Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Corona Virus And Playoff Games - 4 years ago
jtwcornell91 Dafatone andyw2100 Lots of discussion about $6 refunds on $20 (or close to it) tickets. But let's look at the big numbers / big issues as they apply not only to Cornell but to all the schools that are canceling "in-person" classes and sending the students home. Will the schools be issuing partial tuition refunds? The students did not pay for "distance learning." Iby The Rancor - Hockey

all the fans should show up as the PU buses show up and yell from outside the building- into microphones running through the PA.by The Rancor - Hockey

Re: Corona Virus And Playoff Games - 4 years ago
Jim Hyla adamw I've already predicted the NCAAs will be played in front of no fans. Lake Placid - not as sure right now. But I would not be surprised one iota. Cases are doubling every couple days or so? With that rate, it would be in the millions by end of March. Cases are doubling partially because there are finally tests available for patients to be tested. Initially, if you couldn't be testby The Rancor - Hockey

Only Cornell fans can go 19-2-4 (and be a puck width from 24-1) in February, mostly healthy and feel the doom and gloom set in. Y'all need some sunshine and vitamin D! (says guy who escaped Ithaca to Florida/California) Sorry to tempt the Hockey Gods!!by The Rancor - Hockey
Re: Morgan Barron Article - 4 years ago
scoop85 The Rancor I can't wait for him to develop into a great player, and be traded for a bag of pucks to Columbus. SMH the Rangers waste so much homegrown talent. I see him at the NHL level as probably a third line forward who will chip in with some scoring and be a solid guy on the PK. I don't think he's NHL superstar material. I agree. I see him being a solid contributor, given the chanby The Rancor - Hockey

schoaff My freshman year roommate from back in '86 and I took my 11 year old son to his first Lynah games this weekend, our first time back in about 25 years. Had a lot of fun showing him the campus and telling him stories about all of our shenanigans as students. He got a kick out of them playing contemporary music and video game themes on the chimes. We ended up eating at a Korean place in Ctowby The Rancor - Hockey

JasonN95 The photo (credited to Dave Burbank) of Malott that accompanies CHN’s roundup article for last night is awesome. no mention in the USCHO roundup.by The Rancor - Hockey

Trotsky osorojoAn early and cranked-up crowd is a more positive influence than effete late-comers bent on number crunching. Pfft, why not just say "gay"? If there's one thing dumber than the stereotype of people with their eyes in a book it's that there are still a few morons who hold it. Go back to gym, Biff. Hear! Anne 85 I like the food at Maxie's Supper Club. Haven't been there for a while, so maybe this weekend! Sad to hear that the the building that currently houses Rulloff's is going to be torn down. Love the quirky architecture, but it's very dark and "worn." the Rulloff's bar is well over 150 years old. It was installed from an apothicarry shop when they opened the bar in 79ish... Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
I think it is fin to be somehow under the radar and the national #1. I do find it amusing that USCHO continues to ignore the existence of that fact. TMQB: Cornell... played a game this week? Now, on to any other team!by The Rancor - Hockey
Re: MSG: Red Hot Hockey NEWS - 4 years ago
ugarte Beeeej scoop85 The Rancor Playing a neutral at MSG against a team we will play a minimum of twice per season anyway, seems like lazy scheduling. I'd think the big Western schools, Big 10 and Hockey East would be clamoring for a chance to play in New York. Someone pointed out to me that the problem with the power 5 hockey schools is that they often have football games Thanksgiving weekendby The Rancor - Hockey

TimV Swampy ice I hope they spend a lot of time working on the PK in practice. Not a common weakness for a Cornell team. One would think. Except for the fact that players on the PK also play on the PP, practicing 5 v 4 skaters at one end of the ice seems an ideal way to address our two most important flaws. How do you practice defending a juicy rebound that lands on the tape of a guy in tby The Rancor - Hockey
Re: Las Vegas Roll Call - 4 years ago
ugarte Dafatone RichH French Rage Does anyone know if any version of the pep band is showing up? An alumni band had begun organizing when it was discovered that the tournament just assumed none of the schools would send their band and hired 4 local high schools to fill in. Not wanting to just elbow those high-schoolers out, an alumni band leader got in touch (through CU Athletics) with the VGK'by The Rancor - Hockey

adamw Jim Hyla In the USCHO TMQ column Jim Connelly states that he'll be in LV. So let's win and get the publicity, as well as PWR points. Always so biased Jim ... we'll have 3 CHN people in Vegas! They mentioned Cornell in this week' column, so they won't have to do it again until March.by The Rancor - Hockey

Jim Hyla Freshman Friday: Zach Tupker I've wondered how difficult it is for either of them, when one gets to play and the other sits. they seem to be mixing terminology in the article. are they or aren't they identical twins?by The Rancor - Hockey
