Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell uniforms - 20 years ago
The Sports Bar at the TECO Arena in Florida I think was the official - and unofficial - hangout for Notre Dame fans, it being only two-something months before St. Patrick's Day and they needed to practice for the big day in case they'd forgotten how to hoist a beer mug.by billhoward - Hockey
Re: playoffs - 20 years ago
At large bid for Cornell if it doesn't win the ECAC? Cornell lost too many shoulda-beat-the-bottom-feeders games to get at-large sympathy from the NCAA. Of course, most were early in the sesason. Had it won the last eight in a row going into the playoffs that would have turned heads, for it meant Cornell hadn't lost since January. The 3-0 Union loss broke the streak and said, "Even now, onceby billhoward - Hockey
Cornell uniforms - 20 years ago
Went down to the Everblades Classic. It was like going to Boston for a tournament but a) it was warmer and b) it's nicer crashing at your in-laws' condo that the on floor of some high school friend's MIT frat house. One thing that seems to be a Cornell constant over the decades: They wear the same well-worn pants. They're ripped, they're stitched with coarse black thread, there are gashes on thby billhoward - Hockey
Re: Dave McKee vs. Yann Danis - 20 years ago
McKee would have done better in the ROTY / All ECAC standings if he'd traded six of his one-goal games for three shutouts and three two-goal games. I haven't done the lookup, but who has the most shutouts plus one-goal games this year?by billhoward - Hockey
Re: playoffs - 20 years ago
Indeed, there are a bunch of lowly ranked teams that gave Cornell a scare -- heck, beat Cornell -- during the season. But turn the pairings around: Which of the top four ECAC teams do you think the survivors of the bottom eight would least like to play? The champion Colgate? Lost 4 of the last 5 or something like that Brown? Or runner-up Cornell? You skate into Lynah, recent history seems toby billhoward - Hockey

Re: Panoramic Photos of a Full Lynah? - 20 years ago
Your choices: Get a single shot with an ultrawideangle 35mm camera lens say down around 12mm. It will be a lot but not the whole arena. Stitch a couple digital or film photos together electroncially. If you had a film camera and motor drive you could do it so quickly the player movement on ice would be minimimized. Try for the anthem when nobody's moving. I have the Panasonic DVD RAM recorder without the hard disk. Spend the extra bucks and get the one with the hard disk. It's vastly more versatile.by billhoward - Hockey

Re: Pager update on Cornell scores? - 20 years ago
Well, if anyone feels hospitable, I'd love to get an end of period update at billhoward@vtext.com - just an email to that address with the score in the subject line. Thanks.by billhoward - Hockey
Pager update on Cornell scores? - 20 years ago
Does Cornell have an end-of-period pager notification of scores? I have to attend a friend's 40th birthday instead of listening in on Clarkson and unfortunately the place doesn't have Web access.by billhoward - Hockey
