Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 18 days ago
Talk about deja vu: MSU down late, trying to get a goal and gets called for a somewhat suspect slash (although a bit more obvious than Walsh's penalty) with 2 minutes left.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 19 days ago
imafrshmn (not sure who it was) a giveaway at the blueline on our PP opportunity leading to the breakaway. Robertson: he flat out lost his balance and fell, unforced.by sah67 - Hockey

Castagna with another crazy dangle but couldn’t finish.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 19 days ago
Iceberg I'm guessing ESPN decided not to go with a broadcast team today? I just see the stream and nothing else on ESPN+ Same: just hearing the crowd noise here. Pretty embarrassing.by sah67 - Hockey

Jack Malone has the primary assists on BC's 2nd and 3rd goals. BC leading 3-1 almost halfway through the third.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Round 1 - Maine - 21 days ago
Great play by Stanley to take away the Maine scoring chance and create the rush going the other way to set up Mack's goal!by sah67 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Round 1 - Maine - 21 days ago
Gotta keep getting pucks in deep and working the cycle. Maine seems to have no answer for it when we get it going, and their D seem to struggle with puck retrieval. Praying to the hockey gods we keep our foot on the gas in the 3rd and don’t go into a shell trying to protect the 2-1 lead.by sah67 - Hockey

ugarte Fegaras my god... He definitely commits a lot more of those brutal turnovers than I would like.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 24 days ago
For those worried about how "small time" the ECACs in LP felt, here's what the St. Louis NCAA regional (Michigan, Michigan State, North Dakota and Western Michigan) site looks like: "The center features four rinks: a "feature" rink with 2,500 tip-up seats and a four-sided HD video scoreboard..."by sah67 - Hockey
Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 24 days ago
Dafatone but we struggle against the sorts of clutch and grab teams that we get accused of being. Definitely this. It's been the first season in a while where I really noticed us struggling badly against aggressive forechecks, and our players (especially our D) frequently getting muscled around in our zone and coughing up pucks due to the opponents' physical play. That used to be us!by sah67 - Hockey
Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 24 days ago
A few of the Maine posters on USCHO seem to be concerned about us being a bad stylistic matchup for them, but they're also resigned to the same tired old tropes about Cornell being a team of "big slow goons who can't skate and only clutch/grab/obstruct their way to 1-0 or 2-1 wins"(paraphrased). I'm not even convinced we have a discernible "style" this year: we've had diffeby sah67 - Hockey
Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 24 days ago
Anyone have more to share about Maine's strengths/weaknesses/style? I haven't seen them play this season and know only about the Nadeau brothers, who, while not twins, have nearly identical scoring stats (cute!)by sah67 - Hockey

VIEWfromK] Topher was in my section toward the end of the regular season. Maybe he was in town to start the discussion about an eventual transition. Topher posted an update last summer on his website, explaining that he left the Michigan gig to be able spend more time with his young family. He sounded pretty disillusioned with the grind of the hockey coaching world, and sure made it seem liby sah67 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Final - St. Lawrence?! - 26 days ago
ER I’ve never heard it called Czechia. It sounds too much like Chechnya Arthur says it (correctly) at every home game when Ondrej is in the starting lineup.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Final - St. Lawrence?! - 26 days ago
ER Does nobody know that Chechnya and Czech Republic are two different places? They’re trying to say “Czechia” which is the more modern name for the country previously known as the Czech Republic.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros 23-24 - 26 days ago
The Jets are getting blown out 6-1 by the Isles (halfway through the 3rd), but Barron is going for the Gordie Howe hat trick with an assist and a fight already under his belt. The "fight" wasn't much to to write home about, but the video is here:by sah67 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Semifinal - Dartmouth - 26 days ago
Postgame comments in the Sun: “ didn’t say much . We all kind of knew what we had to do,” Walsh said. “I don’t think we wore them down –– we got on a roll,” Schafer said. “As a coach, I’ve been on the other side. It’s tough when get on a roll.” “Our will to win never goes away,” Bancroft said. “We’re always positive, even if we’re down goals.”by sah67 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Semifinal - Dartmouth - 26 days ago
VIEWfromK Who was the most recent guy to forty points prior to Seger? Don’t feel like that happens much in these parts. Moulson in 04-05: 22G, 20A. We're lucky to have our leading scorer crack the low 30's in most years!by sah67 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Semifinal - Dartmouth - 27 days ago
cuhockey93 Losing puck battles, races, faceoffs, line changes... Kinda shocked. This is a crucial penalty kill. Don’t see us scoring 4 tonight. We’re not getting dominated, but a lot of the team looks, dare I say, uninterested?by sah67 - Hockey

Seger losing a bunch of the “key” faceoffs.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Semifinal - Dartmouth - 27 days ago
We’ve got three guys pinning the one Dartmouth forechecker, and yet he still comes away with the puck and creates the play that leads to their second goal.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 4 weeks ago
Iceberg I can tell you that ~15 years ago when I was a student, there was no such entry onto the ice after games and there was virtually no opportunity to interact with the players unless you were classmates, working with the team in a media capacity, or socially acquainted. During my undergrad days (a few years before yours), there was an annual “Skate with the Big Red” event where studentsby sah67 - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 4 weeks ago
BearLover But the question still remains—what’s wrong with Gary Glitter? The students have been dropping F-bombs during that song for 20 years. And the ushers have been tossing some of them out for that to “make an example” off and on over the last 20 years (although they do seem to have chilled out on the ejections during the last few years). Maybe it was an Andy Noel thing, and the new AD wby sah67 - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 4 weeks ago
BearLover They’ve also been chanting “Fuck you, Harvard!” for a long time now. What changed Friday night? What’s your definition of “long time”? It definitely wasn’t a “thing” 20 years ago when I was in the student section, and in my last 12 years of being a season-ticket holder on the townie side, I’ve only heard it become noticeable during the COVID era. BearLover Are we never allowed toby sah67 - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 4 weeks ago
BearLover Why does the ECAC Commissioner care if the band plays a song? Because the vast majority of the students chant "Fuck 'em up, fuck 'em up, Go CU!" during Gary Glitter instead of "Rough 'em up." Rumor has it the ECAC commish was already very displeased with the student section behavior during Game 1, and Schafer's reading of the riot act to the students over the PA dby sah67 - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 4 weeks ago
vemonkey At some point we are actually going to get a penalty for the period change over fish throwing, but the students don't think the refs will do it. I think the last time it happened was 2011 (when fish were tossed to “celebrate” our tying goal in the third period): We killed the fish throwing penalty, but Harvard got another PP right after and scored the GWG on that one.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 4 weeks ago
Trotsky The crowd is loud and engaged, which is tremendous, but they still have very little creativity. And now we get a third period fish thrown and a “Season’s over” chant with a full period to play.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 4 weeks ago
Trotsky.Jesus fuck, next they'll be singing Chelsea Dagger. Someone tried to start a “DE-FENSE” chant in one of the townie sections earlier in the season but it was promptly and mercifully quashed.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Saturday - 4 weeks ago
Schafer got on Arthur’s mic to tell the student section to knock it off with the endless “Fuck you ___insert Harvard player name___” chants.by sah67 - Hockey
