Tickets in Minneapolis - 19 years ago
In case anyone is curious, I just called the Minnesota ticket office and there are no more tickets available to the general public through them. If we get stuck in Minneapolis, our only option is from the allotment sent to the schools. The person I spoke to did not know how many seats that was, but if the posts on NCAA squeakball are any indication, it ain't many.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Good point. OK, 9-8 double OT works for me.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Quest for #1 seed - 19 years ago
Possible. I guess it depends on the Committee's priorities, and how much flexibility they take in interpreting "absolute" rules. Gotta admit I'd love to see it.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: SUCKS or Toothpaste - 19 years ago
No way. I don't want either of them thinking they can score, and I don't want anybody from either team, especially Sucks, going into any kind of statistical record books. 4-3 in double OT. The GAA is high enough to hurt both goalies' GAAs, but no teams go in the record books except possibly for futility.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Harvard is the evil empire who denied your favorite (female) cousin tenure in the business school while promoting several less qualified males and then had a convenient fire in the records department just before the suit was due to come to trial. Roy Ives...now we're talkin'. I'd love to hear it, too. Since I was at the game, I never heard the broadcast. Here's another piece of trivia from that game: The quote of the day in the Sun the morning after the game was "We got it! We got it!" attributed to a Providence player as Randy Wilson skated down on the empty net.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

I also found that if Denver loses twice, and Michigan loses once, we can still get a 1 seed if we lose the final. If Denver loses twice and Michigan wins out, we're #5 in the PWR, but Minny isn't #4, so we stay east. Die Pioneers!by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Albany ticket suggestions - 19 years ago
Actually it's mix and match. Some sections stand, some sit. Depends on the ratio of students to townies/parents. The closer your seat is to the band, the more likely you'll stand. At least that's the way it was at LP in the past.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Quest for #1 seed - 19 years ago
What I've found so far is we need to root against Denver. The scenarios where we win out and still have to go to Minnesota all involve Denver wining the CCHA. For example, both of these send us to Minnesota: - Denver and BC both win out - Denver wins out, CC wins one of two, and Maine wins HEA Both of these will make us a one seed - Denver wins out and CC loses 2 games - Denver wins ouby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Albany ticket suggestions - 19 years ago
I remember two years ago, they did not sell seats in the upper deck at the ends of the rink. They just hung up black curtains to hide the empty seats. That could be why they only have a few sections left.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Who we should be rooting for Sunday, 03/13 - 19 years ago
Try this: If Dartmouth and Colgate wind up 13 & 14 like they are now, and we're a #1 seed, we get Bemidji or Quinnipiac. That's why we want more ECAC at large bids.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

I think there are plenty of overly certain tools on USCHO most of the time. Why is 8 hours from now all that different? JHby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology Sunday - 19 years ago
Actually, Minnesota has two losses and a tie against UAA. If UAA wins tonight, they probably stay a TUC, and that's a hit to Minny which could help us flip them.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology Sunday - 19 years ago
Ari: I havent done all the math, but my general impression is if we don't win out, one of the four teams ahead of us will have to lose TWO games in their tourney for us to get a one seed, and I'm not sure it even happens then, cause Michigan might sneak in. The most likely to do that, IMO, are Minny or BC.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Clarkson postgame thread (no scores updates) - 19 years ago
Usually our defense blocks most everything and then clears the blocked shots away. Last night, they weren't getting the job done clearing the puck from in front and getting it out of the zone. Clarkson's strategy in the latter periods was to just throw it on net, even from some difficult angles. They knew with the way our defense was playing, they'd have second chances. Re: Albany ticket suggestions - 19 years ago
I went to the Pepsi Center website, which forwarded me to Ticketshafter. I asked for a Lower Level Seat and that's what I got. Really, all you need is a way in the door. Two years ago I had an upper deck seat, but sat in the lower bowl for all the games.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
