Yeah, well, you know, we chill at the lodge and all, but I'd rather emphasize the lunch part of it so you know I'm not just some snowbunny who bothers the Bodester at parties.by Jerseygirl - Hockey

Um...hm. Well, I think the Paul Wylie scholarship to which you are referring is meant to fund training, Sarah chose Yale, and Emily is 16. Their older sister went to Harvard though.by Jerseygirl - Other Sports

Febreze the hell out of it. That stuff works. When I was in school and would come home too drunk to shower but reeking of alcohol and cigarette smoke (not my own, ew) to a degree where I could not concentrate on falling asleep, I used to febreze myself to get rid of the smell. It's probably a whopper of a carcinogen that I didn't need in my hair/on my body, but I'm most likely up for a bout or twby Jerseygirl - Hockey

The most insulting thing about the column is that it takes two minutes of one's life to read. That is far, far too long for the writing quality contained therein. If it's somehow sarcastic, that makes the writing even worse, because it's another area of failure. This seems to be the M.O. of a lot of companies providing similar service -- practically every time my company webcasts a presentation, I'm on the phone with our account representative, threatening to fire our webcast provider because they keep blaming an "XML feed issue on end" for their inability to have our presentation up and ready to go, with pleasant hold music streaming for remoby Jerseygirl - Hockey

If all-access actually worked, then no one on this site would be able to get off on complaining that it didn't work. For what it's worth, which is certainly not much, I've had absolutely zero problems with accessing game feeds during the season. I use Safari on a Mac, but I don't know if that has any impact. Maybe I'm just magic. That's certainly possible.by Jerseygirl - Hockey

It's not uncommon for drugs like Ritalin to make their users irritable when the drug is wearing off. That's why SSRIs like Paxil, Zoloft, etc. are often used in concert when treating ADD/ADHD -- they take the edge off the irritability. Translation: after school when the lunchtime dose of Ritalin wears off, 25 mg of Zoloft makes one less apt to get cranky over the littlest thing. Can't say I'veby Jerseygirl - Hockey

If you were to taunt someone for having ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, what have you, they'll probably do what we learned to do a long time ago: think you're an asshole and be done with it. But they'd probably be too hyper-focused (which is what happens when the ADD pendulum swings the other way) to even notice. I speak from personal experience.by Jerseygirl - Hockey

The line/mob/stampede has created a lot of negative energy. We've certainly built on that on the forum. I've built on that in the forum. A lot of people have. Let's try and get beyond it. Maybe we should spend some time remembering the good stuff about Cornell hockey. Sorry, Chris '03. College students, assuming they're of normal college age are adults, and should be held accountable for their behavior as such. If they're incapable of keeping their shit together, they should answer for that. I never said this "line" idea was a good one, and I believe I referred to it as a debacle roughly twice as often as I called it a line, just so we're clearby Jerseygirl - Hockey

What if Schafer's opinion is that the students obviously couldn't handle themselves in any of the recent line incarnations and they should be held accountable for acting like animals this time, so the only option is to go back to a mail-in process? Re: hockey line forming - 18 years ago
Yes, the plan was ultimately, but not solely, Gene's responsibility, but the fans/facetimers/stampeding water buffaloes in dirty white frat caps have no one to blame for their behavior but themselves. I'm not excusing Gene's implication in this b.s., I'm just trying to explain to people who might not know how these things work that it's not just Gene sitting in his office concocting some tickby Jerseygirl - Hockey
Re: hockey line forming - 18 years ago
The ticket line procedure was vetted by all sorts of campus departments and organizations, including (I believe) the Student Assembly. I wasn't there to witness the carnage, but it sounds like it was handled poorly by those directly responsible for line organization and supervision (states Captain Obvious). I think anyone who's ever had any experience with the Cornell ticket office knows thatby Jerseygirl - Hockey
Re: Recruit stat updates - 18 years ago
See, I am just a huge fan of lurking variables. Hated the math portion of statistics, loved the part where I got to explain the outcome and why it was or wasn't valid. But probably my favorite part of (high school) stats class ever was when our teacher had us try to guess the suits of a deck of cards that our partner held up facing him or her, in an attempt to prove that ESP did not exist. Because why not just call them game notes? Do you call a hockey game recap a "puff piece" just because it's written by Cornell Athletics, posted on www.cornellbigred.com and meant to portray the team in the best possible light? Re: Cornell All-Access - 18 years ago
They're called game notes, Al, and they're pretty standard for any athletic communications department to put out for the major sport being played that season. Everything on the Cornell athletics website *should* be a puff piece, as the site exists to promote Cornell athletics.by Jerseygirl - Hockey
