Re: Men's Lax Syracuse at Cornell 4/2/2024 - 24 days ago
Make or break game for Cornell. It feels as if we're on the cusp of not making the NCAA tournament if we don't win the Ivy League tournament. And that will be harder with the loss to Penn and the possibility we don't host the tournament. We need Yale and Princeton to step up and knock Penn around. Meanwhile, let's go, Red. And Penn has a tough final three games: at Yale, vs. Harvard, at Princby billhoward - Other Sports

The smaller cities and smaller arenas may be hungrier for the NCAA's business. Springfield MA is an 8,000-seat arena and Midwest regional site Centene Community Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri , I believe the largest of their four rinks is 3,500 (one is outdoors, covered). Syracuse, Binghamton and Glens Falls and have 4,000+ and could bid for NCAA hockey regionals. Or Lake Placid.by billhoward - Hockey

Seating chart of the Springfield Civic Center / MassMutual Center, below. Cornell will be the visiting team against Maine. Cornell attacks twice: Behind the goal: Sections 1-5, 28-31 Out to blue line: 2-7, 26-27. Center ice is: 8-10, 23-25 IIRC there is an upper and lower level and you can go between them. It is not an upper / lower bowl. Hockey seating capacity is 6,800. Main Street, Spby billhoward - Hockey

a) Fiber is 300 yards away but not getting closer. Our unprovisioned part of the road has our camp with a half dozen buildings and families, one other camp, and about 150 people. Unfortunately 125 of them are veterans of the Revolutionary War and not voting any more. I believe. Let's see how long #13 Yale holds on versus #4 Auburn, Friday, 4:15 pm. Consider this understatement insight: Fox61 TV Yale Men’s Basketball travels to Spokane to face the No. 4 seed Auburn in the Round of 64 Down six with 22 seconds left, Yale beat the odds and the buzzer against Brown to win the Ivy League, but the Bulldogs face steeper competition against Auburn.by billhoward - Other Sports

Sorry, I switched to an LG Gram (<3 pounds, 17-inch screen) and as part of the weight-reduction project, they removed the irony font. My bad. I was thinking of the little guy getting the same information as the big guy. Like how Toyota shared most all its factory production data with suppliers so they could make parts ever better. adamw billhoward Correct, the ECAC site box score has it as 3839, or 49.9% full in a 7700-seat arena, for Colgate's 3-2 win over Harvard a year ago in Placid. I never know if the site publishes tickets sold for the game or people who actually come in. I don't know any venue on the planet anymore that counts people who come in. It's always tickets sold. Here's what to do in Lake Placid this weekend with Cornell in the ECACs. Before you go: Bring a pair of snow brushes and extra windshield washer fluid. Will not reach 30 all weekend. Snowy Saturday, 5"-8", Lake Placid can handle it no problem. For visitors, Lake Placid is effectively one street wide, a half mile long: Main Street, the greenish line. (the map points north.) I got tickets in the Quinnipiac section, section 24, kittycorner across from the Cornell section (11), because it has the most seats up high, it is the end Cornell attacks period 1 and 3, and in part because I love the irony of a school's broadcast journalism school being named (in part) to honor Ed McMahon (think Jimmy Kimmel's Guillermo). St. Lawrence definitely helps attendance in Lake Placid. Clarkson a bit more. Clarkson 3700 students St. Lawrence 2200 students The best possible ECAC-in-Placid turnout would be Cornell, Clarkson, St. Lawrence and, um, pick one, maybe RPI. It is about 80 miles from Clarkson (+5 for St Lawrence) to Lake Placid but it is dark (well, yeah), twisty road that is not well-striped. Read: Iby billhoward - Hockey

We don't lose many lacrosse games when during the game we score seven unanswered. I don't know of any games we allowed 10 unanswered goals and had a whiff of winning. Until today. Jeez, the Princeton crew at 1.8 left on the scoreboard, they looked like orphans who missed the party boat. Hey, there's always Wall Street to make you feel better, lads.by billhoward - Other Sports

Sad news for Andy Noel-haters. He's baaaack! (As a fan.) I shook his hand walking out of the Princeton lacrosse game and wished him well. Remember, it was Him who hired Connor Buczek. And Brian Earl. And etcetera. The Cornell coaching staff is his doing, outside of Mike Schafer. And it was his doing to let the new AD hire the football coach, rather than stick it on Nicki Moore. ugarte Trotsky SLU and Dartmouth have advanced.LFGR! i never remember if ecac reseeds for LP. Pretty sure high plays low, and the two middles (Cornell, Dartmouth) play. I'm also pretty certain the top seed used to get its pick or early or late game, always chose early, so the high remaining seed gets assigned the 4 pm Friday game. NCAA bracket has Cornell in the Colgate-hosted regional Thursday 3/14 7pm EDT against Stonehill. Colgate as the 3-seed gets a first-round bye (as do #1 Ohio State and #2 Wisconsin, but not #4 Clarkson or #5 Minnesota). If Cornell advances, Colgate is a tough opponent Saturday, March 16, 3 pm. But the bottom bracket does not have #1 seed Ohio State. That is the tournament's toughest opponent.by billhoward - Hockey
