Re: University of Minnesota Duluth @ Cornell , 10/28/23 - 5 months ago
Trotsky Grady hypothesized that since he was not facing the play when he was struck by the puck it probably hit him somewhere unprotected by padding, for example, the back of the knee. Since he returned and was apparently unimpaired, it was apparently something intensely but fleetingly painful, and not injurious. Like an episode of "Seinfeld."by Beeeej - Hockey

Trotsky Kraft is fast and... crafty. He had 3 points and was a pest all night. He's 5-8 on the roster and that is *very* generous. Maybe in skates. Or as I like to say, "He's 5'8" soaking wet."by Beeeej - Hockey

RichH A reminder that the subscription rates for the Disney family (which includes ESPN+) are all increasing this Thursday, Oct. 12. Monthly increases from $9.99 to $10.99. If you subscribe today through Wednesday, you get the 2 exhibitions, UMD(2), @Yale, @Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard games at the lower rate. Save a buck. The annual rate increases from $99.99 to $109.99. sezenack BearLover ursusminor An RPI fan and his computer program's ECAC predictions. Cornell is #2, and Harvard is #7 below #4 Princeton. I appreciate that someone is trying to quantify these things rather than making prediction based on feel, but the fact this model ranks Harvard’s returning offense as 12th in the league evidences a clear flaw in its methodology, in my opinion. Re: Coaching carousel 2023 - 8 months ago
billhoward IIRC correctly, a still-emerging Q D1 team made the NCAAs ~20 years ago and in a 6-1 rout by Cornell, the Q goalie came almost to the blue line to misplay the puck, give it away, and led to the easiest Cornell NCAA goal ever. Yes, in the opening round in Worcester in 2002, the last year the field was 12 teams. The goalie pulled himself from the game after that, skating directly to thby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Winningest Ivy schools: Princeton, Harvard, Penn, Cornell - 1 year ago
billhoward And that is Princeton's advantage in recruiting students, athletes and name professors. $35.8 billion equates to $4.2 million per student for lower cost of attendance, nicer buildings and better athletic fields and arenas. If Princeton decided to allocate half the average annual gain to ease students' financial path through college, there'd be a theoretical $180,000 a year per student.by Beeeej - Other Sports

Re: Who deserves 2023 D1 championship - 1 year ago
ursusminor Just curious. What rules on age, etc. were Cornell and the other Ivies living with when Dick Bertrand was a player? I recall that he was about as old as the QU grad student players when he arrived at Cornell. If I recall correctly, one of the rules was about class year, not age - when Dick arrived at the age of 25, he wasn't allowed to play for varsity because he was a freshman. I doby Beeeej - Hockey

upprdeck pretty big jump from the bottom 5 ivys to Cornell/Yale.. I mean why is Harvard able to spend 600K less? I doubt it salaries? But if you add Scholie cost to the Ivy schools they jump to the top 25 most likely . Also How does ND spend 3-4x times as much. Is that arena that expensive to run or is it all travel cost and coaching? I'm not an accountant, but it's possible that spendby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: New athletic director Nicki Moore - 1 year ago
dbilmes Here's another challenge for Cornell's first woman to serve as athletic director. Cornell is supposedly a progressive institution with a $9.8 billion endowment. Why should any members of our D1 women’s varsity sports teams have to train and live in school athletic apparel made for men? {Insert biennial Beeeej commentary on how endowments actually work...and, scene.} Not that Corneby Beeeej - Other Sports

scoop85 ugarte sloppy game after the first period but it's really a result of how much more scared we were of them than they were of us. they didn't give us any room to breathe or set up and we needed to respond with patience and instead it became timidity. right now we don't have the speed or precision or confidence to make a team pay for putting on pressure from end to end and the reward is morby Beeeej - Hockey

jtwcornell91 So have they totally abandoned the West/Midwest/East/Northeast Regional names? Naming the regionals after the cities they're held in seems so basketball. I have a feeling it's because of the cities they awarded for 2025 - Allentown, Fargo, Toledo and Manchester.
