Denver wins in 2 OT. Should be a 7 ET start for the Cornell/Maine gameby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 7 weeks ago
chimpfood On the CHN podcast today Adam said that he supports teams being able to host regionals in their own rinks but should only play there if they are a one or two seed. To me, this makes no sense to not just do home games for the first two rounds. Firstly, it shows that he has no issue with schools hosting NCAA games in their home rink and this system doesn’t eliminate home advantage, it jusby Iceberg - Hockey

upprdeck We didn't need to win the conf title to get in with PWR if we don't blow any one of about 6 other games, The horrid game at Princeton comes to mind. No doubt the PWR would've been higher without that lossby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 7 weeks ago
I find it crazy that the committee or whoever is responsible couldn't find another site in the midwestern US. There has to be a ton of better arenas willing to do this event at a tolerable cost.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 7 weeks ago
Whether Seger is healthy or not for Thursday will be huge as there's only one guy in the tournament who has won more faceoffs, and he's not in this regional. Maine has the very talented Nadeau brothers so the more possession Cornell has, the better. All things considered, this isn't the worst placement given what we've seen the committee do for certain other teams (e.g. BU)by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: ECAC Final - St. Lawrence?! - 7 weeks ago
The EU has adopted the name "Czechia" and that's what I've used to refer to the country for the past few years. I was in the country last year for almost a week but I can't remember what names the locals used. I almost think it was both but I can't remember. Either way, people should know that it's the same country being referenced.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: What happened to PWR this year? - 7 weeks ago
ER What if we had lost tonight? From what I've read there would've been no shot at an at-large as 14-16 would've been taken up by the AHA, CCHA, and SLU. And as far as next week, it seems that a re-match with Denver is inevitable, although in the western regional this timeby Iceberg - Hockey

I'm baffled why Cashman pulled Black with about 4:30 to go in regulation. I understand it's do-or-die but that was excessively early with a one-goal deficitby Iceberg - Hockey

cuhockey93 Terrible energy and sloppy turnovers so far. Really disappointing first period. Exactly my thoughts from what I've seen. The blown opportunities later in the period didn't help eitherby Iceberg - Hockey

SLU PP goal is good after the refs deemed that a clear as day spear was actually a slash that warranted 2 minutes and not 5by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 8 weeks ago
arugula I see he coached at SLU many many years ago. His son also currently plays for Colgate. He's had interest in the ECAC for quite some and during the 2012-2013 NHL lockout, he had been on color commentary for some NCAA games that were being broadcast nationally.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 2 months ago
newco113 You're joking right? You all do realize that the 2 biggest draws in Lake Placid always have been SLU and Clarkson? It's actually not even close. I read the comment the other day about the "90% Q and Cornell fans" and chuckled. It's only an hour and a half from Canton to Lake Placid and, every time we play there, roughly half of the attendees are SLU fans. So, just letting youby Iceberg - Hockey

adamw ACM adamw Just going to chime in with my usual old man two cents - but I agree with just about everything written here - especially Trotsky's request to bring back the striptease. What a loss. And when did the post-quarters flood the ice tradition end? Covid? That's a massive shame. When the high glass was installed, making it impossible to go on the ice by climbing over the glass. sah67 vemonkey At some point we are actually going to get a penalty for the period change over fish throwing, but the students don't think the refs will do it. I think the last time it happened was 2011 (when fish were tossed to “celebrate” our tying goal in the third period): We killed the fish throwing penalty, but Harvard got another PP right after and scored the GWG on that one.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 2 months ago
Some of these posts reminded me of why I only went to two of the games against Harvard as a student. They always seemed to attract some of the most obnoxious folks who never appear at any other games. The games against Dartmouth were always a bit more enjoyable, too, given you could expect some kind of chippiness in the play or a display of theatrics from Gaudet.by Iceberg - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 3-2 SLUt final. Colgate eliminated. Easily the most shocking result. I don't think anyone had Colgate getting sweptby Iceberg - Hockey

chimpfood Are we still expected to get a home series vs North Dakota next year? One must also wonder if the single game against BU from last season will be reciprocated at Lynah. I wouldn't be suprised if the Colgate game is the first weekend of December again. I can't recall that series being during a break in any recent times.by Iceberg - Hockey

I don't think chimpfood's post is totally without merit, although I won't comment on whether the drug story is true or not. I meant to post about this at some point and the mention of Howe jogged my memory. Within the past year, I met a recent alumnus who was on one of the other athletic teams on campus and was somewhat close with enough of the guys on the hockey team in the 2021-22 season. Trotsky Union up 3-0 on Brown in the third, so we either host SLU or, if RPI upsets Clarkson, Harvard. Apparently a Union student somehow went into the Brown bench and taunted the players for some time until security got to him. I imagine some would say that's not a surprising occurrence at that rink, but it's hilariously fitting that Brown was the team involved given how the game (and really tby Iceberg - Hockey

RPI looked overwhelmed in the last few minutes. Very fortunate to have the 3rd goal as a buffer because they were stuck in their zone at the end.by Iceberg - Hockey
