RichH Al DeFlorio Trotsky jtwcornell91 Trotsky billhoward To put a nicer spin on season-ending partners, in our lifetime there's a good chance a Penn-Princeton matchup would determine the Ivy title (or knock one into / out of contention) while a Cornell-Columbia matchup clarifies who's sixth, seventh or eighth. ugarte Scersk '97 Zero response to that guy all night. How do we not have our fastest defensive back “spying” him?Broke off another big run before throwing a dime for yet another TD. I decided that was enough before the PAT so it was 40-17 when I bailed. I very, very rarely bail on a game. This night is the exception that proves the rule.by Scersk '97 - Other Sports

Re: Season Tickets (now with booze?) - 7 months ago
RichH dbilmes RichH arugula upprdeck so if you went to that site you would have no idea which game is which night.. Funny that we make fun of Harvard for jacking up the tickets for the Cornell game when we are doing the same thing. Wrong. We expect a higher single-game ticket price for their Cornell game. Most league opponents have done that for years, knowing we actually show up and will payby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell football 2023 @ Lehigh 9/16 - 7 months ago
ugarte Chris H82 I live in Big Sky Conference land (Montana), so I've heard of Sacramento State. They are a good team. And Stanford is not supposed to be a good team this year, so it's not much of an upset. It is still a huge upset! "Bad for the Pac-12" should still blow the doors off of Sac State. Particularly "bad for this year's Pac-12," because the conference is otherwisby Scersk '97 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell football 2023 - 7 months ago
Oh, I know. I haven’t had confidence in this team on third down either since Joyce was playing. I was just opining on the utility of quick kicks.by Scersk '97 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2023 - 7 months ago
Chris '03 Scersk '97 ARE YOU READY FOR SOME PUNTING!!! This reminds me of the Tim Pendergast era. When the offense was on the field and facing third down, the sideline would yell "punt team!" Coaches included. Talk about having confidence in your offense.... Quick kick! No one ever sees it coming! Unironically, since punting is actually the second most important strategic eleby Scersk '97 - Other Sports

Re: St. Lawrence at Cornell 2023-02-18 - 8 months ago
Trotsky arugulaI like Ian a lot, but drives me crazy that we always have undersized goalies. Quick > big? Maybe? I dunno. Do big quick goalies go anywhere but CHL? I'd prefer quick and reasonable sized (read: Dominik Hasek), but I'll take big over quick with our defensive style.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

RatushnyFan Scersk '97 Just noticed Ryan St. Louis, Martin's son, transferred to Brown, after a sojourn back in the USHL this last year, from Northeastern. Watch out for Bruno next year! He's a good player, my son played with him a bit (dad was the coach, and super nice guy). But the numbers at Northeastern are what they are, I think he had every opportunity there. Wish him the best at Brown (otby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: 2023 Frozen Four - 1 year ago
RichH Not nearly as bad as their old community rink (or Starr) was, but I really dislike watching games there. Oh come now, those bleachers at Starr had character! And it made it easier for the little grunions to scream at us while throwing tennis balls.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: 2023 Frozen Four - 1 year ago
arugula Just heard Pecknold on Boomer and Gio. He came off great. Very likeable, reasonably, but not overly humble. Only complaint is it would've been nice if he talked up the league a bit. He never talks up the league. It's always about Quinnipiac and him. Which, whatever, but it's a major fault and probably a big part of the reason quite a few folks around the league don't seem to likeby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: 2023 Frozen Four - 1 year ago
jtwcornell91 Well, crap. Go Gophers! I liked what I saw out of the Goophs. Michigan was not impressive. They were bound to run into a team that could play defense at some point. Honestly, I think they were the weakest of the four.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Re: Opponents and Others, 2022-23 - 1 year ago
BearLover abmarks BearLover Teams across the country are announcing that seniors will be coming back for their graduate season. For example, Minnesota-Duluth just announced that three NHL draft pick seniors and key contributors will be returning for a fifth year. Meanwhile, a team like BC coming off of a disappointing season can recognize it is short a player on defense and pull a top fifth yearby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others, 2022-23 - 1 year ago
BearLover In my opinion, it is disgraceful that a totally random school no one has ever heard of with zero hockey tradition and zero academic standards went division 1 like 25 years ago and surpassed the Cornell hockey program. It was demoralizing when Yale and Union won, too. Whatever, dude.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Re: Opponents and Others, 2022-23 - 1 year ago
BearLover Quinnipiac has now made the frozen four three times since the last time Cornell did. What a disgrace. And between 1980 and 2003, Harvard made it five times and won a championship. And between 2003 and now, Union made it twice, and Harvard and Yale made it once each, and Yale and Union won championships. And there was a once a stretch in which the ECAC very rarely had more than two teaby Scersk '97 - Hockey

BearLover Scersk '97 So next year's Harvard-Cornell games are going to be our high-powered offense, with our drafted and likely to be drafted group coming in, against their shut-down defense. Wild. Harvard will be less talented next year. But in terms of drafted forwards, they’ll still be crushing us. With Stienburg and Malone graduating, the only drafted forward on next year’s team may be freshmby Scersk '97 - Hockey

RichH TimV Interesting that in hoops, no B1G got to the Elite Eight and only one got to the Sweet Sixteen. Too bad Princeton wasn't just a little better shooting. I don’t find that interesting at all, and unrelated. Aren’t there hundreds of teams in that other tournament by now? Re: 2023 NCAA Tournament: Regionals - 1 year ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 BearLover Quinnipiac is well on its way to beating Merrimack, leading 3-0 with under eight minutes remaining. Even worse, they’ve looked dominant every time I’ve looked up to watch. Really have to hope Ohio State can take them out next round. What was horrible was just listening to the ESPN announcers talking about an "all Big Ten" Frozen Four. This is just, wow: Alaska coach Erik Largen "It's weird just watching all the games. Obviously you're watching the probabilities, and you're dropping every week. upprdeck it was a long time until anyone who didnt win a conf could go to the NCAA.. many years the 4-5th best team in the countr stayed home How hockey should be, as far as I'm concerned. Regular-season "champions," champions, and the top independent. Seed based on KRACH, with byes until you get to balanced quarters or semis. Best 2 out of 3 at the higher seed until the Frozen Four.by Scersk '97 - Other Sports
