Re: Future Coaching? - 8 years ago
pfibiger toddlose Thought I saw kasdorf has one more year of eligibility? I may be wrong but swore I saw it somewhere. Unless I missed him signing. I believe he missed almost an entire year, so he's possibly coming back for a post-grad year with a medical redshirt. It's not a done deal though. At RPI's gathering at The Nines, Seth Appert's Hair said he's coming back for another year as a grby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Future Coaching? - 8 years ago
You seem to think coaches have some mystical powers here. They're not puppeteers. You can't make players do anything. You can just try to guide and steer them in the right direction. Ultimately, the worst thing a coach can do for a player is take away their ice time, which he certainly does routinely. Beyond that, you're going to have to go find a magic wand. Let me know if you do.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Future Coaching? - 8 years ago
Yeah, I'm sure you know exactly what was going on in the locker room with lat year's team. If you don't believe Schafer maybe you should ask a player.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Most Improved Player Poll - 8 years ago
Yeah, he should probably be there, though I think a lot of it has to do with his linemates.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Future Coaching? - 8 years ago
Long gone are the days when you only had to be better than a handful of teams in the ECAC to win the title. You can't expect to glide into Princeton and Union and steamroll them like you used to. There's impressive parity in the ECAC and college hockey as a whole. Dartmouth just swept an on-fire Yale. Remember what a big deal it was when an Atlantic Hockey team beat anyone from another conferenceby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Future Coaching? - 8 years ago
Yeah, but those random chances are the ones that tend to go in. I'll take a bunch of long, bad angle shots against that won't go in all day long.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Future Coaching? - 8 years ago
Shots are not a good metric. Most against have been bad angle or from far out. Quality chances are typically closer or often in Cornell's favor and matter a lot more than just shots.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: First round vs Union - 8 years ago
I've still got to finish scanning all the Lynah-era boxes and getting the data into db.elynah.com but I need to rewrite a lot of the code over there. It's still all planned to get done though.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: First round vs Union - 8 years ago
Here are the numbers (from ). 2010 is probably skewed since it's Harvard. Not including playoff tickets in student season tickets and making them optional for townies has always hurt playoff attendance. 2009 vs RPI 3813 3952 3812 2010 vs Harvard 4267* 4267* 2011 vs Quinnipiac 3978 4037 3813 2012 vs Dartmouth 3869 4267* *selloutby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Future Coaching? - 8 years ago
As far as "the system" goes, it's effectively keeping opponents' chances low and generating a lot of quality chances for Cornell. They're getting a lot of shots on goal, often in close. That's what Mike has influence over. The fact that there are only a couple guys who can effectively finish those chances is the problem. Mike can't score the goals for them (nor would he have been able tby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Season tickets - 8 years ago
KeithK BearLover What were the numbers in its heyday, out of curiosity? And when was its heyday? I'll go out on a limb and guess that the highest traffic numbers were March of 2003. Edit: Not sure if the metrics are the same, but from this thread the number of unique visits must have been on the order of 33k per month or 8k per week back in the 2002-03 season. Yeah, probably around that tby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Season tickets - 8 years ago
LGR14 The other thing that needs to happen (separate from the possibilities of new facilities) is for this website -- and most specifically, the Cheers page -- to increase its exposure. I don't think most students even know that ELynah exists. The cheers page hasn't been updated in a long time. And I think adding highlights and media to the proper places would show new fans how exciting Lynah canby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: game programs and 50/50 - 8 years ago
It's way more complicated than that. We're hoping to get things sorted out and have the 50/50 return this year, but the ball is currently in Cornell's court and we have to wait on them.by CowbellGuy - Hockey

Re: Which game worn jerseys do you have? - 8 years ago
This has nothing to do with Cornell, but here's one you won't find anywhere else. I collect Macon Whoopee stuff and this was a jersey worn by their mascot, Willee the Whooping Crane.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Which game worn jerseys do you have? - 8 years ago
Revised list. Forgot Topher (duh): Cornell game-worn: Chad Wilson Cam Abbott Chris Abbott Mark McRae Topher Scott Colin Greening Denis Ladouceur Riley Nash Shane Hynes Vinnie Auger The Dryden special third-jersey auction worn by whoever was wearing 1 at the time. Chabot maybe? I don't normally like getting my jerseys signed, but I happened to be wearing it one night when Ken was rby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Yikes! My PayPal notifications must be ending up in my spam filter and just noticed this. I'll be thanking you all individually but wanted to thank everyone here as well. It's greatly appreciated!by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Clint Lewis - 9 years ago
You're ok with having exactly the number of defensemen needed because Lewis screwed the team over? Poor Stoick had to go back to D last weekend with Anderson's suspension. Not really a comfortable situation.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: CHA Hospitality Room - 9 years ago
Sorry, it's not coming back. At least for now. Too many people, including nonmembers, treating it as an all-you-can-eat-and-drink buffet.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Red/White Game - 9 years ago
The season gets underway tonight with the Red/White scrimmage with the same format as last year with both the men's and women's team. Admission is free and there's a great raffle with lots of prizes. The game starts at 7:30 so come on by after Homecoming!by CowbellGuy - Hockey

BMac Beeeej, I haven't had that trouble with my MBP. I usually use airplay off my iphone or macmini with no problem, as you say. Have you tried with different wireless routers? I really saw a big improvement when I got a new multi-band device- in general, not just ILDN. Turns out between two laptops, phones, the apple TV, the desktop, the ipad and the kindle we were overloading our circa 20by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Should He Stay or Should He Go 2014 - 9 years ago
Towerroad Swampy Josh '99 ScrewBUHarvardtoo I've been wondering this question all season. Even if they lost that Game 3 to Clarkson he I'd say he should stay, but he needs to make some changes. I think the issue is now the ECAC is WAY more competitive now than it has ever been. This team is about as good as the one 2 years ago (and they made the regional finals in the NC$$), but the only differenby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Should He Stay or Should He Go 2014 - 9 years ago
BearLover Robb BearLover Rita KeithK BearLover Trotsky I don't see anybody in the current landscape who fits, and I see the job as Mike's until he decides to retire. He's about 50, so that's not going to be for a long time. His contract expires in 2016. At which time it will most likely be renewed. I think there is zero chance that he would be forced out if the team continues to have seasons liby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: LP Games - 10 years ago
redice So, the games are over, Union is 2014 ECAC Champs. Congrats to the Dutchmen! Now, I have to ask if anyone else found the title game on tv? We came home from errands expecting to catch the game in-progress on DirecTV's Ch. 623 ( where the semi's were carried).. All we found on 623 was a floating DirecTV logo. And the game was on no other channel. I wonder who is responsiblby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Share your game experience and Win a Cornell Hockey Jersey - 10 years ago
BearLover I would like to add to my responses that, although personally I found the tickets to be fairly priced, I do NOT consider the pricing to be anywhere near fair, considering every other college hockey team's ticket is less expensive. When was the last time you went to another rink? With only a few exceptions, other schools have caught up to Cornell's pricing.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Should He Stay or Should He Go 2014 - 10 years ago
Well, you can take Dryden off your already-short list. He hasn't ever shown any inclination to do anything for Cornell hockey since he left. Swampy Kyle Rose Tom Lentobut I think anyone even considering removing him as head coach needs to step back from the ledge. This is why even "maybe" isn't a good fit for my response.
