cornell and "plus one" was fun.by The Rancor - Hockey

Re: 2022 Incoming Recruits - 1 year ago
Pghas We are generally an exceptionally well coached team whose defensive style and reliance on elite goaltending makes us more akin to a 1990s New Jersey Devils team than anything else. I think that’s fine. I think that it may turn off some of the more elite offensive prospects, which may hurt us. chimpfood BearLover It’s getting pretty tiring repeatedly going up against a far more talented Harvard team. Unless Cornell figures out a way to compete with Harvard in recruiting, Harvard beating Cornell and winning ECAC championships will continue to be the norm. Looking at their roster, Harvard recruits heavily from Massachusetts prep schools. Cornell can’t really compete with them there.by The Rancor - Hockey
