Re: ECAC Semifinal - Dartmouth - 28 days ago
Loved the moment deep in the third where our guys pinned it against the wall in the Dartmouth end for a good 45 seconds. Old time hockey.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Denver has to win. Michigan has to lose.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Denver wins, so still a shot at a #3 seed.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Best game I’ve seen from Psenicka all year.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 29 days ago
Iceberg SLU PP goal is good after the refs deemed that a clear as day spear was actually a slash that warranted 2 minutes and not 5 Spearing in a semifinal. How QU. Brilliant.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 4 weeks ago
I, for one, would welcome a field of SLU, Clarkson, RPI, and us. Much prefer SLU and RPI to Harvard. Would be rockin’. Considering how bad RPI has been, I start to wonder when it will ever happen again.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 4 weeks ago
Trotsky My order of precedence: 0. Cornell 1. Clarkson 2. Harvard (I know, sue me) 3. St. Lawrence 4. RPI 5. Dartmouth 5. Princeton 5. Yale 5. Colgate 5. Brown 10. Union 11. Quinnipiac I mostly agree, but I hate seeing Princeton, as they have this weird tendency to win in their rare appearances.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 4 weeks ago
French Rage Beeeej Incidentally, this particular combination of four teams has never before been in the ECAC semis, Lake Placid or not. Q’s history in the conference may be relatively brief, but it’s also already twenty years. I was going to say that Dartmouth's fault for making it less frequently, but the most common 3-of-4 for this 4 appears to be DC/QU/SLU in 2007 and 2016, so it's on us.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Harvard @ Cornell Friday - 4 weeks ago
Just watched a little bit of the end. Shane was slashing the crap out of Karpa to move him out of the crease, yet Karpa kept backing into him. Hence, the gloves and shoves at the end. (Would be nice if refs would call a crease violation here or there. I remember those being called more often once upon a time. But I suppose it doesn't involve contact to the head, which is the only thing anybody caby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: 2024 Awards - 4 weeks ago
Trotsky I can't remember too many times when the All-ECAC and All-Rookie teams contained nobody from Harvard or Clarkson. This, this, this. Usually a Crimson-fest, because they're all undeniable blue chippahs. And, on a more detailed note, how does Union keep picking up these solitary fantastic blueliners? Prokop is nuts and reminds me so much of Gostisbehere.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

dbilmes First time Princeton was shut out all year. Harvard goalie played great. They otherwise looked sluggish.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Iceberg ugarte i never hated huggy bear Yeah, I don't see the hate for that logo either. It's very distinct It reeked “just like every other mid-2000s cartoon logo”… for 20 years!by Scersk '97 - Other Sports

RichH I’d just like to point out that our common fandom relies on two sites that were designed more or less when html frames (and Jason Elliott) were pretty great. It’s a bit endearing at this point. I can think of another site that is a similarly endearing time capsule of Internet 1.0… Indeed, someone (never me) should create a Webring of such sites. Also, I dearly miss collegehockeyby Scersk '97 - Hockey

VIEWfromK sah67 VIEWfromK I’m guessing that Bancroft learned a pretty important lesson today. Luckily all that it cost them was a shutout. I saw him storm off down the tunnel after the RPI goal…I thought it was an injury situation, but I’m guessing he was the one responsible for the giveaway that led to the goal? Yes, he tried to elevate a pass out in front instead of putting the puck in theby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: ECAC 2024 Discussion Thread - 6 weeks ago
Trotsky I believe Brown beat Harvard in the shoot out, 2-0 in 3 rounds. Yes, BRUNO ESCAPES THE CELLAR!by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: ECAC 2024 Discussion Thread - 6 weeks ago
Princeton over Yale and RPI over Brown, both by head-to-head. We get SLU if chalk prevails.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Women 2023-24 - 6 weeks ago
RichH 5-0 with an ENG, 2 minutes now to run off. And Grady still mispronouncing Quinnipiac. Quinni-PEEEEE-ac.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Women 2023-24 - 6 weeks ago
Trotsky George64 I don’t recall ever seeing a game where one team had five penalties and the opponent none.We might have gotten the last 5 of the game at Potsdam to end 1995. That was horrible. "Allright! Everybody in the box!" I remember the end of that game. Both games were pretty much the same.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Same. That bye week can’t come soon enough. Team looks exhausted sometimes.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell v Union - 7 weeks ago
One of those games. Maybe it’s louder in the rink, but the crowd sounds like they’re in church late in games, up or down. It’s… disappointing. In church, but lacking in faith.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ St. Lawrence, 2/24 - 7 weeks ago
ugarte Not trying to say they aren't homers but I also don't think they were counting their chickens so much as being proud of the team for such a good game overall. New phone, who dis?by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Give My Regards I'm sorry, but -- what the hell is Dartmouth doing in fourth place??Drinking, presumably. Keeping it warm for Clarkson? Dartmouth actually wins the two-way tiebreaker against Clarkson.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 7 weeks ago
BearLover Again, the logical extension of Trotsky’s argument is to not care about the regular season, not care about out of conference games, and put the entire season’s weight on 2-5 games in March. Last night’s game was irrelevant in Trotsky’s view, I guess. Which is nice for him, because if he actually cared about Cornell hockey having national success, last night was about as crushing a serieby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Clarkson, 2/23 - 7 weeks ago
RichH As the game wore on, and we kept playing poorly, I could see this ending, because it's happened before. We weren’t even facing the most dangerous lead in hockey, which is 4-0, of course. We are not good at shutdown hockey this year. I’m going to chalk that up to having a bunch of freshmen. The struggles on the PK are in the same alley but are slightly more mystifying, because I haveby Scersk '97 - Hockey

Ah, February break, I see. Still, their Townie attendance has gone the way of the dodo.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Clarkson, 2/23 - 7 weeks ago
RichH I hate that building. It makes me mad because Cheel is such an un-intimidating and sterile place to play, but we keep getting snakebit in the last minute there. Even less intimidating when their fans don’t show up. That crowd was shockingly bad.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 8 weeks ago
ugarte Scersk '97 If I remember correctly, Bearlover hates it when the ECAC is full of strong teams. He’s never been part of the “rising tide” faction. But, as you rightly identify, that small margin for error is what we get.i take no position on whether the rising tide is good or bad for us. i have no idea. what i know is that right now we're at low tide and at risk of running aground.
