upprdeck Denver was lucky to win the first 3 games and then played a really nice final game to win it all. Interestingly, Denver played an indirect, but significant role, in Cornell’s emergence as a hockey power. Ned Harkness was good friends with Murray Armstrong, the highly successful coach at Denver from 1956-77 (460-215-31), with five NCAA Championships. Armstrong had scouted twin broby George64 - Hockey

billhoward The only one that was worth a smile was after Ryan Goldstein tied the game: "Not only is he skinny as a chimney sweep, but he's got the hands of a mohel." That line reminded me of one of the truly great SNL ad parodies. The actual ad extolled the smooth ride of a Lincoln by showing a diamond cutter practicing his craft in the backseat. The SNL takeoff substituted a mohelby George64 - Other Sports

ugarte George64 My understanding of “red shirting” is that athletes matriculate, practice with their team for a year or two, but not play, but take some classes to ease their academic burden during their following four playing years. Hypothetically, could a non-Ivy athlete practice with his team for two years, but not compete, then play in his final two years, graduate on time, and then playby George64 - Hockey

BearLover I agree. It’s evidence of an honestly run program, plus evidence that the players value the Cornell degree. In the world of the transfer portal, if your school provides a valuable four-year degree, that’s a benefit. And I agree that if we had Malone and Tupker, we’d still be playing. I agree, but Malone and Tupker both graduated. They didn’t just bolt for greener pastures. Whaby George64 - Hockey
