Re: Cornell Hockey on TV - 12 years ago
Chris '03 ursusminor Robb Rita scoop85 cbuckser ursusminor FWIW, RPI-TV will be streaming the games from Atlantic City . Edit: The games won't be televised. That is good news, albeit a small consolation prize for the games not being televised. First time in my recollection that the games won't be televised somewhere. Rather pathetic. KeithK Doug Murray returned to the ice tonight after missing a number of games with a broken Adam's Apple (*cringe*). He had a pretty uneventful game from the box score and I only remember hearing his name once watching the third period. But it's good to see him back out there. The less his name is associated with the current streak of Sharks hockey the better....by French Rage - Hockey

css228 jtn27 css228 jtn27 css228 I really think the media wants Harvard to get in because it makes for a sexy story. Remember that Harvard was the favorite heading into the game in Ithaca despite being a clearly inferior team (evidenced by their 32 point loss). Anyone whod watched a basketball game involving both teams could have told you that Cornell team was the FAR superior team. There may noby French Rage - Other Sports

Beeeej Chris '03 Beeeej Chris '03 RichH Good ECAC trivia: Current teams to never win either title? Brown, Dartmouth, & Quinnipiac. Didn't Dartmouth win or share the regular season title recently? Yes, they shared it with Colgate in 2006, and had the #1 seed in the tournament, losing in the seminfinals to Harvard 10-1. It wasn't pretty. The next night wasn't so hot either...by French Rage - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Union 2 (final) - 12 years ago
css228 Best part of tonight is right after the goalie name spell chant a Union fan who somehow found his way into Section B turned to me and said that Grosenick was the best goalie in the league. Iles spent the rest of the night showing him up. The best part was following up Union's "why so quiet?" chant with a goal. Re: 2012 ECAC Playoff Permutations - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla billhoward Great stuff. Nice that theoretically 8 teams have a chance to finish in the top 4. For Brown, the handwriting's on the wall: best case, finishing tenth. Time to look to next year. Or transferring.Or pretend you're Colgate. I'd rather die!by French Rage - Hockey

Re: Cornell 4 St. Lawrence 3 (ot) - 12 years ago
KeithK If it's unfair to award an auto-bid after an unbalanced RS championship it's really only unfair to the other teams in that league who might have had a better chance to win if the playing field was level. But they agreed to play that schedule so thems the breaks. It only affects teams in other conferences tenuously (changing the rankings for at large bids). That would be true if every cby French Rage - Hockey

Aaron M. Griffin KeithK Aaron M. Griffin Union prioritizes winning the Jell-O Mold way too much. It defines the success of its program by competing for and winning it. I don't get it. I don't need a history lesson in response to that claim, I realize how general success is new to them, but winning the regular season doesn't advance one's season beyond where it was going inevitably, especially oncby French Rage - Hockey

Josh '99 RichH Scary headline, but the good phrase to read is "precautionary reasons," as spelled out in the article. Big hope it isn't anything to worry about. Re: Jersey Mockups - 12 years ago
Greg M I suppose I'll start out addressing the tradition point, because I think that's what has produced the most anger. Why would I have any attachment to the tradition behind the current jerseys? My affiliation with the Cornell is maybe six months long. It's not like I've spent 30 years watching the team, nor have I grown up seeing the same jerseys. Re: Jersey Mockups - 12 years ago
Greg M They're too bland for my taste, personally, and to be honest, the tradition doesn't really mean anything to me. As my friend said the other day...
