Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - Yesterday
abmarks for all this talk of smaller rinks wanting regionals more, if memory serves, there's been decent to excellent ticket historically for regionals in Manchester, Providence and Worcester, all of which are well north of the 5k seat mark. Granted attendance would vary depending upon how many of the local schools are playing there, but those have to be better venue choices than 3k-5k seat rinby marty - Hockey

chimpfood On the CHN podcast today Adam said that he supports teams being able to host regionals in their own rinks but should only play there if they are a one or two seed. To me, this makes no sense to not just do home games for the first two rounds. Firstly, it shows that he has no issue with schools hosting NCAA games in their home rink and this system doesn’t eliminate home advantage, it jusby marty - Hockey

jtwcornell91 Iceberg I find it crazy that the committee or whoever is responsible couldn't find another site in the midwestern US. There has to be a ton of better arenas willing to do this event at a tolerable cost. Now that they're doing the regionals on Thursday-Saturday and Friday-Sunday, couldn't one site bid to host both regionals? The Eastern sites are close enough that dedicated fans coby marty - Hockey

Chris '03 Jeff Hopkins '82 To give you an idea of how second class this tournament feels, there are no programs at the rink and not even a QR code to scan for one (like there was last year). They just didn't bother creating one. Also, there's a single tiny stand selling souvenirs. None of it has the name of the schools on it - all the souvenirs simply have the tournament logo. Re: ECAC Semifinal - Dartmouth - 5 days ago
Scersk '97 Loved the moment deep in the third where our guys pinned it against the wall in the Dartmouth end for a good 45 seconds. Old time hockey. Old time hockey had a whistle after 5 seconds or so of that. Kevin Pettit used to pin the puck with flair when he wanted a face off.by marty - Hockey

imafrshmn arugula I seem to recall that the Boston Garden was nearly full for the ECAC in the mid 80s. I get that we can’t go back there, but how about Barclays or UBS or the Prudential. I’m sure MSG is too pricy. In the highly likely event that Cornell is in the semi finals there will be a strong likely five figure not half empty crowd. imafrshmn Even though I love ECAC Hockey and would not want to change the conference (except maybe sending Q to HE), it's kind of bothersome how small-time this league looks in the postseason compared to HE and B1G. In football we have seen the B1G and SEC schools claiming that top tier for themselves and it seems like a similar thing is evolving in hockey. Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - 10 days ago
rss77 Per the ESPN coverage-I know it's cheaper for them to have remote announcers but they could have invested in a on site spotter to convey the adjustments made in the respective teams' lineups. E.g. Cornell short stick d-middies- no Chris Davis or Aiden Blake doing shifts, etc. Could have also suggested that all teams wearing orange are not from Syracuse.by marty - Other Sports

Swampy Trotsky Huggy bear was garbage. It's not our bear; it's an inconsequential marketing gimmick from a period that was singularly soulless. This is our bear: When I started Cornell in 1964, I brought a bear sweatshirt home for my younger brother, who was nine. He really liked the bear, as I think most kids would.
