Re: Cornell Hockey Coverage - 5 months ago
arugula ugarte The most important thing a senior editor can do is edit. Really read the work closely so you and your colleagues don't have a clip file that looks like shit. Some people here really seemed to like the MSG gamer but I didn't. It read like a livestream rather than a coherent piece of writing about the event. This isn't a critique about copyediting - though it's also not NOT that - itby arugula - Hockey

Swampy I would add one thing to what others have said. I streamed last weekend's BU game and found the announcers to be strong BU homers, which I would normally expect. Nonetheless, they provided insights into each team's strategy like I have never heard before. For example, they said Cornell defense appeared to be using man-to-man coverage. I've never heard such analysis before in any broadcby arugula - Hockey

ugarte Will djk26 BU, after losing to the #16 team in the poll, is #4, after last week's placement at...#5. In fairness to BU, they also posted a win over then-#3 Quinnipiac since last week's poll.and the word is that they are reading this forum and are factoring in the cautionary posts from me and BearLover about the run of play And we were 16 last week. Beat the number 5 team and this weekby arugula - Hockey

Pghas Was also lucky enough to attend Saturday night. What a game!! In terms of comparing the teams, I think from what I saw, BU has much better overall team speed and with it, skill than Cornell does. He didnt put up any points, but Mack Celebrini while only 17 is the consensus #1 overall NHL draft pick next year. Lane Hutson was a second round pick for the Canadiens. BU grabs an awful lotby arugula - Hockey

billhoward JohnF81 It was a great crowd and atmosphere at MSG. 15,289 was an excellent turnout. St. John's basketball drew 14,188 when they played Michigan at MSG two weeks ago. Great comments by Mike in the postgame on alumni support. 15,289/18,006 MSG hockey seating = 85% full Saturday night. I thought it felt much fuller than that, but I cannot fathom an arena ever undercounting. Might be itby arugula - Hockey

Trotsky BearLover I’m very happy Cornell won last night and I had a great time at the game. But the performance did not inspire confidence for the rest of the year. Looking at the chances Cornell gave up, BU easily could have had four or five goals. Even though Cornell did finally score on the PP, it came when a puck popped out to Walsh from the half-wall, rather than set up by a passing play. Thby arugula - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 5 months ago
Thoughts about Caron? It was an interesting reversal. In the past two years we would dominate Brown and Caron would keep them close. Today BU mostly controlled the first two half of the game and Shane kept us close.by arugula - Hockey

RichH arugulaWe can win this but it has to be a tactical masterpiece and we just take advantage of the few chances we get. Just wanted to highlight this. Was it a tactical masterpiece? No. But the D got their asses in line and Shane came up big where he had to. One particular toe save in the 3rd stood out to me. And the PP showed signs of actual creative movement. Keep that going. RichH arugula Just back from MSG and watching some of the broadcast on demand. God I Love Bernie Corbett. Terrific crowd if well below a sellout. I bought my ticket at 7:20pm. Available tickets at that time were very sparsely scattered across approximately a dozen sections, and I thought a majority of the tickets left were from resellers. They closed the extreme upper deck and bridge seats.by arugula - Hockey

chimpfood Hard to overstate how huge that win is. Beating #1 in the pairwise is gonna be a big help. Let’s sweep colgate and go into break happy. You would think but only up to 21by arugula - Hockey

Yes. We only have like 6 “difficult” games on the schedule—meaning ones that could help sos and pwr. We can’t lose them all plus losing to the Princetons of the world. Oy.by arugula - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 5 months ago
On that goal, most of the Red abandoned the zone while the puck was still there. It was a 2 on 0 or 2 on 1 down low. Sloppy.by arugula - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 5 months ago
Celebrini is scary. This was my point a few weeks ago. Obviously there is a chasm between the skill level of the NHL and college. Tonight you see part of that. BU has highly skilled individuals. We can win this but it has to be a tactical masterpiece and we just take advantage of the few chances we get.by arugula - Hockey

sah67 scoop85 Tonight Psenicka had several golden opportunities that he just couldn’t bury. Mind boggling. I feel like the majority of Psenicka's goals in previous seasons were tips and deflections from the slot or right in front of the net, and yet he never seems to be positioned in those spots on the PP this year. I'm also not sold on Rego getting as much PP time as he does, let alone quarby arugula - Hockey

BearLover Local Motion As I have said before Cornell's football season is like the Martha Pollack administration. Ever since she has become president at Cornell the only news coming from the Eaat Hill is bad news. Just ask CNN. Cornell needs a new leader who brings positive energy back to our campus. Whether it's threats of violence on campus, student depression, or a football team who caby arugula - Other Sports

ugarte BearLover You’d think that when no passing seams have opened up after over a minute of passing it around on the perimeter, somebody would attempt to shoot the puck instead.Forget shooting - change the skating pattern! Step forward, make them move differently, have someone skate through the umbrella so they have to react to him. ANYTHING but Sweet Georgia Brown for four minutes. Dean Smithby arugula - Hockey
