Re: 2019 ECAC 1R - 5 years ago
Princeton is a very unbalanced team and there was no way they were finishing that high. For them to drop as far as they did was a bit surprising, but defense and goaltending were never that team's strong points. That being said, the game was close up until about late into the 2nd period.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019 ECAC 1R - 5 years ago
IMO the most competitive series will be Princeton/Brown. That could go either way. I don't think the other three will be all that close, although Yale has been trending downward the past few weeksby Iceberg - Hockey

The goaltending in this game is shabby on both sidesby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Brown - 5 years ago
I can't really blame Galajda for any of those goals. On every instance there were uncovered guys near the crease or below the faceoff dots. That sequence was some of the worst defense all year easily.by Iceberg - Hockey

"I've been hit with a puck or three in the head in my day..." Well, I think that's been quite evident during this broadcast.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Brown - 5 years ago
I find this announcer mildly amusing in his criticism of Brown. It seems like we haven't heard him in a while because I don't think he's done some games in previous years.by Iceberg - Hockey

Re: 2019-02-02: #13 Cornell at RPI - 5 years ago
Dafatone Didn't we lose @RPI last year? Just checked, we did. Right around this time of year, too. Before yesterday the last two games in Troy were Cornell victories, and I remember this because I saw them in person. Before that though was a long stretch of either losses or ties because I think there was only one road win at RPI when I was a student, which was when the Devin brothers were sby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-02-02: #13 Cornell at RPI - 5 years ago
Clearly Cornell couldn't win because my RPI alumnus friend and I moved out of the area and couldn't see the game in person this year.by Iceberg - Hockey

This play-by-play guy seems to have an affection for Snoopy. I think he was mentioned 10 times in that periodby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-01-26: Colgate 3 Cornell 2 (ot) - 5 years ago
It just goes to show how much a good student section gets into the heads to certain players. That game will probably go down as the highlight of Colgate's season.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-01-26: Colgate 3 Cornell 2 (ot) - 5 years ago
Also, I can't recall the last time I've seen a Cornell team that looks dominant in OT. It's definitely been a while since any wins in the extra period. Edit: 2016 in the playoffs against Union, so almost 3 years.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-01-26: Colgate 3 Cornell 2 (ot) - 5 years ago
Yeah, Benson definitely kept the game close. Things just didn't look right after the tying goal, though. It's almost as if the play was more tentative. Maybe that was because of Colgate's more aggresive forecheck in the 3rd, but who knowsby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 18-19 - 5 years ago
Meanwhile, Northern Michigan is hosting Mankato this weekend. Mankato is right above Cornell in the pairwise right now and a Northern Michigan sweep would obviously be the most ideal thing.by Iceberg - Hockey

Bazin is the Lowell coach. The guy you want is Greg Carvel, who was paid around $318,000 in 2018.by Iceberg - Hockey

Re: Opponent News 18-19 - 5 years ago
So last night here in Philly, Princeton and Penn State played a game over at Wells Fargo Center (the Flyers arena) and it wound up being a pretty good game. I was able to go last minute because of a friend that works at Princeton and we saw Princeton play poorly for the first period (went down 4-1 and pulled their goaltender early in the 2nd) until they came all the way back to tie in the last 2by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 18-19 - 5 years ago
Princeton is a one-line team that was able to catch lightning in a bottle the second half of last year. Their issue has always been a lack of defense and goaltending, strength of schedule aside.by Iceberg - Hockey

The past month has nothing but misfortune. I think at this point it's safe to say ECAC championship or nothingby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2018-11-30: Cornell at Dartmouth - 5 years ago
If I still lived in Albany, I would've driven up to this game for sure. Dartmouth is inconsistent (as they seemingly are every year), but games in Hanover have always been thorny affairsby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Harvard at MSG - 5 years ago
That was sloppy and forced from start to finish. The 1st was OK, but then Harvard started to adjustby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 18-19 - 5 years ago
Yeah, it would seem like ASU is to be taken seriously this year. Overall, the conference didn't do too bad in OOC play this weekend, though.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 18-19 - 5 years ago
marty Also enjoyed not hearing the more annoying Qpuke announcer last night. Hopefully he's gone on to pee-wee play by play. If you're talking about Bill Schweizer, he retired at the end of the previous season.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2018-11-09: Cornell 3 Northern Michigan 1 - 5 years ago
Northern Michigan being in the WCHA could help down the road if they play well against the likes of Mankato and Bemidjiby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2018-11-09 Cornell at Northern Michigan - 5 years ago
2-1 now but that margin would be higher if it weren't for the Northern Michigan goalie. Edit: Make that 3-1 just a minute later. The goals are finally coming apparently.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2018-11-03: Cornell vs Brown - 5 years ago
For what it's worth, Cornell is one of only two teams that hasn't lost an in-conference game (the other being Princeton who tied Harvard last night). But yes, those two games in upper Michigan will be very important next weekend. Some OOC wins are definitely needed after the MSU games.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
Just to play devil's advocate, do we really need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on football to help the Cornell brand? We had a record number of applicants for this year's freshman class, and with the exception of the recruited football players, it's unlikely that most of them applied to Cornell because of our football program. I meet with approximately 15 Cornell applicants every yearby Iceberg - Other Sports

Union and Clarkson win again with the former's win helping a bit more since Northeastern was higher ranked in the pairwise.by Iceberg - Hockey
