Re: Cornell University College of Business - 6 years ago
I'm sure we'll hear more about this within the next few weeks and months, but this is very suspicious. As an alumnus of one of the departments in the college I should really read up more about the whole union in the first place. Edit: The former dean will stay on as a faculty member. However, reasons for his resignation are still unknown and no one is saying anything. See here.by Iceberg - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Fake News? - 6 years ago
Cornell swept the season series against the Crimson and Big Green for the first time since 1996-97. Yeesh. Had it really been that long? Of course, Dartmouth and Harvard had different travel partners at that time because of Vermont's presence in the conference.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 6 years ago
Beeeej Just in case anybody was wondering, Tuesday night's travel partner tilt featuring Princeton at Quinnipiac will not affect our PWR position regardless of the result. Princeton winds up winning the game in a battle of two of the conference's bottom feeders. However, that last first-round home seed is very much up for grabs. The current 8th place team is Brown since they have the tiebreakby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Dartmouth 1/27/18 - 6 years ago
Not a bad game yesterday. It was obvious from the start that Cornell was the better team in terms of talent but that didn't mean it was going to be easy. Dartmouth's gameplan for most of the night was to clog the neutral zone, use a bit of a forecheck and try to capitalize on any confusion or turnovers. It worked to keep the game even for most of the 60 minutes but Cornell was able to capitalizeby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Dartmouth 1/27/18 - 6 years ago
Jim Hyla Dartmouth outshot Colgate 44-24 in their win. And yet Dartmouth only scored 2 goals. This is obviously another instance of the Colton Point Show and if Colgate ever finds any offense, they could be a scary first-round matchup for whichever team gets them.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Dartmouth 1/27/18 - 6 years ago
I'll be in Hanover for this game sitting in section 15 since that's close to where Cornell shoots twice. However, there are still a ton of unsold tickets online aside from the sections in dead center ice.by Iceberg - Hockey

And of course since I'm in Iceland it'll be midnight when the puck drops but that's ok. >_>by Iceberg - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Brown 1/13/18 - 6 years ago
Cornell seemed like they were going to run Brown out of the building in the first 10 minutes and then things kind of slowed down a bit after that. The PP didn't look very good and the passing was certainly not very crisp on some occasions. This was definitely a game where more than 3 goals could have been scored as there were all kinds of odd-man rushes and one-on-one chances that were just misseby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Brown 1/13/18 - 6 years ago
Cornell has been the quicker team so far by quite a good margin and have had several opportunities to score. The current Brown goaltender (who has a nice picture of the Chicago flag and skyline on the back of his helmet) is the main reason this game is still scoreless. Edit: And just as I make that post, a goal happens. Lol.by Iceberg - Hockey

Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 6 years ago
Princeton ties St. Cloud again, Dartmouth ties Duluth, and even St. Lawrence beat Lowell. Overall a better day for the conference and presumably a nice pairwise boost for Cornell before league play starts again next weekend.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 6 years ago
Not looking like a very good day for the conference overall. However, Princeton and St. Cloud are tied at 3 near the end of regulation and Dartmouth is leading UNH in the third.by Iceberg - Hockey

Denver's website has a highlight reel from the game, but it doesn't show the empty-netter.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 6 years ago
Any wins by Dartmouth or Princeton would certainly help Cornell's PWR. I don't see Dartmouth winning any games but I wouldn't be surprised if Princeton stole one from St. Cloud.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News - 6 years ago
Trotsky Clarkson beats SLU, goes to 7-0-0 in conference. And could be 8-0-0 by the end of tonight. No other games of major significance. However, it must be noted how badly QU and Dartmouth have been playing so far.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Miami 12/1-2 - Game 2 Cornell 4-0 - 6 years ago
upprdeck its a game over xmas break. IHS might bring a band but who knows given the holiday. Townies will be the only ones there and not in full force. Its an Opp most people dont even know play hockey. it was dead for the Niagara game and I think this will be an even worse crowd. Back when I was a student, the instructor for the PE hockey class had actually played for Canisius in the earlyby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Miami 12/1-2 - 6 years ago
Beeeej So, having been tied for 5th in PWR prior to this weekend, last night's loss drops us to... alone in 5th?! I assume it makes sense looking at the other results, I just haven't bothered. Well BU taking out BC last night certain helps. In fact, BU against any ranked team can only help us in the pairwise.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News - 6 years ago
Dartmouth just gave up 6 goals in Princeton...and that's only during the 1st period.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey, 11/25/17 - 6 years ago
ugarte BU is faster and prettier but we are stronger. Agree with upprdeck that there were a million lazy clearing attempts. Get some goddamn wood on the puck. Too often it was not only floating right to their man at the point but it was soft enough that he was able to pass it cleanly right off of the clear. I thought the first and third Galajda goals were kind of soft. Maybe he was screened oby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey, 11/25/17 - 6 years ago
Very impressed with Mullin in this game. He's fought through quite a number of these BU defenders tonight.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News - 6 years ago
Yale seemingly about to get shutout at home by UNH while QU is again losing to UMass. A few ECAC teams have played decently OOC but overall it's pretty bad so far.by Iceberg - Hockey

Colgate up 2-1 at Western Michigan but there's still two periods left. And Union/North Dakota starts in about 30 minutes.by Iceberg - Hockey

It doesn't matter that BU has not played all that great this season; if this is the Cornell team that shows up on Saturday, it will be a long night.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Niagara @ Cornell 11/21/17 - 6 years ago
Will Something I just discovered about Niagara: their volunteer goalie coach is Ian Burt '01 (now Dr. Ian Burt, PhD, CPA): Yep, it seems like he teaches some of the more introductory accounting courses there. It's actually a bit of dirty secret that there's a starting to be a lack of college-level accounting instructors since many of the current ones are approaching retirement. Re: Clarkson at Cornell 11/18/17 - 6 years ago
Well with 4 more games (all winnable I think) to go, there's still a lot of play left before the Holiday break. It wouldn't surprise me to see Stewart in net on Tuesday and then have Galajda start against BU. It does seem that teams are getting the memo to shoot high on Galadja but it's early in the season and he's playing well as a freshmen in net.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News - 6 years ago
And Minnesota is up 3-0 in the 2nd, so there goes the "help" for today.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News - 6 years ago
Some OOC games that could be of significance down the road--Harvard in Minnesota for 2 games and RPI hosting Notre Dame for 2 games. So far, the ECAC (for the most part) has done decently in OOC games and many more will happen within the next month.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News - 6 years ago
SLU is in a bad place right now. They lost some talent to graduation after last season but I don't think too many people expected them to be swimming in the toilet of the conference. They obviously have some offensive ability but have only won one game (a OOC in Wisconsin...go figure) since their season started in early October.by Iceberg - Hockey
Dartmouth vs. Cornell 11/10/17 - 6 years ago
Dartmouth is coming off a sweep at home against a (basically) one-line Yale team and a Brown team that continues to play poorly. Then again, it seems no matter how good or bad Dartmouth is, they always seem to be a problem. They haven't lost a game at Lynah since the early years of Andy Iles.by Iceberg - Hockey
