Al DeFlorio's invisible topic - 22 years ago
Okay, I see that there are two replies to Al's posting - but how are people even reading his posting, when there's no subject line on which to click? Help would be appreciated. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

I'm glad I read your second line before rushing down the page to write my reply. If I didn't have friends with HBO who are happy to have me over every Sunday night, I'd subscribe to HBO just for 6'U. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

If Gary wants us to "understand" what he understands, then he needs to learn to express himself better. And I'm not talking about grammar. I genuinely and with sincerity hope his midterms went better than that column! Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Speaking as a former Cornell Development Officer (read: fundraiser), I can assure you that a significant outlay of human and financial resources is involved in a $100 million campaign for anything at Cornell. I have many friends and former colleagues working hard for this campaign, and very few of them are actually on the Athletics Department budget line. But one thing you said is definitelyby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: The Big Sheet - 22 years ago
Sure; the Big Red will be able to flatten opposing players much more easily without risk of getting called for Boarding. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Biting Sun Article - 22 years ago
To the contrary; a well-publicized, $100-million fundraising campaign just for Athletics is a pretty sure sign that Cornell isn't the least bit interested in "marginalizing" athletics. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Biting Sun Article - 22 years ago
Cornell should not even slightly be focusing on the Frozen Four right now. That's a damn good way to lose an ECAC semifinal. And I'm not giving him a break because I don't think people whose opinions are so important to them that they put them in the newspaper should be given a break on so many ridiculous errors, both factual and grammatical. Re: Biting Sun Article - 22 years ago
The women's polo team has won the last two national championships, IIRC. Anyway, there are twelve teams in the ECAC. Yes, Cornell has a more significant "tradition of greatness." But winning the tournament twice in the last six years is pretty damned impressive with those odds, and winning it a third time in seven years will be freakin' amazing. But to say that anything less than aby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Schafer Strategy? - 22 years ago
Hey, gang, I know I'm probably running the risk of gaining a reputation as the Speeling & Grammer Police around here, but would it be too much to ask to show our incredibly talented coach enough respect to spell his name right? It's Schafer. Beeeej P.S. Yes, Josh. They were intentional.by Beeeej - Hockey

...and as usual, stunningly written and edited: Having been an elite team all season, we've heard that this was one of the best assemblage of skaters Cornell's has seen. I didn't know Gary was part of an elite team. its time we raise the bar Make no mistake about. no matter how "confident," a team this is one of the most history-rich program in college hockey following in the likby Beeeej - Hockey
Props from Yale coach - 22 years ago
This was at the end of the USCHO recap of Saturday's game: While no one is counting their chickens, should Cornell make the NCAAs, Taylor likes its chances to represent the ECAC well. "They're big and strong, and a well-coached, polished college hockey team," said Taylor. "If they get the right bounces ... it's a single-elimination tournament. Re: ECAC picks Grady - 22 years ago
The Vermont team from a few years ago was superb. They were probably the best pan-ECAC team I've ever heard, with lots of emphasis on out of town scores and stories. I heard they were replaced; no idea why. I heard it was because they were caught hazing their studio engineer. Is it Friday yet? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Sun article on CU Hockey History 3/12 - 22 years ago
and the team never again recorded over 10 wins in the Ivy League. How exactly are they supposed to do that when they only play ten Ivy games per season?! But in 1995, the athletic department introduced Mike Schafer '86 as head coach and the men in Red responded immediately, picking up two straight ECAC titles. The team recently won another ECAC title and is primed to make a run at the nationalby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: We're a damn good ... - 22 years ago
Yeah... the McRae brothers ate with us at the Afterglow and seemed both happy and confident. Among other things we talked a little bit about the COTY "controversy" and they agreed that nobody, including Schafer, seems to care about winning COTY as long as the team accomplishes what they set out to do. Getting More and More OFF-TOPIC: Re: Poll on Arthur - 22 years ago
A TV show's ratings depend heavily on capturing a significant portion of the audience from the show that airs before it. "Dharma and Greg"'s audience was not, demographically speaking, likely to be receptive to "SportsNight." Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
