Re: LP-Accommodations, etc. - 22 years ago
John, I just happened to notice that last night. Funny and informative (loved the "skiers" line). They don't happen to let us measly under-21-ers into Mudpuddles, do they? even if we're not drinking? even if we're only a week short of being 21? And any info on LP ticket limits at the Athletic Office? anyone?by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Scoreboard - 22 years ago
Just because the RPI scoreboard person is a jokester, doesn't mean we're Dartmouth fans . Because as sweet as it'd be to kick Dartmouth's lilly white @$$e$ all the way back to Hanover... or, well, the consolation game... I for one would still rather face a team we're 2-0 against.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: LP-Accommodations, etc. - 22 years ago
We have reservations at the Carriage House Inn - across the street from the EconoLodge - reportedly about a mile from the rink. Booked too late to get any 'brand name' hotels. A group of 8 psyched Cornell undergrads! I just have one question... I'm planning on buying tickets tomorrow at the Ticket Office in the Field House (or whatever they call that place now ). I assume the difference betweenby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: PWR after Saturday - 22 years ago
Their conference doesn't get an auto-bid, so it doesn't matter anyways. They're playing bc their part of the conference. -DeltaOne81 '03, Fredby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

To make all you guys feel better (maybe) about this Findlay stuff, they'll count next year. Doesn't help us now, but it's only a very temporary situation. -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: At Large Bid to NCAAs? - 22 years ago
I generally understand this pretty well, though I am pretty tired at the moment, but I just want to back up the idea that a tournmanet game counts no more than any other game. Loosing in the first round would hurt because it would have to be two games we've lost. As far as loosing the championship game vs. the semifinals, it doesn't make a difference (so long as we win the consolation in the lateby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: ECAC first round - 22 years ago
Wow, I'm totally blanking on that - but at least I'm glad to hear it. That's the way it should be. OT is OT and that's all there is, anything else is a rip off . I'd smack my head a couple times to see if I can shake out that memory, but at the moment I'm afraid I'd knock out some prob & stats info I need. -DeltaOne81 '03, Fredby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: ECAC first round - 22 years ago
That '97 Harvard (sucks) series listing reminds me of a question... are we technically on first to 3 points, with 5 minute OTs? or is it the good ol' play-til-someone-wins NHL-style format? Edit: in connection with that, I assume if game three went to OT, someone would have to win NHL-style (meaning, unending OTs) - I'm praying we don't do something stupid like a shootout or goal-diff.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: PSA: Do not climb over seemless glass - 22 years ago
Well, I'm hoping it wouldn't take 15 minutes. If it would, forget it (obviously). I'm hoping they could send out 4 guys, two to section D/E, two to A/B, and take down a pain per group in 2 minute or so... I think that would be worth waiting for. If it's much longer than that, then yeah, my idea doesn't fly. Just wanted to throw it out there. And I'm not saying I don't still love being on the iceby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: PSA: Do not climb over seemless glass - 22 years ago
It's so much less fun this way. I got to do it once my freshman year and it was just such a better tradition to "flood" the ice than it is to line up and calmly preceed onto it through a pre-designated area. I'm not saying I don't understand, nor do I plan on risking life & limb to relive it, but, grrr, just frustrating. I have a compromise though, how difficult would it be to takeby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: 3/4/02 polls - 22 years ago
It's interesting how the PWR can be discussed for days, yet the polls draw little attention lately. I guess 'cause there'smore to talk about with stats then with opinions - plus, the PWR matters. We can yammer on for hours about how the stats show us to be whatever position and how the next game will effect that, but when it comes to the pollsters, well, they're just wrong ) .by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Underhill - 22 years ago
Ok, maybe I'm the only one who missed it so far, but I just heard "shot off the leg." And if you're not listening to the game but can be (why you'd do that, I dunno), they'll be an interview with him later.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: PWR 3/1 - 22 years ago
RPI being the tie-breaker is only USCHO's way to do it. The committee has no official way, but just looks at all factors. Actually, the committee doesn't use PWR at all as USCHO shows it, they pretty much only see the 'individual data' kind of things, in which case they'd see us tieing with teams like BU, Maine, etc, beating Minnesota... not shabby .by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: pwr question - 22 years ago
There's no way to say for sure without some massive calculations, though if someone has nothing better to do for the next two days, feel free . Why so difficult? Well, it would effect our Last 16, it would effect our RPI and the RPI of those two other schools, and the RPI of every school who has played any of us and the RPI of any school who has played any of the schools that have played anyby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Underhill - 22 years ago
Not a lot of info, but this is what the USCHO rescap (http://uscho.com/recaps/20012002/m/03/01/cor-rpi.php) says: "The game did not start on a good note for the Big Red. Matt Underhill, who was scheduled to start in net, took a shot in the warmup and did not return." They also quote Schafer as saying "It was a rough way to start, to lose your goaltender on a shot in warmup and thby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: PWR 3/1 - 22 years ago
Could knocking that N. Michigan loss out of our Last 16 really have been worth 5-ish positions? I'm not going to begin to speculate on what the remaining 3 games (2 meaningful) will mean for the PWR, but at the moment we've in a 2 way tie for 5th, loosing the tie breaks to (screw) BU, as we always do.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: CHAMPIONS! (PART 2) - 22 years ago
Not to question his integrity at ALL (not Maas', Teeter's - I'm not gonna get into the other one), but just from a general ECAC kinda-perspective, isn't it not a good idea to have people associated with the program be goal judges. Not that 99.9% of people couldn't be totally unbiased 99.9% of the time, but it just seems as if they're taking a risk somewhere in there. Hey, can I ref in Lake Placiby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Cornell VS Clarkson , Saturday Feb 23rd - 22 years ago
I didn't mean to sound pompous. Due to other things in my life, I'm not having the best night, so I'm not going to type much, but I'm sorry. I think the internet may have made things come across worse than they were meant. Believe me, I would never condone bottle throwing or throwing of anything other than newspapers and fish at the Harvard (sucks) game. I'd rather have Clarkson do that at everyby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Cornell VS Clarkson , Saturday Feb 23rd - 22 years ago
I wouldn't insult them for their energy, as annoying as it might be the ECAC needs more schools with fans like Clarkson (and the Lynah Faithful of course). I just felt that whole lighters thing was mocking our respect for our school, which isn't to be touched. The emotional equivalent of bottle-throwing if you will. I dunno, just pissed me off, as I'm sure you can tell.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Cornell VS Clarkson , Saturday Feb 23rd - 22 years ago
About the alma mater... was I the only one to take exception to the whole lighters thing? Did you guys see it as a genuine tribute, bc I thought it was a mockery. Mocking the team, expected, mocking the fans, acceptable... mocking the school's alma mater? Get some class.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: goaltending possibilities - 22 years ago
Wow, I leave this thread alone for not even one day and it changed into a talk on nicknames... very impressive swing , not that I mind, and I'm particularly honored by the post from "Mr. Radio Guy" himself. If Underhill or LeNeveu (see, got it now ) were to post, I think I could consider my life complete (j/k). LOL Now, if you wouldn't mind working a bit more for us, Robb, I'm sure we'd all be interested in the burning question on everyone's mind... what's the worst UVM can do? Re: goaltending possibilities - 22 years ago
Ok, damn good point, so I'm definitely routing for LeNevue to play Friday then and beat the pants off of SLU... with Underhill going the rest of the way this season and getting his 10th win Senior night... yeah, that'd be nice < drifts off to a land of lollypops and gumdrops >by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: goaltending possibilities - 22 years ago
Yeah, I realized that, but as much as I appreciated Burt's efforts, I think everyone knew that Underhill was #1 and is/was the better goalie by a long shot. I'm not saying Senior Night is the only factor, the team comes first so you do what's best for the team, and last year that was playing Underhill. But this year, as great as LeNevue's been, Underhill's still going to get the reins when cruby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
goaltending possibilities - 22 years ago
I'm gonna go out on a bit of a limb here and say that this is the weekend that Schafer finally kills the traditional 'goalie rotation' that he's set up. He said a couple weeks ago that he would pick a goalie for the playoffs and that he already "had a pretty good idea" who it'd be. Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that it's Underhill? He's the senior, it's his last shot, and althoughby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Ok, so I've been looking around, and I sorta have to disagree about places beings sold out. A lot of the places that let you check availabilility/reserve online are sold out, but there also seem to be a bunch of places available if you're willing to call. Check out lakeplacid.com and click on "Where to Stay" at the top, then do a search. I've found at least a dozen places with rooms atby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
