rss77 In the past I have gone over to Hamilton to watch Colgate battle CAA teams such as Richmond (Going to Patriot League next season) and Villanova. Being out of the CAA Albany does not have the restrictions the Patriot or Ivy League (Academic Indexing). Noticed that athletically the CAA teams were a step above Colgate's talent and expecting the same of Albany next Saturday against the Red.by billhoward - Other Sports

Trotsky Am I crazy. I thought Homecoming was always (or usually) the first home game after a road game after a home game. "Am I crazy?" is apart from the second thought? Homecoming is often thought of as: Your team has been on the road, they come back home, so it's Homecoming. I mean, in HS, if they played two towns over, or the city school zone next to yours, then you play at yourby billhoward - Other Sports

jtwcornell91 Looks nice, although the location could be better. Close to Wegmans, I guess. We ended up making a reservation at the Embassy Inn on Dryden Road, which is also a bit far out of town, but was relatively cheap. 3 miles, 6 minutes by car is not that far from Lynah. $225 a night will certainly help their profitability. One might find it upscale if you lived in U-Halls. Possible housby billhoward - Hockey

We blow out Yale thanks to good play and to terrible Yale hands in the first half, there's fan enthusiasm, and now football is getting game by game separate subjects. When I ran out of Schoellkopf from the Yale game, for a moment, a crazy stupid moment, I thought, if we can beat Yale and Yale is supposed to be the best Ivy team, could we ... win the Ivy title outright for the first time, new coacby billhoward - Other Sports

If I had to guess I would say one came from the Denver coach given how we played them last year (and he can’t vote for Denver) but not sure how we got two. There have been other slow posts from Cornell athletics PR. That shouldn't be. It may be that Cornell does not have enough people to handle about 15 sports in the fall and there is fall/winter overlap come October. Writing sports is not rocket science and Cornell could turn to students who are paid or, ah, AI could do it, too. At least one other Ivy school pays a veteran sportswriter (read: old oby billhoward - Other Sports

Al DeFlorioIt's the WSJ. All success is measured in $$$. More politely, the Wall Street Journal says it weighted more heavily the impact the school has on the young scholar's later financial well-being. rss77 Swamstrom has been given more resources than Archer. Let's hope it works out. Success in college sports sports comes down to recruiting and that was Archer and many other Cornell coaches have fallen short(Exceptions granted to Musick, Baughan, and Hofher regimes). Re: Cornell at Sacred Heart weekend - 4 weeks ago
Jim Hyla appears to be right on all counts: When there's a penalty box area for both teams and near one bench, that's the home team side, and in the seating chart, that shows the box in front of section 107 (not on this image but another that is low-res) thus Sacred Heart bench is at the bottom in front of section 106, so visiting Cornell must be in front of section 117. There seemed to be fewer-than-expected Cornell commits. When Cornell football opens its season Sept. 21 at Colgate, it will be, obviously, Cornell's first game. Colgate will be playing its fourth game: narrow 17-14 loss to Villanova in August then a crushing 28-3 loss to then No. 5 (FCS) Villanova. Colgate jumped to an early lead Saturday (9/14) over Akron, 14-0, which is a reminder of what a terrible nickname Zips is when you're getting shut out. Eveby billhoward - Other Sports
