Re: Odds of winning 2024 NCAAs - 6 weeks ago
Q's loss stung (like a deer tick?). They dropped from 7 to 9 and we lost bonus points. Gives me mixed feelings. I want the bastards to lose simply because they're assholes, but their winning helps us if they can move up in the PWR. What to do? What to do?by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Yet another collegetown bar bites the dust - 8 weeks ago
ugarte Cop at Lynah The Collegetown bar scene came under siege of the ABC board in the late 90's and continued through the early 2000's At that time Avarmis owned the most frequented bars in college town and his establishments were targeted for enforcement on many occasions by the ABC Board. I was part of those enforcement activities and the fines that the ABC Board doled out made it almost imposby Jeff Hopkins '82 - John Spencer Is Dead

George64 George64 Trotsky George64 Every place north of The Bronx is Upstate. This is the correct answer. New York in tres partes divisa est: The Island, The City, and Upstate. I hit the NY trifecta - born in The City (well, Queens), grew up on The Island (Roslyn), went to Cornell, and retired to Upstate (Rochester). George64 billhoward What a depressing finish, to wit being outshot in regulation and still be one lucky shot away from a 3-2 regulation win, then getting out-possessioned in the 3x3 OT then losing the shootout without getting even one goal. The 3 on 3 OT needs to go! It’s an aberration! I don’t recall ever seeing a 3 on 3 in the course of a hockey game. Puck possession becomes the key. Worby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

RichH adamw RichH upprdeck if go on any kind of a run we get our RPI above .5600 and we move up 3-5 spots.. Are we good enough to do that. Like unbeaten in their last 7? That kind of run? Some of us need to chill out about the PWR situation in January and enjoy the rest of the regular season. We’ve barely begun the 2nd half of the league slate. Things are typically still fluid into March. Shby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

I was just looking at the stats: we have 2 shorthanded goals...and only took one penalty! Yeah, Dartmouth is bad, Edit: And now 12-0.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

billhoward Wow! I thought I was good at thread-drift. There is competition and that improves the breed. Thank you for keeping me on my toes. The high-end clothes if they can't or shouldn't be burned, could be shredded. They aren't produced in quantities like Zara. They aren't quirks that were done up in advance for the team that wound up losing the Super Bowl. So it's manageable. But if you sby Jeff Hopkins '82 - John Spencer Is Dead

Trotsky George64 Trotsky I love him. I will grant someone needs to take him aside and explain nobody gives a shit about the Binghamton Rangers. The Binghamton Rangers ceased to exist after 1997. When Grady was there, they were the Binghamton Senators. Now they’re gone, too.Sorry. Someone needs to take him aside and explain nobody gives a shit about the Binghamton Senators. Trotsky upprdeck Trotsky At some point we will have five freshmen on the ice at the same time. The last time I can remember that happening was around 1991 in Troy, and they scored on us in about 8 seconds. I think the coaches said at one pt vs Mass? we had 5 on and they had 4 5th yr guys on the ice.LOL. Wow. I'm not sure how we'd have 3 freshman forwards out there at once -- must have beeby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

VIEWfromK I hope to hear the dull thud of that Bancroft goal over and over in my dreams tonight The guys were so pumped to win that one. It was great to see the synchronized bouncing in the celebration and also the way they raced up the tunnel after the salute. That was such a weird game. Under ten shots on goal into the third. A short handed goal against. A penalty shot goal. So many stopsby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

The townie side was pretty full. But my impression is that they were sitting on their hands. They didn't cheer much at all. Section E was pretty much empty. The band also showed up late and really didn't seem to have their shit together. There were lots of breaks in the action when they weren't playing. Castagna's second goal was a thing of beauty. I was at the top of section G right aboby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: World Junior Championships - 3 months ago
Trotsky Mosko logs 17 minutes on 28 shifts and is +1 as Slovakia beats the snot outta Norway and goes to 3-0, leading Group B. Next up is the New Year's Eve game with the US (2-0 pending outcome against the Czechs) which could well decide first in the group. US beat CZE in OT, so SVK leads the group, 9 pts to 8. Sunday's game will decide the group.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Trotsky I will come to a time in my backwards trip when November eleventh, accidentally my birthday, was a sacred day called Armistice Day. When I was a boy, and when Dwayne Hoover was a boy, all the people of all the nations which had fought in the First World War were silent during the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour of Armistice Day, which was the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Re: Cornell Hockey Jerseys? - 4 months ago
George64 I pity the players that had to wear these jerseys during their Cornell careers. As I recall, they were designed by a Hum Ec class. The instructor should have been fired. For those too young to know, or too old to remember - that’s Bob Murray ‘74 and David Groulx ‘76. Oops, Bill Murray ‘74.
