Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Another New Recruit - 19 years ago
Beeeej, I've summarized the message. I've heard too much about Cary Sherman, a HS classmate, to want to get involved in anything like that. (Did anyone know Sherman in Cornell?)by ursusminor - Hockey

Re: Another New Recruit - 19 years ago
Research on Ice, a free newsletter, reports that Justin Milo of Sioux Falls (USHL) has committed to Cornell for 2006. Previously he played at Shattuck St. Mary's and for the Detroit Honeybaked Midget AAA team. He is 5'6" tall and weighs 176 lb. He lives in Eden Falls, MN and was born on 2/23/1987. Re: 1983 Harvard game question - 19 years ago
A question that has been bothering me for years. What is really meant by statements like "Harvard scored four very quick and unanswered goals"? Unless the game is a shutout, the last of a sequence of consecutive goals by one team is always "answered". Certainly it was in this case because Cornell scored only 12 seconds later.by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Hobey Voting - 19 years ago
Trotzky, I have done that in past years. This year, RPI has the optimal three players on the ballot, so it isn't necessary. (Isn't ballot stuffing wodnerful? )by ursusminor - Hockey

Trotsky Wrote: Anybody else find it suspicious that the bottom tier of the voting has virtually identical tallies? I think there may be an "x" factor added across the board each day to make the numbers look a little fatter. If your school has only one or two eligible players, the logical thing to do is to give the rest of your votes to someone who is at or near the bottom of the staby ursusminor - Hockey

Some hotshot netminder out of the Chilliwack Chiefs is going to see the publicity, recall that Davenport bailed, and sign on with Colgate instead. No good deed goes unpunished. Actually, Chilliwack's goalie has committed to Northern Michigan.by ursusminor - Hockey

Re: Net audio? - 19 years ago
A few comments (not too useful since the game is over, but RPI is playing Cornell again). The high-speed link allows only a very limited number of connections which is the reason that not all of you got on. The low-speed link, on the other hand, apparently needs the current version of Real Player.by ursusminor - Hockey

Greg, He definitely is Werner's grandson. Chris's father is Jochen Heisenberg, a physics prof at UNH. Here is a link to a Hockey-L message where Chris defended his grandfather to an earlier message .by ursusminor - Hockey

Re: Everblades in NYC and/or DC - 19 years ago
Now I will be in trouble here since Molly took my recommendation. I add what I told her in my email. For the last 12 years, the RPI Alumni Association has arranged for a game to be broadcast to alumni around the country. In 11 of those years it was an RPI- Clarkson game jointly sponsored with the Clarkson Alumni Association. (The other year it was against UVM.) Sadly this season Clarkson didby ursusminor - Hockey

Re: Championship Belt -- complete list! - 19 years ago
Someone also suggested on the USCHO thread that there should be an actual belt, and perhaps USCHO posters should pass it around. (If that is the case, there will be trouble if Princeton ever gets The Belt again because there are apparently no Princeton fans. ) The rules in case of ties were discussed in the USCHO thread. The current holder keeps The Belt. An Alternate Belt is awarded to the cby ursusminor - Hockey

Re: Championship Belt -- complete list! - 19 years ago
Sorry, that I didn't keep track of how many defenses each titleholder had -- I didn't have that much time. Also, it isn't clear how defenses should be counted. One of the rules state that it in the case of a multigame playoff, only the eventual winner gets the Belt. This is to preclude the possibilty that in a two-game, total-goal playoff, the team winning the second game doesn't advance keby ursusminor - Hockey
