Re: ECAC Finals: Clarkson 3 Cornell 2 (OT) - 5 years ago
CU2007 BigRedHockeyFan Video of the goal, with a look at the possible offsides: It's a heartbreaking loss for @CUBigRedHockey in overtime. Here's the winning goal ... pic.twitter.com/WWQV3eo3YI— Cornell Video (@CornellVideo) March 24, 2019 Why was anyone saying they didn’t see the offside? That’s clearly offside. Wow I don't know why it took me so long to realize this was oby imafrshmn - Hockey

Yeah, I don’t see any offsides. Topher let his partisanship show with his immediate “should have been offsides” commentby imafrshmn - Hockey

Congratulations to your 2019 ECAC Hockey Champions, the Clarkson Golden Knights.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Women's FF - 5 years ago
Minnesota scores an empty netter to make it 2-0, and that’s our final score. Really good effort from the Big Red. We made it a defensive, grinding battle, but couldn’t find the puck luck we needed. A great season for Cornell and they’ll return a lot of strength next year.by imafrshmn - Hockey

Al DeFlorio marty Al DeFlorio Women emulate men and blow 3rd period lead, now 2-2. Hope this portends good for tonight. OT win. Hopin'. I hope so too. But for Pete’s sake, this thread is about the WOMEN’S team, last I checked. No respect.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Women's NCAA QF vs Norteastern - 5 years ago
And Cornell wins on a well poised breakaway goal by the freshman phenom Gillis Frechette!!! Cornell returns to the Frozen Four for the fourth time and their first since 2012!by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Women's NCAA QF vs Norteastern - 5 years ago
Now heading to overtime, it appears northeastern have all the momentum. We seemed to be the slower skaters in the third. Very fine margins in this one. Let’s go Red!by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Women's NCAA QF vs Norteastern - 5 years ago
Excellent first period against Northeastern! After 1, it's 2-0 including a late power play tally. Cornell really began to control possession in the offensive zone, work the forechecking game, and shut down Northeastern in transition. Keep it up Red!by imafrshmn - Hockey

Signs of life in late 2nd period with some good offensive zone possession now but Clarkson is collapsing in, blocking a lot of shots.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: 2019 ECAC F Women: #1 Cornell vs #2 Clarkson - 5 years ago
Down 2-0 not even halfway through the 2nd period and it doesn’t look good. Red legs look dead tired, decision making and execution are not sharp. Power play was unable to generate anything. This could really get away from us quickly if we’re not careful.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: 2019 ECAC F Women: #1 Cornell vs #2 Clarkson - 5 years ago
Weder The worst player on the ice is not better than Rebecca Johnston or any number of players from then. Trotsky Good start with Cornell getting the better of position early. Both teams are really talented and have strong playmaking and skating skills. The worst player on the ice is better than the best player from 10 years ago. Lol, yeah, Rebecca Johnston circa 2009 would be the best plaby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: 2019 ECAC F Women: #1 Cornell vs #2 Clarkson - 5 years ago
Both teams are well balanced front to back. Clarkson has the more talented scorers and playmakers, the championship mettle, the better goaltender, and they should have the fresher legs as this wears on (thanks to Cornell going to double OT yesterday). Cornell has the hunger to prove themselves and the home crowd behind them. Clarkson are decidedly the favorites in this matchup. Cornell needs theby imafrshmn - Hockey

RichH imafrshmn Sad fact of the day: a reported 585 people witnessed the historically long Princeton-Brown Game 2, which was fewer than attended 4 of the D-III women’s games and 2 of the D-III men’s games yesterday (NCAA round of 8). Only 484 attended the women’s Hockey East semi of Northeastern at Providence (the host). I guess Providence ain’t a hockey town. Also, Minnesota ain't a hockey staby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: 2019 ECAC SF Women: #1 Cornell vs #4 Princeton - 5 years ago
Boissonault (Cornell’s starting goalie) was not playing poorly, but the team was playing a little too desperately at the start of the 2nd, down 1-0. Princeton’s goal to go up 2-0 resulted from having too many Red players going forward and a turnover on an exit pass, leaving Boissonault a bit exposed. This was a really expert coaching move from Derraugh to get the team to settle down and not takeby imafrshmn - Hockey

Although neither camera angle is definitive, the video does prove it's offside when you piece together the two angles. But alas, referees are not expected or supposed to be doing this, right?by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: ECAC SF Women: #1 Cornell vs #4 Princeton - 5 years ago
The potential outcomes have narrowed down considerably given the stratification in the pairwise rankings, even before the result of Ohio State-Wisconsin tonight and the championships tomorrow: (assuming NCAA tournament seeding follows pairwise exactly, which it hasn't always in the past for seeds 5-8). Cornell loss to Clarkson: 6th seed at 3. Northeastern Cornell beats Clarkson: ---if B.Cby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: ECAC SF Women: #1 Cornell vs #4 Princeton - 5 years ago
Here is a pairwise calculator. Cornell can only get the 4th spot if they win the ECAC Championship Game (vs. either Colgate or Clarkson) AND win Hockey East.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: ECAC SF Women: #1 Cornell vs #4 Princeton - 5 years ago
Great game, great effort, and great goals in front of the biggest and loudest crowd of the season! On to ECAC Championship Game and NCAA tournament! Edit: reported attendance was just over 1100, but I don’t believe it. Looked and sounded like 1600+by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: ECAC SF Women: #1 Cornell vs #4 Princeton - 5 years ago
Quite a game so far. Cornell had the better of the 3rd period but left themselves exposed a few times when defensemen were caught pinching in the offensive zone. The season likely comes down to this overtime, as a loss might put them outside the NCAAs while a win should seal their tourney bid.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: [WIH] QF v RPI - 5 years ago
Trotsky Real shame we can't fill the rink for the women, for a playoff game. It would help them so much. Any of you ELFers in Ithaca better turn up today at 3 to support the women’s team. Attendance reported for Friday was ~1500 and Saturday was ~1200. Decent numbers but not enough. Women’s hockey has drawn 2000+ a few times for big games in the past. Brutal result. Certainly luck favored RPI today, but our playmaking wasn't especially well executed when it mattered most.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: [WIH] QF v RPI - 5 years ago
Game 2 is looking like a carbon copy of Game 1 through 2 periods. RPI up 1-0 despite being outshot 34-6. Some of the strangest Cornell hockey games I've ever seen.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: [WIH] QF v RPI - 5 years ago
scoop85 imafrshmn We've seen time and time again that in the women's collegiate game, a strong goalie can thwart a dominating performance by the other team.
