Dartmouth has put only 7 of 25 shots on goal, thankfully. Cornell 10 of 13.by Al DeFlorio - Other Sports

I really dislike this tactic of killing the last minute of a period to get the last shot. It too often turns out to be rushed or results in a turnover, as just happened. Play your offense. If a good shot materializes, take it.by Al DeFlorio - Other Sports

billhoward Oscar Wilde The unspeakable in pursuit of the uneatable. Unbeaten BU plays at Harvard tonight 7 pm. Sort of a one-game Beanpot of Lax with BC and Northeastern doing not much with Canada's other sport. Cantabs 5-4 at the half. Now 12-9 Harvard; OSU 12, Dartmouth 6 in the 4thby Al DeFlorio - Other Sports
Re: March Madness 2022 - 3 months ago
upprdeck they tried that years ago with shots or possession and it turned into a foul fest. if teams keep taking it out they will eventually turn it over as the refs wont call a million fouls ie what happened in the baylor/UNC game sat.. better option would be if you commit fouls in the backcourt you get 2 and the ball no matter if its 1-1 that would force teams to play D and once you get toby Al DeFlorio - Other Sports
Re: March Madness 2022 - 3 months ago
billhoward Al DeFlorio Just give the fouled team the option of taking the ball out of bounds in the last two minutes and the foul-and-call-time-out nonsense will end. Or one shot and possession? Sure. Anything to deter intentional fouling being used as a winning tactic. The introduction of the three-point shot has exacerbated the situation. Foul and the opponent has to make two shots to get twby Al DeFlorio - Other Sports

ugarte George64 George64 CU77 George64 CU77 billhoward The ultimate rule change may yet be: Other team gets the ball after a goal. It has been proposed, not sure how seriously. It was tried one year in the late 70s. I hope never to see it again. Why? Because it's boring, and because the face-off is one of lax's distintive features. We don't need to make every game a basketball clone. In certaby Al DeFlorio - Other Sports

ugarte blackwidow ugarte Chuck Henderson Ugarte, a couple of questions. I really look forward to your postings on this. Is Arujau better in freestyle than folkstyle? It seems he has gone further in international than college competition. Does he have the higher upside there? And I assume he has a higher upside in general than, say, Glory. I don't remember as big a difference between free and fby Al DeFlorio - Other Sports

Trotsky BearLover Harvard lapping the ECAC in recruiting has come home to roost. Frankly, had last season not been canceled, the 2020-21 Harvard team may been the most talented team in ECAC history post-split with Hockey East. Players who went pro when last season was canceled included Jack Drury, Jack Badini, Jack Rathbone (yes, triple Jack), and Reilly Walsh. Matty Beniers decommitted and wentby Al DeFlorio - Hockey

BearLover Al DeFlorio BearLover billhoward We've been talking about how few Ivy teams have won the NCAAs since 1970. We're in the ECAC as well as the Ivy League and there's also RPI and Union, neither of them academic slouches, who've won titles. I would like to see Clarkson win Saturday over Quinnipiac and both go to the NCAAs. (Clarkson may have to win both games to go.) Q has a chance to go alby Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Trotsky Canceling 2021 is one of the precious few things the Ivies did right over the last 50 years. When compared with health and life sports simply does not matter. Boggles the mind that some can't seem to comprehend this. This is just a goddam game.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Swampy Ken711 djk26 Tougher than expected--I'll take it. Yale and Penn up next. This may be the first year I can remember that our in league games will raise our strength of schedule more than our out of league games. Ivy League is a beast this year, and it is great to see after two lost seasons. I think playing inside because of the weather certainly didn't do Cornell any favors. dag14 I am curious -- were any posters at the game? How much snow has fallen in State College? Are conditions horrendous? I realize that hindsight is always 20/20 but could this game have been played outdoors? Weather Channel app says 6 inches in the past 24 hours.by Al DeFlorio - Other Sports
