Re: The actual GAME against Harvard - 22 years ago
I agree with what you said for the vast majorty (believe it or not). We absolutely should have taken advantage of Hansen's swallowed whistle and we didn't. The difference between the reffing style being "good" and being "bad both ways" is subjective and overall it's unimportant. I think it was the Murray call which just blew it for me. It took him from a ref who was letting tby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: 1st round: Quinnipiac - 22 years ago
It's a standard sheet, so, uh, no... And as for the nickname thing... I've heard them referred to as 3 things... the Braves (still), the "Blue and Maize" (which is just simply descriptive), and this "Quahogs" thing floating around the USCHO boards - some Native American word for clam apparently. Not sure exactly where it comes from in relation to the team.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: The actual GAME against Harvard - 22 years ago
I can't seem to edit on the new eLynah, so I just wanted to say that I'm not bitching. As I said before, I don't blame the ref for the outcome. I'm just sharing my honest opinions on the way Hansen conducted himself that night.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: The actual GAME against Harvard - 22 years ago
Of the two examples you gave ("by the book/penalty box parade" or "hands-off", I think they're both pretty bad approaches. It's not good to send a player to the box for bumping or some light grabbing or light tapping - nor is it good to ignore persistent clutching and tripping and slashing and *punching in the back of the head*. There's definitely a happy medium in there withby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

<VENT>My vote: the guy who was sitting in the Cornell student section this weekend, row G. At first, it seemed like he had a reasonable excuse - he had little kids who wouldn't be able to see... That is until you realize (which I noticed) that his kids did nothing but read and color and sleep all game. He was also one of those "this is my rightful seat" people, as some Clarkson fby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Games on TV? - 22 years ago
I'll be at the CU-QU game, but I have to come back to school Sunday. I'll plan to head back early if we win Saturday, to get back in time for the 3:30 game, but will it be on cable in Ithaca? Empire?!? As cool as it'd be, the dorm don't carry DirecTV . Or will I be listening to Grady again (not that there's anything particularly wrong with that). -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: The actual GAME against Harvard - 22 years ago
Before this turns into a fight, I just want to say I don't think anyone is disagreeing here. We *were* outplayed - we were not screwed by the ref. I don't think a single person has disagreed with that. That doesn't mean the reffing still didn't suck though. I think everyone's on the same page on that too.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tix - 22 years ago
Yup, just before I ordered ticketmaster tickets I got through to Cornell. They said they'd know tomorrow. I got absolute back row (I think) nosebleed seats through ticketmaster. Damnit, since when is hockey that popular! -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Off-topic: Hunter Rawlings to retire in 15 months - 22 years ago
There would be, but there'd be way to much controversy about the random cut-offs for PUC's (professors under consideration).by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tix - 22 years ago
That would be much appreciated. I'll be calling myself, but some 'inside info' from someone who got tickets would be great. Seeing as I plan to get up to call not much after 10, I think I should hit the bed -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: The actual GAME against Harvard - 22 years ago
As for the refing, yes, it was pretty damn bad, but it didn't loose us the game, we did that all on our own. Except for that Murray call, the ref was horrible both ways, ignoring everything. He decided to swallow his whistle way too early and way too extremlye that night. Why he pulled it back out to give Hahvahd a last second opportunity I have no idea. PIG: RPI @ Dartmouth, 3/14 - 22 years ago
As I'm waiting for the PIG to begin, and for the WEOS broadcast to kick in, two other scores to note. MAAC powerhouse (a oxymoron maybe, but true) soundly took down UConn 5-0 today in the MAAC semis, and UAH won their play-in-game 4-1, which would be great for us if it weren't against Findlay. But enough about Findlay - on to the ECAC! -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

It's Empire Sports - so it's pretty much only NY. NESN is New England sports so it's only New England. Elsewhere only if you have a satellite.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: Directions to LP - 22 years ago
I definitely see why that 3A route is better, but is it really quicker to go up to 48 and over small-ish roads rather than getting off at 45 right onto 3? Also, what about the statement elsewhere on this board not to go up to Watertown, but instead to get off at the Fort Drum exit. And where exactly *is* Fort Drum, or at least the exit. -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03 driverby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Another pledge drive - 22 years ago
This thread just reminded me of something I would like to share. For those of you who haven't heard of the NHLFA, it's a fan advocacy group for the NHL fans and hockey fans in general (after all, what the NHL does effects much of the rest of hockey in at least some way). It's supposed to be the fan's answer to the NHLPA and, well, the rest of the NHL... advocating the fan's perspective in this tiby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Sun article on CU Hockey History 3/12 - 22 years ago
Was I the only one bothered by... The team recently won another ECAC title and is primed to make a run at the national championship. They must have been running out of space at the end - heck, he jumped from Harkness to 96 - but they should really distinguish between 'regular season title' and the true 'champs.' Besides, let's not push our luck yet. A bid isn't even wrapped up. But it was a greaby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: LP-Accommodations, etc. - 22 years ago
I went at around 12 and they were clearly starting to run out. Seems like there's been a bit of a line all day. I heard, uh, that guy (the AD? I dunno, I see him around all the time - the one who always makes the 'thank you' announcements at the ticket lines - no, not Schaefer ) make a comment on how they were selling "somewhat better than usual." Re: PWR after Saturday - 22 years ago

Re: Hopes for the weekend - 22 years ago
Too much thinking for me today. The only thing I can see right off the bat, Niagra getting to the CHA finals (edit: even if they loose) would make them a TUC again. One more TUC win can't hurt . -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: PWR after Saturday - 22 years ago
Hmmm, ok... I was getting most of my information from USCHO. For instance this quote: "Teams are then ranked by PWR point total, with ties broken by looking at the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI). Note: this tiebreaking procedure is used solely for convenience in displaying the PWR, and will not necessarily match the committee's process. This is especially true near the end of the top 12,by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: LP-Accommodations, etc. - 22 years ago
<insert relaxed face here> I guess just the mention of "camping out" scares me . I absolutely love hockey, but I'm just not the kind of person who can or wants to dedicate a whole night to sleeping in the cold for tickets. The thought of a 'rush' at 10 AM (or before) just took me by surprise. I knew I could get tickets, but I just didn't want to get... well, I dunno, it was a stby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: LP-Accommodations, etc. - 22 years ago
Ok, now you're scaring me . I have a class at 10:10 which has a prelim the next day, so I wasn't planning on getting my ticket until at least my first break at noon. Maybe not until after I get off work at 3. I've heard tickets don't sell out (which you appear to agree with by the "unsold portion" remark). Re: PWR after Saturday - 22 years ago
Of all the bad little catches that come out of Findlay, UAH, etc, here's one piece of good news: For those of you who understand how the PWR relate to the actual selection process (if you don't, USCHO has FAQs on all thie stuff), Cornell is currently the last "above the bubble team" - us and everyone above us has beaten everyone below us. Colorado Col is the first bubble team, since thby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
