Re: NCAA Tournament Expansion - 22 years ago
Closer, but not yet entirely approved. (Was this the committee that killed it last year?) It's at the same stage as it was weeks ago when USCHO first reported it. I believe this was the committee that killed it last time, yes. And, Age, I don't think that's true. The vote that the article talks about happened this past Tuesday (aka, 3 days ago) - " A proposal to increase the number of teaby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament Expansion - 22 years ago
I still won't believe it till I see it, since we have been waiting so long, but it does look a little more likely now than before. See it below! From the Ann Arbor New: I don't know how this passed under the radar . Does USCHO stop all article writing in the off-season or something? You'd think the near-guarantee of expansion finally coming to be would be worth 10 minutes of someone's time..by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: The Best Fans on the Best Forum - 22 years ago
Brian- I think the only people who would label the Lynah Faithful as "awful" are ones with way too thin skins. Like the elderly (?) Yale alum we discussed once. If you can take teasing with a sense of humor and maybe even *try* to defend yourself, then you should be very impressed with the Lynah crowd. IMNSHO -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: Complete List of All Cornell NCAA Titles - 22 years ago
From last year's article: A seven-goal outburst in the third chukker sealed the 24-11 victory for the Red, which captured its second straight national title and ninth in the program's storied history. So I wonder how many "unsanctioned" (shall we say, Harvard-esque) national titles Cornell has?by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Underhill's Place in the C.U. Record Book - 22 years ago
(BTW, I wonder how our two goalies' ECAC numbers (1.52 & 1.54) this year rank all-time in the league... ??) What makes me think they rank pretty much the same as the list you just showed? . Thanks for the great post, as if we didn't appeciate those guys enough, hehe. -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: [Off-topic] Lacrosse - 22 years ago
Technically Cornell doesn't play any more hockey games this season, so it IS the off-season, unfortunately it just started earlier than at 4 other schools. Well, with the ice having been melted last night, it's as hockey-off-season as it gets around here Ah, okay, so technically technically, it's the Cornell hockey off-season, but not the hockey off-season. Before it sounds like I'm being pickby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

what is this...the e-Schoellkopf forum? but no serious i am loving the lax coverage...but let me say again what everyone is thinking....the hockey offseason SUCKS Technically, it's not the off-season yet or should that be a ?by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: [Off-topic] Lacrosse - 22 years ago
Yup, men's hockey for the $$$, women's softball for the Title IX, men's lacrosse because, well, they need it too . Women's softball is hoping to expand from 48 to 64, so that's a total package increase of 16 women's teams and only 8 men's teams, looking like a nice Title IX move, which is one of the reasons it's on the top of the committee's priority list this season (as opposed to be seventh (?by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: April Fools! - 22 years ago
Reminds me of a particularly nasty one from the early '90s, back when the joke issue came out sometime in October. October? Why? Did it used to be October Fool's Day? I understand a couple of hockey players got hooked by that one and called the hockey office in dismay, and whoever was on the other end told them to "look at the front page" I wonder what Murray/LeNeveu's response wasby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: [Off-topic] Lacrosse - 22 years ago
Just talking out of my ass here (where's Melissa when I need her), but perhaps what wins championships is being exceptional in whatever facet of the game is currently weak, nationally. When defenses tend to be strong and offense is a rare commodity, the few teams with great offenses get more from their excellence than the teams with great defenses. A very reasonable theory. Speaking of the Big Red D-machine, I couldn't help but notice... Of the top 4 offensive teams in college hockey, 3 are in the Frozen Four Of the top 4 defensive teams in college hockey, none are... in fact, you have to go to 9 before you get two. Don't get me wrong, I've always been a defense-first kinda fan, so I love Schafer's style, and I do believe that defense wins championships... but notby DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Krzysztof drafted... sorta - 22 years ago
The United Hockey League held it's amateur draft a couple weeks ago and our very own Mr. Krzysztof Wieckowski was picked up by the Adirondack (Glens Falls) team. I have a hunch this is quite non-binding, because the players could easily get another, better offer. There are a few other ECAC names on there, such as Mr. Way-Too-Long-Name (Ellis-Toddington) and Matt Poapst of Clarkson - drafted by Bby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

Re: Nieuwendyk v. Manderville - 22 years ago
They couldn't survive in Hartford because Peter Kar-moron never intended to keep them there. He bought the team in a shady deal. He played the city and the state to get them to make up his losses until he could split town. He ran season ticket drives with ever increasing goals so suck as much money out of the residents and have an excuse to take off. Everytime the state came close to matching hisby DeltaOne81 - Hockey

One thing's always bothered me about the bears... they can tear up parts of the ice pretty badly. Geez guys, let the players have a fresh surface for at least a little while.by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Recruits website? - 22 years ago
Tom/John... Todd Marr is the name, and I've heard he's pretty good - not that he got a shot this year. My hunch is he'll "compete" for the #1 spot, but LeNeveu will win. You can certainly get away with two goalies (and a prayer) for a season... and if not, maybe they could tempt Gartman back (j/K). -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
Re: Next year's schedule - 22 years ago
As for games over break, 3 PM on Sunday shouldn't be too much to ask for most of the Lynah Faithful... Saturday is iffier, but I definitely plan on being there. Also, my sister (a Sr in High School) just got into BU and very well may end up there next year... bwaahaha, what a rivalry . And, Grady, I guess that means no Mercyhurst? Re: Doug Murray - Senior Year? - 22 years ago
I definitely agree with Age's perspective on this. While having no extra information on myself, it just doesn't seem likely. Leavng an Ivy League school one year from graduation with a team that has serious chance at national contention next year just sorta seems... unusual. ...plus everything Age said . -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey

This is a holy war? Sorry... I retract my statements . I agree, LP is magical and I wouldn't trade it for any place. Interesting to know that Olympic Size is technically the official size... seems odd for 95% of rinks to be "North American sized" then, though I guess it's a good thing for us/Schafer/Cornell. -Fred, DeltaOne81 '03by DeltaOne81 - Hockey
