Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Rullloff's - 9 months ago
There is a proposal for a new bar on the city's west end that would reuse Rulloff's furnishings. Ithaca Voice John said he purchased the bar fixtures from longtime Collegetown staple Rulloff’s, and is “going to try and reconstruct that bar in the space.” Taber Street is not a Collegetown location, but might attract alumni.by David Harding - John Spencer Is Dead

Weder dag14 How do you people remember this stuff? I am not sure what I had for breakfast this morning. I covered that game as a student and the postgame interviews (not so much the fight itself) have always stuck in my brain. Burt’s version was that he declined an offer to fight and that prompted Shtrom to say something along the lines of “Well, let’s go then.” (Too lazy to look up the storyby David Harding - Hockey

Iceberg I suppose we can start off this thread with today's announcement of Colgate's new head coach. That leaves Schafer as the longest tenured head coach in the conference I think Colgate alum and former assistant coach Mike Harder '97by David Harding - Hockey

Swampy Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky BTW, TIL Bard has the third-most expensive tuition in the US. That is funny. Oleanders growing outside her door / Soon they're gonna be in bloom up in Annandale Good song. 35 sweet goodbyes I only learned what that meant about a year ago. But, I mean, the band's name... upprdeck wouldnt he be a free agent since the rights go away after 3 yrs dont they? The rules are different for college players. The team holds the rights until August 15 after the player leaves an NCAA program.by David Harding - Hockey

Trotsky coz Trotsky Interesting they took Stienburg too. Their prospect pool is incredibly thin up front. Not too surprising they signed one of their own draft picks.I thought the article said he was an FA. The article did say that Stienburg was an FA, but he wasn't.by David Harding - Hockey

George64 Re: 2022 LTW Rowing Posted by: George64 (---.rochester.res.rr.com) [ PM ] Date: December 15, 2022 03:36PM Very interesting. See the very last sentence of the email below. As a donor, I get regular communications from Cornell rowing. I never received any notice about Chris Kerber’s departure. Given the lack of a prior announcement, I assume he was terminated. Re: Northville-Placid Trail (backpacking/camping recommendation) - 1 year ago
I hiked a couple of sections of the NP Trail and many of the FLT in the mid-1970's. It was a while ago, but I remember more ups and downs on the FLT than NP because FLT was cutting east-west across the north-south valleys while NP tended to follow the valleys. NP felt more remote, with many fewer road crossings, though some campsites were busy back then.by David Harding - John Spencer Is Dead

BearLover It’s a hockey game. We have a chance of beating Denver. We are clear underdogs, but we have a chance. Maybe 2:1 odds? If we beat Denver, then the hardest part is over. Amen. I wasn't terrifically impressed with Denver when I watched Omaha (currently #18) beat them 3-0 in Denver. The next night Denver won 6-3. On the other hand, drop the home game against Union from Cornell'sby David Harding - Hockey

CU77 adamw CU77 KRACH could be adjusted to do better, as I outlined above. KRACH is a very simple model. The door is open ... I don't care enough to do it myself. In any case Massey probabilities are likely better, as they use more input (scores, locations, times). This comic says it well:by David Harding - Hockey

billhoward Thanks. I heard that (Joe's --> housing / apartments) but nothing's happening. Lot of apartments going up downtown in the vicinity west of North Meadow Street, (i.e. the street Purity, Ithaca Bakery and Joe's are on). Scersk '97 arugula Have you noticed that we always seem to have small goalies? Watching Shane, he just kind of shrinks into the net. We don’t need a 6’6” keeper like Clarkson, but 6’1” would be good. They claim Shane is 6’0”. Lol. Don't get me started. I know everyone (else) loved Andy Iles… But I saw Yale open him up like a bad can of tuna in Atlantic City his freshman year, and I thinkby David Harding - Hockey

Chris H82 I was looking through some of the tributes to Mike Leach today (a complex person, for sure), and there was one post-game clip where a reporter asked him about his favorite Halloween candy. While he pontificated on that, the other part of the split screen was showing the Mississippi State football team gathering with their fans to celebrate the victory, and their band was playing theirby David Harding - John Spencer Is Dead
