Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: 2022 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament Thread of DESTINY - 1 year ago
mike1960 Delaware is an excellent team, especially on the defense. This is a small sample size (I watched one game against GTown), but here is what I saw. Cornell will have to work hard for goals. Delaware kept a high-powered GTown to 9 goals, Penn to 8 (earlier this year), and Princeton to 10. They play disciplined lacrosse and they time their slides extremely well, as one would expect from aby djk26 - Other Sports

Ken711 Re-play is on TV now if your cable provider has ESPNU. Thank you--my cable provider does offer ESPNU, but I don't pay for that channel, so I am stucking looking for highlights. This is pretty good: Inside Lacrosse article has 1 minute highlight package, plus individual highlights How does Ierlan get credit for a goal? It looks like it went it in off of the stick of Piatelli. Sby djk26 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio djk26 Does anyone know where you can find the highlights of the Ohio State game? The "highlights" link on cornellbigred.com does have footage from the game set to bad music, but I was looking for highlights from the broadcast. Skimpy, but some: Thank you.by djk26 - Other Sports

After the first quarter Cornell outscored OSU 15-4. That's impressive against a strong team.by djk26 - Other Sports

Ivy League goes 3-1 on day one. Tough draw for Brown--I do not relish facing Ohio State a second time this season but I think that's preferable to playing Virginia. Yesterday I rooted for all of the home teams--today (with one huge, obvious exception) I will root for all of the road teams.by djk26 - Other Sports

dag14 Penn has its hands full with Richmond. Tied halfway through the 4th period; going to OT Penn survives in OT, 11-10.by djk26 - Other Sports

Screw BU. Princeton, too, actually, but Ivy League is off to a good start in the tournament.by djk26 - Other Sports

This game has me concerned (like any game would.) Ohio State was all we could handle earlier in the season, and that was with Blake. Now no Blake and I am worried that will more than make up the difference. I don't know if Ohio State has suffered any serious injuries since then.by djk26 - Other Sports

CU77 In and seeded! And no ACC team gets a seed! Hot funk, cool punk, even if it's old junk Maryland's still ACC to me.by djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Wrestling 21-22 - 2 years ago
ugarte 6 wins, 5 wrestlers still alive in the championship bracket, 1 bonus point. Cornell sits in 7th after the morning session. Evening session starts at 7pm Eastern. ugarte, I don't know how you feel about setting expectations in the middle of the competition, but you're definitely the one who knows the most wrestling on this forum. Wouldn't a top 10 finish in the coach's first yearby djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Basketball 21-22 - 2 years ago
ugarte CBI? CIT? Anyone have any details? cornellbigred.com says nothing. I thought for sure we'd get invited to one of the "other" tournaments. I know Princeton is going to the NIT.by djk26 - Other Sports

semsox Other highlight of the game was Jeff Foote was honored as a legend of Ivy League basketball during one of the media timeouts, and he was in attendance with Wittman and Dale. Great memories. The should have asked Jeff to suit up--I understand they needed size this weekend. I hope that all of the Big Three from the Sweet 16 team (Foote, Wittman, Dale) are doing well--I agree, semsox,by djk26 - Other Sports

Tougher than expected--I'll take it. Yale and Penn up next. This may be the first year I can remember that our in league games will raise our strength of schedule more than our out of league games. Ivy League is a beast this year, and it is great to see after two lost seasons.by djk26 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio Goals now 22 at one end, 6 at the other. Cornell now at the wrong end in a tie game. Lighting? Background? I looked at the box score and thought maybe one goal is twice the size of the other.by djk26 - Other Sports

Trotsky Key to the whole thing was Shane's stop on the penalty shot. I knew there was a penalty shot in a game this year--so this is as good a place as any to post the question--certainly not worth a new thread. What happens if a skater is taken down by the opposition while skating to an empty net with the puck? (Of course if you've got the puck and a empty net just shoot it from center iby djk26 - Hockey
Re: Q Game Thread - 2 years ago
Dafatone arugula But shouldn’t the fact that the opponent was the number 1 team matter? They dropped 3 spots for a home regulation loss to Princeton and 2 spots for an ot win over q. Make sense? I didn’t want the technical explanation. I know that. I wanted a sensible explanation. It should matter. But it's three factors. Your record. Your opponents' record. Your opponents' opponents' recoby djk26 - Hockey

This reminds me of the baseball player who went 0-4 with four strikeouts, then hit a game-winning home run in his last at-bat and said, "I don't know if I had a terrible night or a great one." I'm not sure if Cornell hockey's weekend was terrible or great, but we beat the #1 team in the country, so I'll say great. Friday night's game was a learning experience, and I believe the Pairby djk26 - Hockey

Trotsky This is the first show I saw Kate McKinnon not be any good. Might be time, old girl. Keenan's held on but, I'm just saying. I'm as much (if not more) a SNL nerd as I am a Cornell nerd, so here we go: The cast is too damn big. 21 cast members, including 5 featured players, is ridiculous. The thing is, there is a lot of talent among the new people. James Austin Johnson is great aby djk26 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Cornell in the Movies - 2 years ago
scoop85 French Rage SNL! I didn’t watch—what skit was Cornell mentioned in? There was a sketch about a classics lecture; an exterior establishing shot of Bailey Hall, followed by a professor introducing the lecture behind a podium labeled "Cornell University" and in front of a framed picture of McGraw Tower. He mentioned "Cornell" in his introduction. After that it was aby djk26 - John Spencer Is Dead

WOW. All this without Steinberg and Berard? A couple of off nights for UND, I guess, but holy cow, very impressive. Cornell loses, 80-68. Not embarassing; at least it was closer than against VT?by djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Basketball 21-22 - 2 years ago
upprdeck i guess we find out tonight. Best chance tonight is that VT does not score much so perhaps a faster pace game plays to cornells strength. cant shoot 25% like the PSU game to have a chance. Any reason for hope tonight? I'm thinking the ceiling for this team is a non NCAA postseason tournament, which would actually be quite nice.by djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Red Hot Hockey "Presale" - 2 years ago
billhoward The right team to play in even years (BU is odd) is a non-ECAC team with a large metro-New York alumni / student base; BC, Penn State, maybe UMass-Amherst, Michigan, Ohio State, maybe Michigan State, maybe UConn in 10 years, marginally maybe Maine, UNH, Vermont. Notre Dame?by djk26 - Hockey
