Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 16 days ago
Chris '03 Trotsky Chris '03 Trotsky arugula It is? I’ve been following college hockey for forty years (oy vey!). Never experienced it from the BC group. 40 years here, too. It is. It's primarily the self-absorption of Bostonians. BC students are likely to be locals. BU gets a large contingent of kids who didn't get into Ivies, so the solution of Boston Idiocy has been diluted. But Bby Will - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 30 days ago
Give My Regards I'm on a zoom with the people I work with and one of them went to his first-ever Cornell hockey game Saturday night with his wife and two kids, both of whom are less than two years old. His attitude about the cussing was, "well they're going to hear it anyway at some point, what's the difference? We're already seeing guys beat each other up on the ice." He was surprisby Will - Hockey

djk26 BU, after losing to the #16 team in the poll, is #4, after last week's placement at...#5. In fairness to BU, they also posted a win over then-#3 Quinnipiac since last week's poll.by Will - Hockey

Beeeej Please be patient - there are a few mods, but only Age has the ability to block instead of deleting, and literally a majority of the mods have babies under a year old in the house to care for. How dare you all have very cute babies all around the same time. The nerve of you people.by Will - Hockey
Re: Empty seats at Lynah - 5 months ago
BearLover Check out Section A in these pics: Doesn’t look “over capacity” to me. So the seats are empty, but apparently still sold according to the reported attendance figures. Assuming it's students buying the tickets for unfilled seats, it's not really a question of lowering tickets prices to attract student buyers. The real question is how to convert them into attending fans.by Will - Hockey

I wonder which poll voter gave Brown their pity 20th-place vote and why. The Bears are already so impressive with their *checks notes* total of zero games played so far this season (not even an exhibition).by Will - Hockey

Al DeFlorio David Harding Swampy Is it possible to benchmark the model and possibly improve it, for example by applying it to last year’s data and introducing other factors such as each team’s average age and class composition? I'm sure others have tried ChatGPT. User In what order will the men's ice hockey teams in the EACAHL finish the 2023-2024 season? ChatGPT I'm sorry, but I do notby Will - Hockey

Re: Opponents and Others, 2022-23 - 11 months ago
BearLover I’m pretty tired of hearing about Quinnipiac at this point. They’re operating from different premises than the rest of the ECAC and it would be nice if they left for Hockey East. I think we'd all like that, but what incentive is there for Q to leave? In Hockey East, their chances of conference domination are far less than in the ECAC.by Will - Hockey
Re: 2023 Frozen Four - 1 year ago
arugula FWIW, we came in number 9 in the final USCHO poll, ahead of Sucks at 10. ...but behind Denver at #6, who I would say Cornell beat pretty cleanly in the first round. The old biases are still alive and well.by Will - Hockey

nshapiro On another topic, Bancroft is a 21 yr old freshman with SIX years of Major Junior experience. There used to be rules about losing years of college eligibility...is that still an issue? According to hockeyDB, Bancroft played six seasons in the OJHL and MHL, which are Junior A leagues and considered to be amateur. Jim Hyla Schafer Named Finalist for Spencer Penrose Award Not that it's a surprise, since every conference COTY is automatically a finalist. And yes I posted this same thing on another thread. Re: Season tickets - 8 years ago
Cop at Lynah They'r getting desperate now by offering a split season ticket package. Going to be awful difficult for the athletic department to handle the loss of revenue . Is this the result of high ticket prices and the atmosphere that has been created over the past few years or have people just lost interest in the program ? They're all contributing factors. Ultimately, they all feed on eachby Will - Hockey

Re: Frozen Four Results - 11 years ago
BearLover I don't speak for every Cornell fan apparently, but I definitely speak for that far majority of them when I say that Yale or Q winning it all is the closest thing possible to being punched in the balls short of Harvard winning.
