Meinig Fieldhouse will be next to the soccer field and will be big enough to hold lacrosse games, including room for spectators. Expected to open in 2026.by Weder - Other Sports

7-0 win over Syracuse tonight. Katie Chan and Avi Adam both had 2 goals, and Gabbie Rud had 4 assists. It's early, but it's looking like there's some good offensive depth on this team. Deanna Fraser got the shutout in goal.by Weder - Hockey

Al DeFlorio Weder Just noticed that Cornell appears to have added F Katie Chan from Colgate via the transfer portal. She had 8G and 9A in 40 games last season. Chan had first two goals in opening game. Happen to be in Ithaca this weekend so I stopped by the game. Really strong performance for the first game. Chan looked great on that top line.by Weder - Hockey

Local Motion All I am saying is from a Cornell football fan perspective and logistics with so many of our wonderful alumni living in the NYC metro area, we need to try something different. I have been attending the Cornell vs. Columbia game in NYC over the past few years (each of the every other year) and it's a fun game with a pretty good Cornell crowd. It really has the atmosphere of a homeby Weder - Other Sports

jtwcornell91 Has anybody without cable tried to watch Cornell football on ESPN+? I tried and it told me to go to espn.com/activate to log in with my cable provider. I think I was already logged in to my ESPN account on the Roku (I have the soon-to-be-expensive Disney+ bundle), since I was able to watch cricket highlights afterwards. Just a guess, but could it have been because last night’s gaby Weder - Other Sports

Jeff Hopkins '82 George64 Chris '03 Trotsky That is fucking awesome. After 40 years, Cornell appears to have gotten somebody to do their comms who is under the age of 87. Now please, murder #yellcornell in its sleep and bury it in a shallow grave in Mecklenburg. It feels so there's been a tone shift this year from athletics. First full year from Nicki Moore. Will be curious to see what elby Weder - Hockey

Local Motion Tough loss for Cornell, especially the collapse in the fourth quarter. Hey have you posters heard President Martha Pollack was once again absent during Homecoming? I was talking with one of the Cornell board members who said she was traveling out of town and a bunch of alums were upset. This is not the first time Martha Pollack has missed Homecoming or walked out after theby Weder - Other Sports

8-3 exhibition win against the University of Toronto today, with eight different goal-scorers. I had the game on but wasn't really paying close attention. The top line was Izzy Daniel, Lily Delianedis and Katie Chan, the transfer from Colgate. Annelies Bergmann was in goal the second half of the game and gave up one goal (on a bit of a defensive breakdown) on two shots. Highlights;by Weder - Hockey

ugarte Chris H82 I live in Big Sky Conference land (Montana), so I've heard of Sacramento State. They are a good team. And Stanford is not supposed to be a good team this year, so it's not much of an upset. It is still a huge upset! "Bad for the Pac-12" should still blow the doors off of Sac State. Speaking of the Big Sky, gotta love that Portland State has both an 81-7 loss (to Oregonby Weder - Other Sports

Trotsky No, what I mean is since when does a fair catch at the 4 come out to the 25? Also, that Contraception ad is great. I can't believe we finally learned how to do messaging after 40 years of utter incompetence. The fair catch rule has been in place for a while in college, and the NFL just adopted it this year. A fair catch anywhere inside the 25 on a kickoff is a touchback.by Weder - Other Sports
Re: Season Tickets (now with booze?) - 6 months ago
It looks like single-game tickets for home games go on sale at staggered times, starting with the Dartmouth-Harvard weekend at 10 a.m. Sept. 20. Note that if you want to buy at 10 a.m., you must buy a weekend package for $64. At 2 p.m. that day you can buy the games individually (Harvard for $37 and Dartmouth for $27), assuming any remain. The other home games go on sale the morning of Oct. 2, ifby Weder - Hockey

Swampy billhoward If any school has the money to support any and all athletic teams, it would be Stanford. Whether Koll stayed at Stanford or rejoined the Tar Heels, he's in the ACC. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, these Stanford sports go to the ACC: Football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, women’s lacrosse, wrestling, women’s gymnastics, cross country, golf, tennis, track &amby Weder - Other Sports

dag14 Were the coaches on the ice? Traditionally, both teams start skating a couple of times a week as soon as classes begin but without coaches. They used to be called "captain's practice" but that may have changed. I saw the team’s post on Instagram. The last photo appears to show coaches on the ice.by Weder - Hockey

Is it a quirk of the calendar that there are exhibitions in September or was there a change in Ivy rules? I saw that the team started practicing yesterday.by Weder - Hockey

mattj711 scoop85 Weder The official announcement of the Class of 2027 includes five players: D - Piper Grober D - Abby Thibodeau F - Beatrice Perron-Roy F - Karel Prefontaine G - Annelies Bergmann A few of the gals mentioned in the recent Hockey News article are not listed as part of this class. Redpucks1! Tomorrow is a big day on the college hockey recruiting calendar - 8/1 is the first day that '07 birth years can commit. (First day they could be contacted by schools was 1/1/23). I have no inside connection to Cornell Hockey, just a fan, but I'm really hoping they are in on these 3 players. In no particular order they are: 1. Cooper Dennis - Ithaca, NY!! scoop85 Today Scott Wheeler posted his top ranked NHL draft prospects just outside his top 100 list. Jonathan Castagna was the second player listed. Here's Wheeler's analysis: St. Andrew’s College, or SAC, has become a bit of a non-traditional factory, now regularly producing one to two prospects who garner NHL interest without playing major junior or even Jr. A. I actually prefer Castagna, whby Weder - Hockey

dag14 How do you people remember this stuff? I am not sure what I had for breakfast this morning. I covered that game as a student and the postgame interviews (not so much the fight itself) have always stuck in my brain. Burt’s version was that he declined an offer to fight and that prompted Shtrom to say something along the lines of “Well, let’s go then.” (Too lazy to look up the story but iby Weder - Hockey

Trotsky So, Hollwood uses Harvard and Princeton to indicate privilege and Yale and MIT to indicate intelligence. What are they conveying when they connect a character to Cornell? Is it "smart but relateable"? Smart but did not live up to their potential (or did not have the right connections).
