What is the tiebreaker if we beat Yale at home and finish with the same record?by CU2007 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - 2 months ago
Iceberg Local Motion Who needs an indoor practice facility other than this recent snow storm (not even a big storm) both NYC and Ithaca have enjoyed a very mild winter. By the way, since I was a kid, Upstate has always been anywhere north of Yankee Stadium, although in reality it's probably the Tappan Zee Bridge (now the Mario Cuomo Bridge) on Route 87. I find it hilarious that one could evby CU2007 - Other Sports

If I’m not mistaken, a school has to actually PAY to play in the CBI. My guess is Cornell would pass and blame having to study etcby CU2007 - Other Sports

What’s the first tie-breaker if we win the home game vs Yale and end up tied?by CU2007 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell @ Union, 2/10 - 2 months ago
Huge game tonight as far as securing a first round bye, given Union is in 5th. Obviously we have bigger aspirations, but a regulation loss and some other results and it’s could be real tight down the stretch.by CU2007 - Hockey

ugarte chimpfood No votes in the polls this week. I certainly don’t think that we’re a top 25 team in the country but it’s a bit confusing to lose our coaches poll votes after winning two on the road this week.one of them was a white-knuckler against Dartmouth. makes sense to me, if the voter was someone actually paying attention to us. Maybe it was an “atta boy” courtesy vote and now back to yby CU2007 - Other Sports

Is there a world where Cornell continues winning but stumbles in say the Ivy League title game and gets an at large to the dance? I don’t know enough about college hoops but have always heard the Ivy League is, and always will be, a one bid league.by CU2007 - Other Sports

ugarte CU2007 Al DeFlorio 2-0 over Clsrkson after two CHN says Cornell won 3-0? Not sure if you forgot there's a third period or misread the word in bold Yea I thought hockey played halvesby CU2007 - Hockey

Re: St. Lawrence at Cornell, 2/2 - 2 months ago
I think a lot of it is the improved product on ESPN+ vs the early days of ILDN, which had like one camera and was real glitchy. Also the improved reliability of home WiFi. I’ve spoken to plenty of people who just stay home and watch on tv. I’d love to know how many people watch each Cornell game on ESPN+ (and where they are geographically) though I doubt that info is available to the public.by CU2007 - Hockey
Re: Women 2023-24 - 3 months ago
Trotsky USCHO shows us trailing at SLU 2-1 in the third. SLU scored 19 seconds into the game. Stuff been wonky all night. ESPN+ said it was the 1st period for most if not all of the 2nd period. It also had the records completely wrong on the graphics. Not sure if all of that stuff flows through the same channels.by CU2007 - Hockey

TimV BigRedBrouhaha CU2007 He’s right though. Threatening a police officer with discipline because he calls a woman “she” or “her”? Get a grip. Imagine getting angry enough to be against diversity, equity and inclusion because someone asked you to say "they" instead of "she" or "he". Talk about get a grip. Re: Cornell's Sprint Football HC stepping down - 3 months ago
rss77 Would help they set aside 10-15 admission slots for Sprint also. No thanks. Too many “reserved” spots as it is. Can’t be giving more away to basically a club sport that very few people care about.by CU2007 - Other Sports

ugarte Up next is Wells, who is losing D-III games by 50, so I'm hoping to see some guys who don't play much getting major minutes. Good opportunity to get some young guys / walk-ons out there and build some team camaraderie.by CU2007 - Other Sports

Chris '03 Big Dingus lol at the haters on the student section. Feels like at this point you guys enjoy when it’s empty Mainly BearLover of course It is what it is. I think the point is that people are going to push back when you come on here and declare how full it is but the broadcast shows huge empty sections. We'd all love to see a full student section night in and night out. But thatby CU2007 - Hockey

chimpfood We end the season undefeated in non conference play, very impressive, especially given the strength of our opponent. Now we just need to stop blowing it in the ECAC. I feel a second half run coming on. Won’t catch quinnipiac but I like us to finish the regular season in 2nd place. Then see what happens.by CU2007 - Hockey

abmarks Murray scored 4 goals in a bchl playoff game last year. Not bad. And then he scored 4 more goals in the very next game. Can we have this version of him, please? Whoopsby CU2007 - Hockey

upprdeck At the same time our HS has had far more concussions from soccer than football for many years. I read somewhere that girls soccer was the 2nd highest concussion rate, behind football. And I think USA Soccer banned headers until age 15 or so because of it - could be wrong there. Most were caused by heading the ball without fully developed neck muscles to support the impact on the head.by CU2007 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2023 - upstate NYS football success - 4 months ago
Trotsky CU2007Now everyone seems to have forgotten or just agreed not to care that we are watching people wreck their bodies, and in many cases their lives, and football seems as big as ever. I’m guilty of it too.Is it? My impression after the pandemic was everybody was pulling their kids out of football except the derps. The sport dies if there are no more gladiators. Re: Cornell football 2023 - upstate NYS football success - 4 months ago
Roy 82 David Harding rss77 Interesting article on Chad Levitt and the price one pays for playing football Scary! Indeed. Exciting new coach notwithstanding, I would suggest that Cornell take the bold move of ending its football programs. The casualty toll is too great. And the NCAA knocked the Ivies from the top league anyway. For a while there after the movie Concussion and CTE inby CU2007 - Other Sports

it’s playful banter at a sporting event. I get a kick out of people taking shots at Cornell too - I don’t feel offended. It’s just not that serious - nothing really is.by CU2007 - Other Sports

Anyone with a realistic chance of acceptance to Cornell should not bother applying to Quinnipiac. I think it’s a good cheer against Colgate. That stings a bit.by CU2007 - Other Sports

dbilmes Since we've got a few weeks between games, I thought I would share some details from an article (paywall) about the Michigan State hockey team which was published by The Athletic last month, and then reprinted on the front page of Sports Monday in today's NY Times. This part of the article is about Red Savage, a MSU player who was a fourth-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings and whose fatby CU2007 - Hockey
