Re: Red Hot Hockey "Presale" - 2 years ago
There have always been a ton of Michigan alumni in NYC and the school is fairly well-represented in the northeast corridor. It's probably the school with the most alumni outside of the state of New York as far as presence in the city.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey "Presale" - 2 years ago
Penn State alumni attendance would be huge if there were a game in Philadelphia. This city is saturated with their alumni and their hockey team's game against Princeton in 2018 at the arena drew well with at least 90% of the crowd (8490 purported attendance) being pro Penn State. I'm sure it would be more balanced if it were Cornell instead of Princeton.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey "Presale" - 2 years ago
On the Internet feed, they had the BU AD talking during the 1st intermission and he mentioned the possibility of doing a series at Lynah one year, Agganis the next year, and MSG the third year. I didn't hear the whole discussion to know if it was definitely going to happen, but it wouldn't be a bad idea as long as the home games were not the Thanksgiving weekend (maybe that first weekend of the sby Iceberg - Hockey

Re: Red Hot game thread and watch - 2 years ago
jtwcornell91 Am I the only one freaking out at all of the crowd shots with no one wearing masks and everyone's mouth open? I don't know MSG specifically but pretty much everywhere in NYC is asking for proof of vaccination and then allowing people to not wear masks in those places. Wouldn't be surprised of they just had vaccination status checked as a part of normal arena entry procedures.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others, 2021-22 - 2 years ago
Still a number of OOC games but I suspect the conference isn't sending more than 2 teams to the NCAA's this year and that might be generousby Iceberg - Hockey
"Proposed" future ECAC - 2 years ago
With LIU joining the D1 hockey ranks as an independent, one must wonder in which division the team will wind up. Its joining the ECAC could actually create some balance with the assumption that Penn fields a D1 team again within the next 10-15 years. If you look at potential travel partner alignments, it makes much sense. Colgate-Cornell Clarkson-St.Lawrence RPI-Union Dartmouth-Harvard Broby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey "Presale" - 2 years ago
CU2007 Interestingly it appears the game will be carried on ESPN+. I thought I had read that only games in ECAC arenas would be shown, which MSG obviously is not. Yeah, I'm surprised. Usually the MSG network has the game. But even in recent years, I'd just watch the BU feed which was typically free. No need to do that with ESPN+ showing it now, thoughby Iceberg - Hockey

Re: Opponents and Others, 2021-22 - 2 years ago
Well, in some odd scheduling, Sucks is hosting a conference game against Brown tonight. And throughout the week pretty much everyone else in the conference will have at least one OOC game (mostly against HEA teams). Would be nice if the conference came out with a positive record by the end of this week.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Yale Game Thread - 2 years ago
TrotskyPessimism or you know something? I just deduced it based on the remaining schedule and the fact that the team would basically have 3-4 weeks off after the North Country trip. May as well let him rest if it's something that's enough to prevent him from playing both games this weekend or even suiting up to be on the bench. And it seems like upprdeck's post supports my theory.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Yale Game Thread - 2 years ago
Dafatone The bad news is that McDonald gives up huge rebounds. The good news is that I don't think I've seen him let in a goal other than after a huge rebound. The third goal against at Dartmouth was ugly, but yes, he's been fine aside from the rebound control. He's also very active at handling the puck and keeping play moving. Not Mitch Gillam level puckhandling skills but more than fine enoby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Yale Game Thread - 2 years ago
Well, I think it's safe to say that Yale will finish solidly 12th in the conference this year because they just did not look good and I wonder if they'll even win a game. It's wild how far things have fallen for them since they were a fairly regular NCAA team up until 5 years ago. As far as Cornell is concerned, though, the guys will need to be a bit less sloppy with the passing against BU nexby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Brown Game Thread - 2 years ago
That was my first game at Lynah in ~7 years. It felt great to be in that atmosphere again and it was nice to see a more exciting brand of hockey than what I usually saw as a student there in the days of Iles and Ferlin. Definitely fewer chants from section A than I remember but I have a feeling the staff may have something to do with that. As for the game, I got there in time for the second haby Iceberg - Hockey

Re: Game thread - 2 years ago
dbilmes I feel sorry for RPI goalie. Why did they leave him in the entire game? Is their backup that bad? That was my thought. Marshall should've been pulled as early as the fluky 4th goal. His defense didn't do him any favors but he shouldn't have been in there after the 1st period.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth Game - 2 years ago
I'm not a fan of those alternate Dartmouth jerseys and much prefer their regular home whites, which are the best in the conference IMO. They did wear those alternates back in the last meeting at Thompson Arena IIRC.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth Game - 2 years ago
I thought they didn't play as well as last night all things considered. No question about which team is better but Dartmouth improved their pressure as the game went on and really made things hard at their own blue line. Errant passes and fanned shots were more glaring this game, even not factoring in the opposing forecheck. The overturned no-goal last night I could understand the logic of theby Iceberg - Hockey

Re: harvard game - 2 years ago
Speaking of attendance, it didn't seem as loud as it usually is at Lynah East. Maybe the broadcast muted the audio a bit but it almost appeared like any other road game as far as atmosphere.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: harvard game - 2 years ago
Yeah, that was a dubious overturn. The explanation of the color guy made sense but the question is whether it is supported by the rulebook. As for the game, it wasn't a bad performance. That blind pass that led to the 2nd Harvard goal was inexcusable, though. Howe played well enough to win the game and had a pretty good performance. I'll make a longer post later, but this kind of thing creates a very toxic environment in some ways. Remember the kind of people in the dorms that would whine if they even heard a pin drop? Take the behavior of those people and multiply it tenfoldby Iceberg - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Former Opponent News - 3 years ago
billhoward IcebergI'd be surprised if Penn fields any D1 teams there for now D1 teams de facto or de jure? De jure I think. Penn has club teams but in many ways the rink is a relic and from what I understand, the school isn't too gung ho about the place. That being said, between the Wharton MBA students, adult leagues, club teams and youth teams, there's no shortage of demand for the ice.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Former Opponent News - 4 years ago
Penn's rink is a lot nicer than it was before the renovations last summer. They redid the roof, repainted the inside and outside, and replaced the boards and refrigeration system. A lot of the money for those renovations came from the Snider foundation and Flyers alumni association. I'm glad they renovated the rink (it's the only full indoor rink anywhere near the heart of the city), but I'd be sby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: ECAC Early Departures - 4 years ago
Gaudet basically had that job for life but it was evident Dartmouth wasn't going to be even a divisional championship threat if he stuck around. I'm curious to see who the next coach will be, although I'm not so sure hockey is on the top of mind of the Dartmouth administration necessarily. I'm sure someone would jump at the opportunity to coach a program that has been around for a while though (eby Iceberg - Hockey
