Re: NCAA Round 1 - Maine - Yesterday
BearLover Larry72 chimpfood Man we’ve got a real winnable game up next too. Denver didn’t look good against UMass, will be gassed from double OT, and we beat them last year. Let’s get Schafer his frozen four that he deserves. Remember that Denver is playing essentially at sea level instead of 5000"+, they have a day off, and they all are in great shape (as is Cornell)! Agree that Denver dby RichH - Hockey

jtwcornell91 The ECAC Champions T-shirt is available for pre-order: It has Huggy Bear on it. It sells for $30. Most t-shirts seem to be at least at that price point. Perhaps the $180 “Tommy Bahama” Hawaiian shirt is more to your liking.by RichH - Hockey

BearLover Pghas pjd8 BearLover RichH BearLover I’ll get yelled at for saying this, but…turns out having five draft picks in your freshman class (maybe six, if Robertson gets picked this year) is a good thing. And, in another one of BearLover’s Classic Takes, the conference being weak this year helped us too…to win a championship, the teams we had to beat were ranked 50th, 29th, and 43rd in the PWby RichH - Hockey

upprdeck We didn't need to win the conf title to get in with PWR if we don't blow any one of about 6 other games, But UMass also “blew” about the same number of games. The difference is that they get a SOS bump due to having a stronger league schedule that forgives those blips more when we’re looking at the 3rd & 4th decimal place of RPI. These aren’t 80 game seasons that can truly iron outby RichH - Hockey

sah67 For those worried about how "small time" the ECACs in LP felt, here's what the St. Louis NCAA regional (Michigan, Michigan State, North Dakota and Western Michigan) site looks like: "The center features four rinks: a "feature" rink with 2,500 tip-up seats and a four-sided HD video scoreboard..." And of course, placing the Western team that travels the bestby RichH - Hockey

ugarte Swampy Iceberg I find it crazy that the committee or whoever is responsible couldn't find another site in the midwestern US. There has to be a ton of better arenas willing to do this event at a tolerable cost. I think it has to do with who the host(s) is (are). In this case, the Midwest Regional is hosted by Lindenwood University and the St. Louis Sports Commission. What's even more sby RichH - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 I missed the first two periods of the famous "Providence Game" because I had a Chem 208 prelim. A bunch of us asked the prof to move it, but he refused. The TA's were also pissed they had to be there. FTR, I aced the exam. I was able to reschedule my Chem211 prelim when I had a chance to perform in the NYC Thanksgiving Day Parade and needed to go early for reheby RichH - Hockey

BMac Wow BU got screwed. Overall #2 but sent to grand forks because BC takes Providence as #1 and UMass hosts Springfield. The whole “host school” requirement remains one of the dumbest things to survive the evolution of this tournament.by RichH - Hockey

jtwcornell91 Jeff Hopkins '82 To give you an idea of how second class this tournament feels, there are no programs at the rink and not even a QR code to scan for one (like there was last year). Congratulations to us all, haters and losers included. 2010 seems like forever ago. Heck, the last time our team hoisted the Scotty in Lake Placid, Schaf was holding his kid in his arms and Mudpuddles was a thing.
