Re: Mulling over the TBRW Awards - 20 years ago
I'd like to add another Honorable Mention for the Belanger to Dan Murphy. As I already said in my notes on the game, this guy just wouldn't call Hitting from Behind or Roughing for either team, when it was plainly obvious to everyone else what was going on.by Will - Hockey

Thoughts and observations, ad nauseum. - 20 years ago
Another excellent game by the Red. They're ready for the playoffs. - Moulson's first goal was good, but his second goal was played out so well, I really couldn't believe my eyes. For once, taking one's time and lining up one's shot actually worked. (It also helped that two Clarkson players tripped over themselves and out of the way to help Moulson find the net.) - McKee was great as always, bby Will - Hockey

SLU(t) postgame thoughts - 20 years ago
Great game tonight. - We thoroughly dominated SLU(t) for most of the game, save for some time after the SLU(t) goal when they built up some momentum. - Some players seemed to have more skating trouble than usual. I don't think it was the ice; I suspect it may be a nagging consequence of the recent rash of injuries, though I could be wrong. - Good defense and great goaltending really won the gamby Will - Hockey

Did I misinterpret what the Terry Gage award is supposed to honor? Maybe I misread the description; if it's supposed to be as Avash tells it, then I would switch my vote to Jan Pajerski as well.by Will - Hockey

I've seen all but four (@Princeton, @Yale, and Everblades) Cornell games this season, so I think I should chime in on what I think. + Peter Natyshak Award, Career Improvement - With only four seniors, including one who came in a transfer, this category is made much simpler. I think it goes to Greg Hornby, who in my mind has beaten the untrue "goon" rap to become the heart and soul oby Will - Hockey

The SAFC responds! Basically, they gave the answer I thought they would give--they have to fund too many groups, so they have to scrutinize everyone and everything. Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if there was some measure of redundancy in some of the clubs on this campus (I think at one point not too long ago, there were three distinct video game clubs at Cornell, with seemingly similar gby Will - Hockey

I think it's in the team's best interests to get a first-round bye, for no other reason than it will give the players an extra week to get healthy and be at full strength for whoever we end up playing the following week. Hey, it'd be great if Zan and Jayna would come to Cornell and play on the hockey team. Zan: "Form of...a wall of ice!" *blocks the goal* Jayna: "Shape of...Wayne Gretzky in his prime!" *solves Cornell's offensive problems all by herself* One has to wonder if Mark and Matt or Cam and Chris have ever touched gloves and recited, "Wonder Twin powers activate!"by Will - Hockey

The double standard came about a minute after that when the Cornell Pep Band started the chat that ran throughout their entire student section, this chant ended with the entire student section screaming "F@*# 'em up, F@*# 'em up, F@*# 'em up."
