Re: 2024-25 MEN'S SCHEDULE - 2 months ago
Too bad the Michigan-Ohio state football game always falls on the same day (I’m 98% certain anyway). One of those teams could probably help us fill up MSG if their fans weren’t preoccupied with “the game”. Sorry if this has been mentioned before (it probably has). Although we did play Michigan one year. How was that turnout in regards to Wolverine fans?by toddlose - Hockey

mgl11 As a sporting tangential board, Dave Bliss '65 at least deserves a mention -- no? Was unaware of him as well. Just looked him up amd read a couple articles. I also see he’s a member of our hall of fame.by toddlose - John Spencer Is Dead

scoop85 toddlose Just curious on everyone’s thoughts. Doesn’t need to be political. Every institution has someone that they wish wasn’t associated with their Alma mater. As much as I might like to say Ann Coulter, this guy has to be #1 Holy shit. I was unaware of him.by toddlose - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 6 months ago
scoop85 chimpfood I would’ve let them score at the beginning of the powerplay to give us 2:30 to get 2 instead of :30 to get one. But idk we got a great chance and didn’t get it. So frustrating. That’s nuts, sorry. +1,000,000. think nuts is too soft of a word.by toddlose - Hockey
Re: NCAA Round 1 - Maine - 6 months ago
cth95 I was a dairy farmer and always worked when I was sick. I would want to play. The difference is, I was helping people by getting my chores done so they didn't have to do extra work. On a team in an important game, you would be hurting your teammates if you tired quickly and your reflexes were slower than normal. As a goalie, a split second can be the difference between a great save andby toddlose - Hockey

No shot of alternating campuses like with the ILT? Have exemptions with rinks under a certain capacity? Sucks for Princeton, but who cares? Guaranteed sellouts more than not. Not saying I like it, but just a thought.by toddlose - Hockey

Re: NYS NIL law - 1 year ago
ugarte upprdeck with NY state passing a law that says the NCAA can not punish NY schools for NIL transgressions, wouldnt the next step be that NY state passes a law that says the IVY can punish NY state schools for things the IVY league puts in place? So like Cornell giving out scholies could not be enforeced by the IVY league?scholarships aren't NIL, they are direct payments from the school noby toddlose - Hockey
Re: Wrestling 2022-23 - 1 year ago
dbilmes Deadspin just published this long article about how Princeton is becoming a wrestling powerhouse, without a single mention of Cornell in the entire story. The article makes it sound like no Ivy team has ever become a national contender in wrestling. In any case, with an ambitious coach and big bucks backing from Wall Street, it sounds like Princeton will be our toughest rivals in the Ivieby toddlose - Other Sports
Re: Who deserves 2023 D1 championship - 1 year ago
Trotsky toddloseAnd maybe a NC will make a move to Hockey East happen sooner?? (That’s wishful thinking anyway) I would think they would stay until pushed. Why not? With few exceptions it looks like they can be penciled in as a bye team every season, much as we were once. But the only ways I can see us pushing would be self-defeating (imposing Ivy-like restrictions on the rest of the confereby toddlose - Hockey

billhoward A reason to matriculate: Quinnipiac is a great place for dorky guys to meet cute girls. (A poster above noted video of the cheer squad at the FF in Tampa.) Women are two-thirds of the student body. If you can't meet somebody there, you aren't working the crowd. I want Quinnipiac to win because this gives our conference three NCAA championships 2013-2023. I also believe Rand Pecby toddlose - Hockey

Re: 2022 Incoming Recruits - 1 year ago
If it wasn’t for Covid, we would potentially only be 3 years removed from a national championship (we were ranked #1 at the time and had as good/if not better chance than anyone). When was the last time Harvard was ranked #1? I can’t recall seeing that for a decent amount of years (I could be wrong).by toddlose - Hockey

arugula George64 David Harding Who was the next Cornellian to make the NHL after Ken Dryden? Or any pro league? As long as Ken Dryden’s name came up — I recently started reading The 100 Most Notable Cornellians.
