Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Schafer's salary - 2 years ago
The population of NYC has decreased over the past four years. The population of Chicago and Los Angeles have flat-lined over the same time period. Could be a quirk, more likely economics and advances in communication.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: New College Hockey Program? - 2 years ago
After watching the NFL grow from six teams to thirty teams I'm convinced that expanding D-1 college hockey will benefit the game - finally put it on a par with baseball, basketball and football.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Schafer's salary - 2 years ago
Today information travels at the speed of light from desk to desk, floor to floor, and from city to city/state/country. The necessity to huddle-up to exchange information is much reduced. The diaspora of office workers goes on before your eyes. Check location of newly constructed business headquarters.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Schafer's salary - 2 years ago
Cities first formed to expedite communication and the distribution of information and goods. Technology has eroded the benefits of cities.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Schafer's salary - 2 years ago
I would be interested in a comparison between the number of college graduates on NHL rosters today versus that statistic in past decades, but I'm too lazy/ignorant to find that information.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Schafer's salary - 2 years ago
I hope the Connecticut taxpayers who fund this splendid coaching position get their money's worth in state taxes on hockey tickets.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: The Future - 2 years ago
Thanks. I'll search around and see what information I can find about these individuals. Interesting to see possible U.S. recruits outnumber possible Canadian recruits two to one.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: The Future - 2 years ago
After a long, barren winter even speculation about Cornell Hockey recruits would be welcome. I am ignorant of any candidates C.U. hockey has interest in. Apparently other fans on this site are as ignorant of this information as I - but their witty responses do help pass the time.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Cornell Sports in 2021-22? - 2 years ago
How? (1) A preponderance of write-in ballots might be for an opponent! (2) Way too many multi-buzillionaires pay way too much in taxes. (3) Delayed offsides slow the game down and discourage treachery - like income taxes!by osorojo - Hockey
Re: The Future - 2 years ago
OOPS! In my defense I was an Arts and Science major - not a bean-counter.by osorojo - Hockey
The Future - 2 years ago
When can we expect a reasonably reliable prediction for Cornell's 2001-2002 Varsity Men's Hockey Roster?by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Cornell Sports in 2021-22? - 2 years ago
Three better scams: Delayed offsides Graduated income tax Write-in ballotsby osorojo - Hockey

The academic decisions of universities rest upon the same criteria as do the athletic decisions of universities: identify the most gifted and promising athletes or scholars, recruit them, and lead them to succeed. No university ever went broke graduating too many exceptional athletesby osorojo - Hockey
Re: Ken Dryden's suggestion for making hockey better - 3 years ago
Cornell taught me enough NOT to compare RGB or AC to KD.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: 2021-22 Men's Schedule - 3 years ago
Old Ez said "I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any subject." Presumably this applies to ice hockey as well as other endeavors - and Cornell's words conspicuously do NOT specify a venue?by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Recruits beyond 2020 - 3 years ago
I have a right to refuse a Covid vaccination because I don't want it, and along with that right comes my right to infect others wth Covid and destroy any hope of herd immunity. That goes for hockey teams too.by osorojo - Hockey

Darwin never rests. He's constantly thinning out the smug and the feeble-minded - but it's like whack-a-mole.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Ken Dryden's suggestion for making hockey better - 3 years ago
Ken Dryden was a splendid goaltender - but he isn't exactly a one-trick pony. THAT's what makes me happy he's a C.U. grad!by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Recruits beyond 2020 - 3 years ago
Trotsky is right. It IS the brand, which includes a whole lot more than cash-in-hand or a winning hockey team. The Ivy League did a fine job of protecting the Ivy League brand, and protecting students in the process.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Ken Dryden's suggestion for making hockey better - 3 years ago
There are "scrum goals" and there are "shooter's goals"; there are "clean saves" and there are "flop saves". Watching shooters cleanly beat the goalie and watching goalies cleanly beat the shooter is more fun than watching knock-hockey. Has there been a significant decrease in goalie injuries since goalie pads have become wider? Somebody must be keeping traby osorojo - Hockey
Re: Ken Dryden's suggestion for making hockey better - 3 years ago
Hockey goals should result from the strategy, angles, and quickness of the shooter and the goalie - not their equipment.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Ken Dryden's suggestion for making hockey better - 3 years ago
They call them "goalie pads" for a reason. They are supposed to protect the goalie, not the goal.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Greatest Game? - 3 years ago
Any other old-timers attend the '66-67 NCAA semifinal game in Syracuse against North Dakota?by osorojo - Hockey
Greatest Game? - 3 years ago
What was the best Cornell Men's Varsity Ice Hockey game you ever attended?by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Opponent news 20-21 - 3 years ago
Facts, especially specifics - like "a 41% cut in funding" - take all the fun out of discussing hockey programs.by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Class of 2025 - 3 years ago
My mother, father, wife, self, son, sister, Brother-in-Law and two nieces are all Cornellians. Who do I see about a group rate for hockey tickets - once we leave this cloud behind?by osorojo - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 3 years ago
I predict a team with a three and one record will seize the national Division One Men's College Hockey Championship. They may cancel the parade, though.by osorojo - Hockey

I learned to consider the source at Fred Marcham's knee. USCHO is a wretched excuse for a source.by osorojo - Hockey
